Today's Everyday Fashion: The Leopard Pump

I'm no stranger to this color combo. In fact, you can see similar looks here and here. The game changer, then? Definitely leopard pumps. They put a new spin on my love of pastels, and add a retro vibe to the look (in fact, my shoes were part of the Mad Men collection at Banana). Don't you love it when you add a key piece to your closet and it makes everything feel new again? ps. Not sure why the disparity in shoe color between the two photos, but the right is more true to life. Are leopard pumps a staple in your closet yet?

  1. I love my leopard pumps (and flats too)!  I also have a pair of giraffe ones which are awesome and something you definitely don't see a lot!

  7. Great! I love the white skirt outfit you linked to as well. More of those! Also you mentioned you've been looking for a good steamer clothes steamer? Any luck yet?? I purchased one recently, but it was of a poor quality. It barely works. Thank you!

  8. I've never had the guts to wear any kind of animal print because there is a fine line between tacky and fabulous when it comes to animal prints. This is definitely fabulous!

  9. I have been obsessing over those leopard pumps every since you got them! I've been reading your blog for a while, but I haven't commented until now. Just wanted to let you know you inspired me to get a pair myself! I love them! I ended up getting these:

  11. Color difference in the shoes (which are amazing, btw) seems to be from the angle the light enters your shooting space. I am guessing that there is a window on the left side of the picture (your right)? That would account for the way the light hits you when you do your outfit posts as I have noticed when you do shots where your backside is facing the light, your face comes out very dark. You can do a couple of things to help with this:
    1) Open up your lens. What aperture are you shooting at? Opening up to a lower number allows more light to enter the lens and your picture overall.
    2) Invest in a light to put on the other side where the light from the window is not as strong. When I say light, I mean a photography style, strobe, but you could also get away with a lamp if you are careful about the type of bulb you choose.
    Hope that helps!

  12. I consider my leopard pumps a neutral. They seem to go with everything!

  13. I don't wear heels hardly ever, but my leopard flats are definitely my go to shoe! I wear them with almost everything.

  14. I've been trying to hunt down a seafoam green skirt for weeks now. I love your skirt! Especially when you paired it with the mustard top and mint/turquoise necklace awhile back. Just beautiful!

  18. Love the outfit-especially the color combo. I am a fan of all things leopard print, so I wear my leopard print pumps as often as possible. Mine are also Banana Republic, but from last year. Don't you love it when you find something both versatile and fun?

  22. Jana, what kind did you get? I'm hoping to get myself to Target or something next week. I'm definitely way overdue on getting a steamer but need to figure what kind to get so would love any advice!

  23. Thank you for saying hi Callie! This is one of my favorites so I'm glad you like it too!

  24. Thank you so much for the tips! The lighting is actually coming at my front - I face the huge windows in my room when I take the photos. Right now my camera is just on Auto, so I have yet to experiment much with aperture. I would love to add some more lighting to the room at some point too (first, I need to get my website re-designed and self-hosted!) but I will have to experiment with that soon. Thanks again!

  25. Hello!

I have a quick question ( unrelated to this particular outfit, which I love). I notice that you have quite a few accessories from H&M but not alot of clothing. We've just had one open here and the selection is pretty good and they're priced very well. Can you comment on the quality? Thanks, love your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Johanne, I do tend to prefer the accessories at H&M over the clothing. The quality can be spotty - in general I would say it's better than F21, but there are certain things I won't buy (like purses or collared dress shirts), and overall I would just be sure to use your best judgment and evaluate each piece carefully! Things can be really over-priced at H&M too! Don't spend $40 on a sundress that you could get at F21 for $15 for the same quality.

  27. No problem! I think taking your camera from "auto" to "aperture priority" (check your camera settings, this is usually the "A" setting but every camera can be different and you may need to look at the manual) will really help. In aperture priority mode, everything else (the ISO, shutter speed, etc.) will be "automatic" and you can just control the aperture up or down. Lower numbers let in more light, so at 2 your lens is more "open" than at 8. The more light there is in the room, the bigger the number your aperture should be at. So if there is hardly any light, you want to be at a lower (smaller) number. Ken Rockwell has some great free tutorials on-line at http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech.htm. Also- feel free to e-mail me if you have any specific questions, teachergirlblogs [at] gmail [dot] com. Best of luck!!

  28. So helpful, thank you! I love this baby step. I'm not ready to adjust everything manually yet but would love to play with the aperture. Thanks again!

  30. Thank you! It's kind of a lime-y/chartreuse color, but I got it two summers ago via J.Crew.com!
