Today's Everyday Fashion: Plaid Escape

I have newfound love for plaid this winter, and this Shopbop pic is one of my favorite inspirations of all time. Talk about looking chic while camping, geesh! I decided to give it my own spin for everyday wear. I think the key to not look like you are actually going camping is adding some girlie details, such as a sparkly necklace or heels. I would also wear this outfit with the boots from this post! Are you loving plaid this fall/winter?

  2. I have been craving anything plaid or gingham lately.  There is just something super preppy cool about this look. Love how you paired the olive green pants and red shoes with your top.  Heather

  7. love this look.  I recently borrowed a plaid shirt from a friend and fell in love with it.  I love that the tops you show all include red, a color that is lacking from my wardrobe :)

  9. Love your look, but the inspiration photo cracks me up. She does indeed look chic, but she's got thick socks, a fuzzy hat, a coat that appears to be woolen and ... BOOTY shorts? What, this girl is freezing everywhere except for the giant expanse of skin between her thighs and shins?

  13. LOL Nikki, those were my thoughts exactly! And this pretty much sums up why I blog. This is what the media gives us as inspiration - how in the world are us regular folks supposed to wear it? ;-)

  19. I'm loving plaid!  That shirt looks so much like mine. I re-discovered it a few weeks ago ( it's more than 7 years old - so glad I didn't give it away) and I got a ton of compliments when I wore it.
I love the way you styled it. I'll have to find a vest like that one to wear with mine.

Thank you for your blog. It's inspiring, in more ways than just fashion.

  20. To me, your very-stylish twist on a classic outfit----(i.e., with squares of cranberry red in your plaid shirt;  your cranberry red suede wedges;  your dark green skinny cargos;  and your sparkly statement necklace)----just sings, "Have A Low-Key, Laid-Back Christmas"!!    I honestly could see how this outfit would be  *G.R.E.A.T.*  to wear during the Holidays, J, for Get-Togethers of Family Members and/or Friends............ (BEFORE or AFTER those really "dress-up" times, e.g., like a Main Holiday Dinner or a Church Services)............ when everyone's helping with the cooking and cleaning;  eating more casual meals;  or running around shopping and doing errands for/with family members and/or friends.

My nieces/sisters/sister-in-laws/elderly Mom would all just LOVE your sparkly statement necklace;  the *happy* cranberry red colors in your outfit and shoes;  and also how your light gray sweater vest simply "pulls it all together."    My nephews/brothers/brother-in-laws/elderly Dad would all, (I'm sure!), think that THEIR plaid shirts;  leather belts;  and cargos............ never looked *as good*............ on any of THEM, though, (haha)!!

  21. I love the girly twist - necklase and shoes :) I have a plaid shirt (few of them , long or short sleeved) but one that I plan to wear tomorrow is girly from the start - it has ruffles along the button line :) (I think that detail was HUGE two winters ago, I saw those kind of ruffles on lots of shirts in every store, that's when I bought this shirt, from Caliope (Italian brend, bought it in Belgrade)) And also "squares" are smaller than in yours (don't know if that's important ;) ) I'll make an outfit with it and will try to take a photo of it so I could post in on your fb page :)

  23. I am loving this look and was trying to recreate it in my own way...  Just wanted to give a heads up... in case anyone was looking for the red wedge shoe...i just found a pair for 19.99 at payless tonight. I happened upon them and had to scoop them up after seeing you pair them with so many different outfits.  Thanks for the photos :)
