Today's Everyday Fashion: Winter Brights
It's no secret that I. love. color. And winter, in my opinion, is no time to stop wearing it! That's why this J.Crew winter look stopped me in my tracks. I love the idea of pairing purple-red-yellow, and I love the way they effortlessly pulled it off for colder weather. I don't have a thick yellow coat in my closet, but I gave it a go using what I already had in this same color palette. I personally like the plum jeans better, although the skirt would be cute this summer, too! Do you like wearing bright colors in the winter?

The skirt outfit is a little too purple for me, but I LOVE the skirt combo. Plus, I think that's my favorite necklace you have. :-) I saw those shoes at Express and really wanted them but I was afraid they were uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteMake that...I love the pants combo. I'll be going to proofreading class now. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd tend to wear a lot of black and grey in the winter but I'm trying to wear more color!

ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how much I love love love this look! Color is fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteJ- I never comment but I have to today because your outfits are spot on! Great color combo and very classy
ReplyDeletethis is really cute!!
ReplyDeleteOMG I thought the purple on the right was a dress at first! Love! Both looks are great for winter and this coming spring! ECU colors all the way. Check out some yellow and purple dresses we just got in at the boutique I work at. http://www.fashionatabargain.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI actually like your outfit even better than the J. Crew photo!
ReplyDeleteFor anyone looking for the J. Crew bubble necklace that doesn't want to pay $150 (gulp!), I got mine off Ebay for a fraction of the price. It may or may not be the real deal, but for what I paid I'm okay with that. :)
Love that color combination! And your necklace is great!
ReplyDeletegorgeous necklace!
ReplyDeleteI may have to try some mustard and plum pairings...
ReplyDeleteI love wearing bright colors year-round. I can't stand how everything turns beige and boring after summer is over. It feels so uninspiring.
So colorful, so vibrant and so amazing!!
ReplyDeleteAdding color into a winter wardrobe is a sure fire way to boost my mood. While dark colors will always be my first choice, even in summer, I at least add a colorful accessory to liven things up.

I JUST pinned a bedroom with these colors with the caption "Love these colors together. . . possible outfit?" Then I come here and here are the colors!! Too funny!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Also try H&M for the necklace - they made an identical one for $15 recently.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting today Erin! :-)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love these colors! No, I don't wear bright colors hardly ever! LOL! You do inspire me on many levels though to wear more color! It is one of my goals this spring to invest in some COLOR!!! We shall see how that goes. I love the plum jeans!! Kohl's rocks for finding great deals, as you already know. :) Have a good day! xx

I am always a huge fan of bright colors! I am in love with that necklace!! I have been wanting the JC bubble one for a while, but the price is a bit ridiculous. Shame we don't have H&M in Charlotte so I can get the knockoff!
ReplyDeleteLove!

Yes! We live in Green Bay and the whole office crew was so sad after Sunday's loss that we declared this week "Bright Color Week": Everyone is wearing bright colors, we've hung bright swaths of fabric in our cubicles and we're having a picnic on Thursday. Wind chill Thursday is predicted to be -20 degrees, so we need all the bright color we can get! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI bought that J.Crew turquoise bubble necklace from eBay too-- I've gotten compliments every time I wear it!
ReplyDeleteI am going to wear purple & mustard tomorrow! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely my favorite!! I am so jealous of your eggplant skinnies! And I love that it looks like you are wearing a dress in the right picture. Two perfect outfits!
ReplyDeleteRandom question: What do you think about pairing a pinstripe black blazer with red skinny jeans? Do you think it is weird to match something dressy (like pinstripe blazer) with casual (red skinnies)? If it's a look you'd go for, what kind of shirt would you wear with it (color and style)? Thanks so much!!
Thank you Kate!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think you can pair those two pieces! Check out my second look in this Flashback Friday: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/01/flashback-friday-black-boyfriend-blazer.html Maybe instead of the leopard do a small stripe t-shirt underneath? Or a gray v-neck sweater or t-shirt underneath? The right graphic tee would look cute, too.
LOVING the winter brights!

I couldn't agree more. I LOVE wearing bright colors year round! Both of your outfits are super cute; I think I too am slightly more partial to the jeans.
ReplyDeleteSaid it before, and I'll say it again: Love your color combos! Just got red skinny jeans and I plan to pair them with black, but want to try royal blue and maybe even pinky-purple to spice things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! The color combo is great :)

Love what you did here :) Reminds me of the look for less a little bit !! I never thought of being so bright in the winter...(except for during the Holidays..) Thanks for the inspiration :) Bright pink is one of my best colors...bright colors in general..I shouldn't hide in the winter under paleness!
