Today's Everyday Fashion: Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time I started a blog called J's Everyday Fashion... and when I started that blog, I was kind of a really bad dresser. Okay, so I might be exaggerating a little bit but I still feel like I've come a long way in the 11 months I've been blogging. Take today's outfit - when I first started blogging I couldn't imagine more than one use for this shirt. But now I can think outside the box and see that the sky is really the limit.

Styling tips: If fashion doesn't come naturally to you, please don't give up! I'm living proof that style can be learned. Fashion, like with so many things in life, takes practice. It is a journey, and there will always be mistakes along the way. Learn from those fashion mistakes, and things you shouldn't have purchased, and use those experiences to become a better dresser in the future! If I can do it, you can too. ;-)

  1. I actually prefer your original pic! The skirt is slimmer and doesn't add all the bulk of the white, and it looks alot better without the belt as well. Just overall more sleek and refined.

  2. I love both! What's wrong with the first pic (blue skirt)? The first one almost looks like a dress to me while the white skirt makes it a bit more casual!

  3. I like the first pic/outfit better! The stark white/bulkiness in the current pic is not as flattering as the first look, in my humble opinion, but you look great in everything you wear!!

  4. This is so true! In the few short weeks I have been following you and a few others, my style and my wardrobe has improved dramatically. I still have a long ways to go but I am having so much fun learning and experimenting with different things and I have been getting compliments left and right. Thanks J!!

  5. That was totally not the point of today's post so I deleted the other picture! :-) What I wanted everyone to take away is just that fashion can be learned and that it's a journey and it's okay to make mistakes!

  8. I just went searching through your archives to find the original outfit, and I like it! :) In the future, if it is possible to link to references like this, that would make it a lot more convenient for your readers. P.S. Glad there is hope that I can learn to be a better dresser! :)

  9. Azure, I included the photo in my post this morning, but everyone was just commenting about the other outfit, which was not meant to be the focus of the post! I wanted it to be encouraging women on their own personal style journey because that's what's important, not this outfit vs. that outfit! :-)

  18. I love the chunky watch you paired with this outfit. I always forget about how small things like that complete the look. Looking good as usual, J!

  19. It's very true! You can quickly pick up ideas and inspiration from others and turn into a great stylist even if you were a horrible dresser in the past. You need to learn from your mistakes as well as others - like anything in life! It comes quickly and naturally once you get yourself "into it". By the way, I love this outfit!
