Today's Everyday Fashion: Headed Home

I have a confession: I've been wearing this outfit a lot lately. I threw it on in a hurry one morning, and then it became my go-to for a couple (errr several) other days that I was in a hurry. This outfit is so comfy though; I had to wear it (yet again) for my plane ride home from Austin. Tell me, what do you prefer to wear for air travel? Jeans, a maxi dress, or something else? Do you wear mostly flat shoes or sometimes heels?

Occasion: Air travel
Shirt: c/o MJR Sales, $14 (Enter this into the search box: FAMOUS CATALOG CUT OUT SHOULDER TOP)
Jeans: American Eagle, $33
Belt: H&M, $20
Shoes: Guess/DSW, $21
Necklace: c/o Stella & Dot

  1. I typically wear flats and layers (jeans, a tee, a jacket) for travel. If I were a maxi dress kind of girl,I think I'd wear one of those, they look so comfy! I love this outfit you're wearing for your trip home :)

  2. I usualy wear flats and jeans with layers on top (you never know if the plane is going to be super hot or super cold).

  3. same here. jeans, chucks, top and a warm sweater-like something, because on the plane it's always freezzzzzing

  7. I only ever wear flats (except for weddings!), so flats or boots for the airport. I generally cuff my jeans too!

  8. I always always wear flat shoes, preferably running shoes, in case I have to make a mad dash to make a connection. Last month I decided to wear flats, which were easier to remove at security, but kept slipping off my feet while running to my connecting gate, and I just missed my plane by seconds. So from now on, running shoes only. :) I'd rather be on the plane than standing there at the gate looking stylish as the plane pulls away...

  9. I have these shoes and it says on them (and on the box WGCYDNEY - so, CYDNEY might be the name, and 'WG' stands for wedges?...) DSW doesn't have it online, but quite a few of them have still this model in stores ($49). Recently I saw them in South Bend, IN and in Skokie, IL (multiple sizes)

Azure, why do you get to the airport so late?! That give me anxiety just thinking about it haha! Shoes that you can walk in quickly in are a must, but I have bumped into an ex-boyfriend, colleagues and future business opportunities at the airport, so I'm a stickler for looking stylish! You never know who you are going to meet!

@d4b691720f72f17e1b766027edf61f05:disqus , the style name is WGCYDNEY but I've never been able to find them online. I just got them from DSW in the store so they could still have them, plus I've heard from tons of readers that they found them at Stein Mart over the past couple weeks!

Olivia, I buy one purse and wear it for an entire year. (unless it's at night, then I usually switch to a clutch) Right now I'm carrying: http://www.lastcall.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod670099&eItemId=prod670099&cmCat=search&searchType=SEARCH&parentId=&icid=&rte=%252Fsearch.jhtml%253FNtt%253DJuicy%252BCouture%2526_requestid%253D9036%2526N%253D4294967276

  13. I always start out in jeans and a cute top but, somehow I always seem to land in yoga pants and a sweat shirt? ;) Love the shoes, I need me a pair!

  14. I always wear jeans, t, cozy cashmere cardie (always cold) with a scarf to use as a pillow or blanket, and cute heels that I can walk in. I can always take them off to dash (and have). I refuse to fly looking like a slob, and always get better service/seats when I'm well put together. And I'm plenty comfortable too :)

J-So great to meet you this weekend, you shared so much great information! Thank you! I love this outfit, I am seeing rolled jeans everywhere these days. Air travel style for me would be jeans or shorts and flats. Leaving Wednesday for Bahamas, may have to try this look! ;) @missatxfashion

  17. When i flew into Austin this week, I wore my first Maxi dress and loved it. It is hands down the best travel outfit (I wore mine with flats and a cardigan). It was comfortable, didn't stick anywhere, and the shoes were easy to put on and off (for security and on the plane) and when I left Portland, OR, it was raining, so the cardigan went well, and when I reached Austin it was sunny and beautiful, so I shed the cardigan and rocked the strappiness of it. Loved it.

@97f3f1b3633b02427c3275a853f841f9:disqus welcome to the blog! :-) Transitioning from college can be tough (I had a lot of trial and error myself) so I hope I can help!

  22. Ha, no, you misunderstood. I don't arrive at the airport late. Every time I fly somewhere I have to connect, and often the first flight is delayed and therefore makes me have to run to the catch my *connecting* flight. I travel a ton and I once went on a 3-year losing streak where every single time I flew there was a major delay, so I have learned it's better to play it safe if you want to maximize your chances of getting to your destination in one day. Although for some reason I decided to risk it this last time and was burned again. :) Maybe not everyone has my bad luck though.

Haha, gotcha! I pretty much insist on nonstop flights at this point, but that totally makes sense to plan for flat/comfy shoes if you might be in that situation. :-)

  24. I usually go on long trips and have a large bag that I insist on handling myself. So I wear flats because I'll topple over otherwise. I have worn a low-heeled boot because they are sturdy. I always wear layers, I freeze on planes. Skirts are too much maintenance when you are trying to get comfortable in that small space on the plane so always jeans.

  27. Surprised no one else voted for leggings on a plane! I like leggings, tunic sweater, cardigan, scarf, flat boots. I've done mostly winter travel tho, obviously summer would be different.

  28. I'm flying to good ole Orlando in the morning. I always semi dress up to travel, nice slacks, top and always always always a jacket or blazer and short heels. My last flight I did wear jeans becuz darnit, they are just plain comfortable. I still dressed up the top though. My mantra is be comfortable, but don't look like a slob. It is still cold in Idaho, welcome Orlando humidity!!!!! If I see you, I'll wave and say hi.

  29. i like to be comfortable and fashionable
must have the legs and arms covered just so i won't freeze on the plane

  30. I love this outfit! I have been recently obsessed with green (recently as in since st. pattys day when I needed an outfit and bought 3 different green shirts because I previously owned nothing in the color). At first I forced myself to wear the shirts to legitmize my need for buying them...and now I find them my go to pieces. I've only worn them with jeans and brown/earth tone accents...how would you go about dressing it up a bit? with black possibly?

  31. @fb0f5f13fd06eecee1e4a98b34cb5a8b what shade of green are the shirts? Olive like this shirt, or St. Patty's green?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Olive. Two are almost exactly the shade as the one you are wearing, and ones a little darker...closer to a hunter green!

  33. @fb0f5f13fd06eecee1e4a98b34cb5a8b  Olive is probably my favorite color to wear. I think it goes with absolutely everything! You could definitely do black bottoms, and then add a brown belt and shoes. I also think white jeans look good, and a leopard shoe or scarf is a great accent. I also recently wore an olive shirt with mustard bottoms and a turquoise necklace!
