It's Cyber Monday and I've got shopping on the brain! (Go here to see my list of deals from major retailers.) I also have winter wear on the brain, and this plaid cape is making me jealous of all of you who live in cold climates and can wear stuff like this already! (It's still warm here in Florida.) The folks at Happy Scarf recently sent me this cape (I call it part winter coat, part warm blanket), and I have to say that I'm a huge fan. When I put this look together, I was picturing myself working in NYC, walking to work on a chilly day (with some gloves and ear muffs). It's hard to tell without seeing it in person, but it's more like buying a winter coat, than a scarf or accessory - it's really that thick and warm. I can't wait to wear it with jeans this winter, and there are several different ways you can style it (see this YouTube video and the picture below) and today they are offering 20% off for Cyber Monday. What do you think - would you rock the plaid cape? What are you planning to buy on Cyber Monday?
Plaid cape: c/o Happy Scarf, $84 (20% off today for Cyber Monday)
Leather skirt: Handed down from a friend
Tights: Hue via TJ Maxx, $10
Belt: Forever 21, $10
Boots: Cynthia Rowley via TJ Maxx, $85

The cape is definitely a hard trend to pull off, but you did a great job. Belting the cape gives it a bit more structure so you don't look like you are getting swallowed.
ReplyDeleteOOh that is a super cute cape! Too bad it isn't practical for Florida right now ;)

Also picked up an equestrian print scarf from Primark over the weekend; you can see it here - http://www.thankfifi.com/2011/11/start-with-yellow-ochre/ It reminded me a bit of your Happy Scarf zebra I love so much! Did you hit Primark when you were here?x

I own a wool cape and love it too, but frankly, these aren't easy to wear in cold climates either. I've found it doesn't keep me warm enough once the temperature drops below 40, and the temperature's been below that for quite a while now in Wisconsin. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteawww man this cape makes me wish it got colder here in Orlando. Love how you styled it! I think it might cool down in the next few days so keep it in the front of your closet because it looks great!
