Flashback Friday: Graphic Tees
[Click the photo to view it larger.] Okay, okay... so it's a day early for Flashback Friday, but it has been a couple of weeks since I've done one, and I'm still recovering from my "vacation" so here it is! I have always loved graphic tees. I wore them tons in high school, a lot in college, and then I stopped. I felt like they were to immature, so for awhile I didn't wear them at all. But then I realized it's really all in how you wear them, because now I believe that they can look quite sophisticated!
Styling tips: I love graphic tees under blazers (a la Kate Moss), and I also love adding a random pop of color with a graphic tee that exists no where else in your outfit. A third way to wear them is to match a graphic tee to another color in your outfit so that both pieces really pop. Do you wear graphic tees? How do you style them?

I love graphic tees, but I also stopped wearing them after college, because I thought they just looked sloppy. But I think what you've done here is great! I absolutely love the 2 shots you have with knee-high boots. Is there any way you can link back to the old posts, or would searching in the archives be best? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Greta! The best way to search my outfit photos is on Facebook. My 500+ outfits are all in 3 photo albums called "J's Everyday Outfits" and you can conveniently view all the thumbnails at once. I'm also happy to answer any questions about what I'm wearing, just let me know!
ReplyDeleteI too love graphic t's. My love was reinvigorated after seeing the movie Hitch where Eva Mendez totally rocks the t/blazer combo.
ReplyDeleteI love graphic tees! But I usually wear them with short shorts and some pigtails. I love the jeans/boots idea with one though!
ReplyDeleteI've avoided wearing graphic ts (I don't know if I own any even!) because I thought they were too casual, but I love the ones you dress up with a blazer! I just need to get some jean shorts and I'll be set!
ReplyDeleteI feel all out of sorts since this am and seeing your post. I have been excited thinking it is Friday... whompwhomp and it's really Thursday!
ReplyDeleteBut I love all the pictures! :)
It's letting me comment again! But anyways, the point of this was to say WOW!! I can never make a graphic tee look stylish or pretty in any way so I never buy one. But I love how you do it! Specially the ones with the blazers and the skirts. I always used to just put on a tee and jeans and sneakers and out the door but it looks like small little details can make this a perfect everyday outfit. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually wear graphic tee's but I just bought a really cute one from old navy last weekend so this post is really helpful in getting styling ideas!

You do the graphic tee look really well. I however have not mastered this look quite yet.
ReplyDeleteI think you totally pull this off. I honestly wear them two or 3 times a year. I feel like the neck is too high and it make my boobs pop out - maybe it's all in my head, but after seeing your recap I might just try them with a blazer.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have a lot of graphic Ts.
ReplyDeleteVictoria, if you look closely I used the same ones over and over again in these photos. :-) And graphic tees are cheap - none of them cost more than $8-15!
ReplyDeleteJ-
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and I love it! Where did you get the blazer you are wearing in the jean shorts outfit? I love it and have been looking for one like it.
Thanks!
THank you Court! I got that blazer a couple years ago at Gap. J.Crew was selling an identical one for $300, and I bought mine at Gap for $70. You can see the Flashback Friday I did with it (14 looks!) here. They are all archived under "Favorite Posts" http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/flashback-friday-navy-blazer.html
ReplyDeleteI am a HUGE graphic tee fanatic because they are so versatile. I've worn them to work under a cardigan or a blazer, on a tshirt and jeans lazy day and dressed up with jewelry for a dinner and drinks! Old Navy and Target normally have good deals on them too!!
ReplyDeleteI recently found your blog after your collabo with LearnVest and I am glad I did. I spent all weekend perusing old posts. This is one of my faves! You do a great job making a graphic T-shirt versatile.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tia and welcome to the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this. I don't wear graphic tees too often because if you don't style them properly they look horrible. But you sure know how to style them. I especially loveeee them with the blazers!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, love the tees! I am constantly inspired how a simple graphic tee can be paired with a favorite outfit to create such a unique style! Some more
ReplyDeleteexamples of stylish
womens tshirts for further inspiration. So many
possibilities, thanks for sharing your ideas!
Can you please suggest a few places to purchase these at the great prices you mentioned?
ReplyDeleteTrista, my favorite place for graphic tees is definitely Forever 21 - that's where most of mine are from and they are usually less than $10. I also like H&M and Zara for graphic tees!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can't take it anymore, you have amazing legs, what is your workout routine!!?
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to my fitness post! I don't really do anything crazy though - run 3 miles a week, an elliptical session or a workout video here and there. Nothing specifically for my legs. :-) http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2010/09/my-fitness-story.html
ReplyDeleteA friend shared this link with me after a discussion on styling tees. I love all of these looks! Is there anyway you can pin this on Pinterest? I can't seem to get it to pin and I want to save it on my fashion board! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it won't pin for you! You could try right clicking, saving the photo to your computer? It won't credit the source, but you can add that in (click "Edit" and add the link), and if not no biggie!
