Today's Everyday Fashion: Bundled Up

Here's the thing about coats: when I lived in Boston, I thought of them as a method of survival, not as part of my outfit. But today I'm challenging that thought, and looking back I wish I would have worn more outfits like today's! The coat is part of the "look", especially if you were able to wear it open like I show it here. This photo inspired me to give it a try and I'm glad I did! Tell me - do incorporate coats into your outfits, or simply use them for warmth?

  1. Morning J!!  I wish I could incorporate them more into my outfits, however, I hate wearing coats, so I mostly just wear them for warmth.  Of course, I make sure that my coats are stylish because I do need to wear them in PA, but I take them off as soon as I get inside!  Your coat is so cute!  I have one like yours kind of, but mine is vintage leather and gray with real fur on the collar and was given to me by my husband's Grandma!  I love it and want to wear it more often!  xx

  3. I adore coats, but they are typically mainly for warmth. I have "nice" coats for when I'm dressed up and my WARM coat for when it is frigged!

  4. I use them for warmth, but because it's rarely cold and rarely gets below 40, I am able to snatch up some really cute coats that are too bulky!
I do like the fur scarves & stole! They are perfect for the winter, but not that cold winter!

  5. If you had to choose between red wedges (like yours) or red peep toes, which one would you choose? (And you can only pick one!)

  6. Red wedges. I'm obsessed with these shoes and currently trying to find this style in a bunch of other colors! They are SO comfy.

  8. Hey J. Check out callitsprings.com. I have found black and gray wedges there for super cheap. They are very comfy too. The quality is not bad. They are made from the ALDO company. I also found a pair of camel penny loafers with a wedge there as well. I wore them for 12 hours today and didn't feel any aches or pains. They always have a size 10.

  9. I try to make sure my coat match my outfits but the outfit has to already be a statement. Just because as soon as I get to where I am going I get hot and the coat comes right off. I love this look! Loving all the colors. I have been debating on a "lighter" colored coat but with all this dirt and snow here in Wisconsin… well haven't bothered. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Ummmm...YOU look better than the model.  Yours is "sassed up" if that's a term.  LOL  I love the color combos...red, tan, black, brown.  You are a PRO at matching black & brown but I stilll don't have it down.  Question:  What color pants should I wear with a orange cardigan with a navy/orange print cami underneath?  ...except for navy.  Khaki?

  12. Thank you! With that combo I would wear an off-white/ivory bottom, jeans, khaki or a similar brown color like camel, or cobalt blue.

  13. Thank you for the response!  Never thought of cobalt blue...that would be pretty!  LOVE your blog!!!!
