Today's Everyday Fashion: Guest Post

This is a guest post while J is away on vacation. Everyone give Caitlin a big warm welcome!

I immediately loved the yellow and red combination Michelle Obama is wearing. The cardigan/dress is a classic style, and I really like the idea of a clear belt; it cinches the waist without adding more color. Since I don't have one in my closet, I tried the outfit with a gray belt and shoes. White, black, and brown would also very easily go with the outfit. It was very comfortable, versatile, fun to wear, and it is a good transition from summer to fall. I wore it while on vacation in Italy, however one could wear it to work, dinner, church, etc. - it's a really versatile look!

  21. Love her look, from head to toes. The layering, the yellow sweatshirt and those shoes, are simply perfect. Absolutely fantastic combination, stylish, powerful, and sublime.  Before,I hate pairing yellow and red together, but now, I'm loving it!

  22. I honestly don't see the big deal is about Michelle Obama. I certainly don't look to her for my fashion ideas.

  23. The post isn't about Michelle Obama- it's about fashion, pure and simple. If you don't like the particular outfit, that's ok! Everyone is entitled to their different tastes. :)

  25. Caitlin, you look beautfiul!! I love your inspiration photo and your look is spot-on!  And you're right about the clear belt - what a unique way to show off your waist if you don't want to over-load on color or maybe with an outfit that already has a lot of print to it.  Great post, dear!

  32. I think Michelle Obama is classic, stylish, sophisticated. I would LOVE to always be spot on with my fashion sense as she is. I'm sure she has a stylist helping her, but I've also seen interviews with her and she actually shops at malls like we do. As a result, her style is accessible to most people. Plus, the woman has curves like most of us do - she's a fashionista to look up to who isn't stick thin making her style, again, accessible. How perfect that you were inspired by Michelle Obama's outfit, Caitlin. You hit the nail on the head with this look!

  33. Thank you! What I also like is that this outfit is good for a wide range of ages- I'm 24!

  35. Personally I think Michelle Obama has great style! and yes this is not about her it is about getting inspiration from everywhere, people can get inspired from a nature picture. I think people confuse their dislike for her with other things she is doing or wearing...
