Today's Everyday Fashion: Trip to Sanibel
I'm so excited to share my first VISIT FLORIDA video with you guys! I traveled to Sanibel Island in October to get the scoop on shopping and you can watch the video here. This is what I wore (minus the shoes, I'll make you watch the video to see what shoes I actually wore!) and some pictures from my trip. I picked up this dress at TJ Maxx around the same time and thought the tropical feel was appropriate for a video about Florida. My casual outfit for the drive is below and is pretty much my go-to casual look when it's warm outside (right down to the messy hair). Also - the car I'm sitting on is not my car. Ford loaned me a Fiesta for my trip so I could give it a try and it was loads of fun. Kind of like driving a super-fast go-kart with fancy leather trim and push-to-start button. ;-) I'll be taking more trips this year to explore shopping in Florida - what is your favorite vacation or shopping destination in Florida?
Dress: TJ Maxx, $18
Belt: Joe's Jeans c/o Marshall's, $20
Shoes: Banana Republic, $22
Earrings: c/o Mikel Maia
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift
You can watch the video here.
My casual outfit for the trip down to Sanibel Island.
Shirt: J.Crew, $14
Jeans: American Eagle, $33
Belt: H&M, $20
Sandals: Chinese Laundry from DSW, $27
Necklace: My Stella & Dot website

I really like your casual outfit. It's something similar to what I've been wearing lately. My favorite destination would have to be Downtown Disney as of right now. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the video and the dress!
ReplyDeleteI love your casual outfit! You look so cute in it! The dress is absolutely fantastic! Are your heels patent? If so, how do you feel about nude patent heels? Sometimes I worry that they are too shiny and don't have an "everyday" feel to them. What do you suggest for a versatile nude shoe (heel or flat)?
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! I am pretty much addicted to nude shoes - these pumps are not patent, but I actually just got some that are and can't stop wearing them! I like both kinds, but think I might lean towards the patent a little bit, because you can wear them pretty much anything - jeans, but also a formal dress. I also have some nude flat sandals (similar style to the ones in the last picture, but nude not brown) and some nude patent wedges that have a dark brown wood heel. I love all three! :-)
ReplyDeleteLoved the video! It was fun to see you (and your dress) in action!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite spot in Florida is Cedar Key (about an hour west of Gainesville). We went there last year with some friends and fell in love! It's so laid back...you're more likely to see people driving golf carts than cars. There are just enough fun things to do without feeling overwhelmed and touristy. We're already planning another trip in October!
Love the jcrew shirt! Do they have anything like that recently? Such a great cas outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! I am looking at something like that to sell online on my online boutique when I start it up. Slow going right now getting everything together with my school schedule but stay tuned to my blog http://www.fashionatabargain.blogspot.com/ . I will be selling through facebook and posting pictures on my blog of the items I plan on ordering just waiting for my NC tax info and business license info to come through!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I bought this shirt last year after Christmas during their big sale, but didn't see anything similar when I looked during this year's sales!
ReplyDeleteLove it Shawnna, thank you for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteI love love that dress. The colors are just fantastic. I just bought some patent nude heels. While I rarely wear heels, I feel like these might be a good purchase. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I just got some patent nude heels too (what can I say, I'm addicted to nude shoes). I love them and they go with absolutely anything! I think they are a great purchase for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fresh, impressionistic-print floral dress!! I simply love how your very loose, flowy (L) sleeve is *b.a.l.a.n.c.e.d.* *b.y.*............ the elegant, geometric structure of the (diagonal) fabric-band at the neckline/back; and by the spaghetti strap on your (R) shoulder. Plus, your dress' accessories here, (Above); and then for your video appearance are just perfect!!
ReplyDeleteYou're just so stylistically-S.K.I.L.L.E.D., J, in how~~(in the first photo, Above)~~you highlighted the *right* side of your dress with dressier, cleaner-lined accessories; then in your............ (wonderfully self-assured and professional!!)............ video for VISIT FLORIDA.com, you highlighted the *left* side of your dress instead, with more casual, less-structured accessories............ (i.e., different earrings, cuff bracelet, and shoes)!! 'Both really great outfits!!
Love the cas outfit! And where are your sunglasses from? They fit your face perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! I got these sunglasses at LOFT.
ReplyDeleteI'm fron north Dakota and my fave place in Florida is Marco island!
ReplyDeleteOrlando is one of my favorite places to shop in FL, but I've not been to that many other areas.
