Today's Everyday Fashion: Halloween Part 1

I call this look the "naked blazer" or "the Sharon Stone." It started out as a regular outfit post. I figured I had seen enough celebrities and models in catalogs wearing a blazer with nothing underneath, and that I should give the trend a try. But I looked and felt a little silly to be wearing it in real life. Since it's so close to Halloween, I decided to go ahead and share it as a pretty cute Halloween costume idea though. It's easy to do (especially if you aren't into anything too "costumey") and it's a hot look overall (what is it with Halloween and needing to look "hot"?). So I posted it. You can be Sharon Stone for Halloween this year, and tomorrow I'm going to show you what I'm dressing up as! Have you ever worn the "naked blazer" look - in real life or in a costume?

  1. ROCK ON, J! I loove the naked blazer look!  I rock it from time to time when I paint the town. It IS a hot look. But I'm a solid B cup. If you are larger chested, perhaps this look isn't for you.  But you look sick! Rock it girl!

  3. This would scare me! I would be afraid of flashing someone, ha ha.  Although you ended up not actually really wearing this outfit, you really do rock it!  It would look great for a New Years Eve party with some serious silver bling!   Heather

  4. I've always wanted to do that, but never have. If I found a time and a place i would definitely do it! Enjoy Halloween!

  6. I think this is a great idea, and doesn't necessarily have to be a Halloween costume:)) on a different note, I'd like to ask you about the MJR website. Well, you seem to find great bargains over there, but every single time I go on their website I can' t find anything docent or even closely similar to the items you purchase. Do I have to act faster or what is the trick? Thanks! P.S. I love your website!

  9. Julianzhos - I know you meant this for J, but I shop on MJRSales from time to time, and it's basically how you described. You really do have to act fast! A bunch of things I have in my Shopping Cart are already purchased by the time I try to check out!  It's always Hit or Miss with MJRSales for me. BHO Factory Outlet is a similar website you might want to try, but even that can get pricey.

  10. The white blazer and dress pants also works if you want to be Don Johnson from Miami Vice! Just throw a pale tank top or t-shirt underneath it. I recently did that for a friends 1980's themed party.

It looks great, by the way!

  11. Many years ago there was a new, young, woman hired at my office. She had a beautiful orange suit that she wore often, always with nothing underneath. I wondered what she could possibly be thinking.
I like the look, I bought the components but haven't gotten out the door yet.

  12. You look great and totally rock this look! I understand the feeling silly but it might be fun for a date night! I feel like it might be kind of uncomfortable in reality but you def pull it off! Can't wait to see your Halloween costume! I'm still figuring out what I'm going to be!

  13. I love that blazer! I will need to get one next year for sure!

On another note, I have a question about MJR Sales. How would you know if an item is from VS? I know it says Famous Catalog. Is that just VS stuff or other companies too?

    Thanks!

  14. J, we haven't seen you with your wedding rings lately.. Is everything OK?

  15. I have those white skinnies from Express. Love em! (although up north its in the 30s today, so the window for an all white outfit has passed...unless its a fab winter white dress)

  16. I haven't worn my wedding rings since early July because of a new food allergy and eczema.  Occasionally someone will ask me about my marriage...we are happier than ever!  Don't make assumptions - it's rude!

  17. I did it one year for a costume party in college! Easiest costume ever.

  18. It's good looking! Maybe too daring for every day life...

Could we have more outfits meant for fall and winter! Wish I had the Florida weather but it will be snowing shortly where I live...

  24. Thanks for your concern! I really value my privacy though and can't comment on this particular
topic right now. Thanks for understanding and for granting me that
    privacy!

  29. Yes, MJR Is a like a treasure hunt. The good stuff gets snapped up pretty fast! Here's a link to my post with some tips that will hopefully help. Also, I would recommend sticking to the "New Arrivals" section because all the good stuff doesn't last long! http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html

Here is a link to a video tour of my closet! I recently moved so I've got a whole new set up, but some of the things are really similar. I'll be doing a new video of my new closet this winter! http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/06/peek-inside-my-closet.html

  36. I understand and I'm sorry. I was just wondering because I found you through your FL website and looked for you on fb to find your blog but I found "Jeanette Scott" instead. Just confused and I wish you the best!

  37. I actually don't think it's rude. I didn't assume anything. It was merely a question... to J, and NOTto you. Since following J on her blog, I have never seen a pic without them and she often includes her husband in the description of the outfits so I was truly concern.

  38. Thanks Jen! I try to keep my name private - if you notice it's not anywhere on the blog. :-) Long story but I go by both last names. And my Facebook profile is also private - I'm only "friends" with people that I know in person/are family.  If you want to connect with me on Facebook, check out my fan page, I'm on there way more often anyway! http://www.facebook.com/jseverydayfashion

  39. I have worn the "naked blazer" before when I was in better shape!  If you wear it, be warned, guys love it, but you'll get nasty looks from girls all night!
