Today's Everyday Fashion: Repeat Offender

Cobalt and cognac. A combination that I have repeated many times (like here and here) and one that I absolutely love. I wore this to a technology event in Orlando on Tuesday night. (I'm on the planning committee.) A guest at the event asked me where I had gotten my inspiration for my outfit and for once I actually didn't have any specific inspiration in mind! These are colors I often wear together so it was one of the first pairings I thought of when I bought the skirt. Tell me - what are some of your favorite color combinations? Do you like wearing brown and blue together?

Cardigan: Gap, $18
Shirt: Express, $30 (my shirt is from last fall but I think Express is using the same material this year, see below)
Skirt: Limited, $38
Belt: Limited, $15
Shoes: Restricted via Endless, $40
Purse: c/o It's in the Bag, $99
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift

1. Express leopard top, $49.90

3. ASOS cognac belt, $20.95

  1. You look amazing!  And why haven't I thought of cobalt and leopard before?!  The dark blue takes the print to a whole different level for work-wear.  I am going to try this soon!
    Thanks J! :-)

  3. Cobalt blue almost seems like a neutral in my closet these days.  The skirt and leopard look fantastic together.  I wore my snake print top with my cobalt blue skirt and really liked it!    Heather

Cobalt blue is one of my FAVORITE colors to wear! And it works in every season! (Although you don't have as much seasonal change in FL as we do in IL! ;))

  12. Hey if it's not broke, don't fix it :)

I do repeat offenders a lot, since I have to dress up for work everyday. But I stick to winning combinations ... which is what I think you did here :)

  18. The bold hue of cobalt and the statement of the leopard print is perfect, while at first you may think that the two would compete... the actually compliment each other amazingly. I love this outfit, everything goes together so well.

  19. The way in which your Top-Bottom-Sides, (i.e., your cardigan/shirt/belt--your shoes--your purse), are all in neutral colors *around* your skirt............ well, that just makes your lovely cobalt blue skirt really  *G.*L.*O.*W.*  (in contrast), J............ almost like stained glass.    Simply stunning!!

In your blogpost of 4/16/11, I love how you combined navy-turquoise-cognac in your outfit, too.    I particularly like *bright*-turquoise prints or stripes ON a really *deep*-navy background like this:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/82156453/bright-turquoise-leaves-rimmed-with-navy    (By the way, I have no connection and/or alliance with the artist, at all----i.e., I just like these two pretty colors together!)    Years ago for my younger sister's birthday, I bought her a sleeveless rayon sheath dress in a print that had small, bright-turquoise palm leaves............ (ON a deep-navy background)............ which, I swear, *glowed*, (i.e., simply in contrast *to* the deep-navy background), at night AND during the day, too, (haha)!!    You'd think THAT type of print would've been really hard to style;  but my *amazing* sister dressed it up (and down!) with a turquoise jacket;  and also with different colors and styles of cardigans/shoes/purses/jewelry/scarves.    Anyway, bright-turquoise prints or stripes ON a deep-navy background is one of my favorite color combinations!!

  22. I love how the cobalt really pops against the leopard and solid cognac.  And I'm always a sucker for leopard.  Interestingly, I wore several royal blue and orange outfits this week.  Mostly, I think, because I wanted to keep carrying the orange handbag I carried the first day.
