Today's Everyday Fashion: Gucci

Runway looks: so pretty to look at, but they don't necessarily translate well into real life! I love the color combo in this Gucci runway look, so I gave it a try with my own clothes. Even with the toned down re-creation (I decided to skip the hat, faux fur and necklace, among other things!) I still think it's a bit "much" and I'm not sure this outfit would fly in my own daily life. I'm excited to hear what you think though - would you attempt this Gucci-inspired look? How would you wear it?

ps. I'm really excited to tell you guys about a project I'm working on! I was selected by Chevy to be one of six team captains for SXSW this year (the nation's largest social media conference - more than 30,000 people attend)! What that means is that me and my team (team Fresh Squeezed!) are road tripping to Austin in a Chevy, all to raise money for Adopt-A-Classroom. We leave next Tuesday and we will be stopping to visit the 3 classrooms we are sponsoring - in Orlando, Tallahassee and Houston - along the way. Please check out our website to see how you can donate money directly to the classrooms (as an individual or as a business), and follow our journey of 1,200 miles! :-)

  2. I've been meaning to try out the red pants thing. Bold but brilliant.

  3. I think you did a great job of making that runway look work IRL. So much so I wish I had similar pieces in my closet to pull it off!

  4. I love the color combination but that's probably as far as I'd go to try this look.  I love what you did though, I think it looks great!  The only thing I might change if you wanted to tone yours down a bit would maybe be the undershirt?  I think a simpler cami might make you feel like it wasn't too much?  Super cute though, I love what you do with red and purple.

  5. I actually really like the look you put together today!  It's unexpected, yes, but that's what I like about it, and it works!

  6. Actually I think you translated it very well and it totally works! I'm digging it!!!

  7. I really like the top-half, but I would skip the belt and wear wide-leg rust-colored trousers instead. The two bright colors are too much for me.

  8. Megan, I totally agree - the pattern on the undershirt is bugging me. That was the only thing I had in that color, but I think something simple in the same tone would be perfect!

  9. I definitely encourage you to try it! For someone like me who never wore red, it's a surprisingly easy way to try it because the color is away from your face.

  10. You're coming to my hometown! Are you doing any events? I would love to meet one of my fashion inpirations in person! :)

  11. I like how you interpreted the look a lot!  That collection is my absolute favorite from Gucci!  I loved their teals and grays though, as I felt that those colors in the collection were more wearable for everyday style.  I think the only thing I would've changed was to make the underneath camisole, a scoop neck one, but I am sure that is at the only colored tank you had in that shade as it is so hard to re-create runway looks!  The 2 v-necks throw off the look a bit, but I must say this look is pretty cool!  Nice job!  xx

  12. Aw, yay! No events this time around. I'll only be there a few days and will be busy, busy attending Chevy and SXSW events!

  13. I would definitely wear this but without the jacket. I think that's the part that is too much for me.

  14. I quite like it, but I must say I don't see it on a person living in Florida.  Florida just doesn't have the weather to support those rich jewel tones. It would be like wearing white dotted swiss in Siberia.

  15. I hear ya! I try to create outfits that work in all climates and work situations though. So this one is more for my peeps up north. :-)

  16. I absolutely love your interpretation and would wear that in a hot minute! To the grocery store, on a date, girls' night out... this would definitely work with the Bay Area climate!

  20. I love how you interpreted this outfit!! The colors you put together make sense and I love the shirt under the cardigan- put a lil spunk in your outfit :)

Question - what program do you use to put your pictures side by side? I was using Picnik for a long time but they took the collage feature off so I am trying to figure out a new program to use.

  21. Thanks Angela! I use Word and a screen shot trick that only works on Macs.

  23. I'm actually digging the color combinations but I think the top half would look better with just two out of the three things you have on.  Either the light violet shirt and the jacket or the cardigan and the violet shirt but not the jacket or so on.

  27. *Congratulations*, J., on being selected by Chevrolet to *BE* one of (only!!) #6 Team Captains............ (i.e., of Social Media lovers from ALL corners of the U.S.A.)............ *TO* the important/influential South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Conference............ i.e., not only are you in demand in (University of Central Florida) CLASSROOMS, but now you're also in demand on the ROAD, too:  *Good* for you!!

(I also can't wait to hear about your Adopt-A-Classroom visits~~~~i.e., what a genuinely MEANINGFUL, and very worthy, cause that certainly is!!)

The colors in your outfit, (Above), are all so *pleasing* together!!    Although I love your brown belt, I wonder how............ a maybe "dressier" pewter belt, (e.g., as in the Inspiration Photo?)............ a satin--finish silver belt............ OR a matte-gray belt might look instead?    If you'd change-out the belt color, I then think a small/simple pair of silver or silver-toned earrings would additionally *complement* the pale-lavender color of your undershirt.    'GREAT (and very wearable) runway re-creation, J.!!
