Today's Everyday Fashion: Almost My Birthday

Let the birthday celebration begin! The big 2-8 is coming up this Saturday, but I'm starting the fun early tonight with some blogger friends! My mantra for birthdays? Wear what you want! I used to wear a party dress to the office on my birthday. When people would ask why I was so dressed up, I would say "It's my birthday!" (duh) I haven't decided for sure if I'm going to wear this tonight, but whatever it is I guarantee it will be really, really fun because this is my one time a year to totally let loose! Do you dress up on your birthday?

ps. This shirt is way too bulky to tuck in! I appreciate your suggestions but besides not physically being able to tuck, I also kind of prefer the drama of it un-tucked. That is my whole point about it being my b-day - I'm like a little kid who wants to wear their cowboy boots and tutu. The more outrageous, the better because on this day anything goes. :-)

  1. i love this look! its so crazy you shirt is almost identical to the inspiration photo. the only change i would make is tucking in the shirt all the way around like the model did - it seems a little bulky and long in the back for such a chic look. you have inspired me to really care about what i wear everyday!

  3. I am big fan of your fashion blog, J!  MY birthday is this Saturday too!  The big 2-5 for me. =)  I definitely love to dress up for my birthday, what girl doesn't?!  Last year, I bought 3 new dresses for my birthday weekend with my boyfriend.  My wallet hated me but I think for a special occasion, why not?

Love the look! I would try tucking in the shirt in the back too, I think it would make the outfit stand out a little more.

  4. I love this outfit! It's so simple but chic. I recently became a fan of your blog, I love how you take inspiration photos and show how to recreate the same look with affordable pieces. My question for you is - how do you get so tan?? Your skin looks so healthy and glowing!!

  8. Well Happy Birthday! Yes, every girl should dress up for her birthday no matter how old you get. You only get to celebrate once a year, so do it up fashionably!

The color of the blouse is really pretty.  Paired with the black it really makes it shine!

  17. Thanks Monica! And happy b-day early! This shirt is actually way too bulky to tuck in, and I actually kind of prefer the drama of it un-tucked. That was my
whole point about it almost being my b-day. I'm like a little kid who
insists on wearing their cowboy boots and tutu on the their b-day. The

  20. I'm a July 30th birthday too!  I'm turning 27 on Saturday.  I do try and wear what I want to on my birthday.  My sister passed away 8 years ago (9 days before my birthday) so ever since then I cherish every birthday and make the absolute most of it.

Love the outfit!  Happy Birthday a couple days early :)

  22. Thank you Snapshots! As for my tan skin, as Gaga would say. "baby, I was born this way." :-) The full story: I am American Indian. I live in FL, but I wear SPF religiously and hardly ever have time for the pool. I've been trying to track down some baby pics to share - I think my blond hair throws people off (I'm considering going darker this fall!) but the skin is all natural.

  38. I just celebrated the 20th anniversary of my 30th Birthday! I ALWAYS dress up on my Birthday. You should SEE my fascinator and "jewelry"! It was fun.....in the Philippines, it is common practice to bring your own birthday cake to share with your friends and co-workers. I LOVE it that I get to decide what I do for my birthday. Hope your day was awesome! Cheers! xoxo

  39. Very cute top. If it goes missing, you'll know where to find it ;)

I'm not sure I like how long it is in the back, but tucking it in is a must! I love the skirt and shoes also! I just don't think it would have looked right paired with anything else!
