Today's Everyday Fashion: Double Trouble

Can too much of a good thing be a bad thing? Today is the first time that I'm wearing two belts layered on top of each other. I love the idea and think it can be tres chic (I do love my belts) but tell me - Would you wear two belts at the same time?

  4. Honestly, I think the outfit is a bit much. But style is so personal that it's hard to knock an outfit! :) Love those earrings!!

  6. I love the color blocking in this outfit -- it's great! The double belt is definitely cool.

  7. I "like" it and I think I would "love" it if you only wore the brown belt. : )

  8. Love, Love, Love the earrings. As for wearing two belts... I will try almost anything and if I thought it worked with the outfit then yes I would.

  9. I've already been wearing two belts at the same time. I saw some other girl do it on her blog and loved it. I just had to try. It looks great on you!

  10. As far as two belts here - I like it! looks good together. I am just not a big fan of red on orange.. I'd wear a different color skirt - may be plain white?...
J, yesterday I found on http://lookbook.nu/ this girl http://lookbook.nu/konstantina. I really like how she puts her colors together - very nice combinations. (you need to click on 'Looks' tab on her page to see all her pictures. I don't know if you ever check this site, but I thought you would find it interesting - they are regular people from all over the world who post pictures with their outfits.

  11. That's adorable that your boyfriend approves the outfits!! I can see how it could save you from a huge mishap, but of course you have the power to veto him!!

  12. Love the colors of the outfit and think it is perfect for FL. I would definitely take pictures with 2 belts but I think it would get annoying to actually wear out *think restroom*

  13. Would definitely be annoying with pants, but I would just lift the skirt up so it wouldn't disturb the belts. :-)

  14. Yes, I totally veto him all the time. :-) But he has a great eye for noticing things I never would have seen!

  15. Lena, thank you! I love Lookbook and I used to post there. I love that's it's "everyday" girls, but the fashion always still seems WAY far-out to me. I don't live in NYC, so it's hard to pull off so much that they show - my blog is meant to be a discussion of just exactly what we can get away with in urban America. :-)

  16. Haha...it doesn't look like the Romanian flag! The skirt is not yellow enough! :P

  17. The colors are nice. 2 belts is just odd - not for me. I think it says "trying to hard". While I'm criticizing ;-) I think the skirt is a bit short too. What do you do when you sit down? A friend of mine used to always wear short skirts and I got tired of the underwear sightings. It was just kind of weird in a "notice me" kind of way. After 30 it was just sort of inexcusable, esp. at work. Unless you are the most prim and proper person when sitting, your friends may feel like I did.

Choose one belt - a wide one would work best with this outfit.

  18. Kelly, thanks for your concern but I assure you I have no difficulties not showing my underwear when I sit down. Not sure what's up with your friends, but if they can't learn to sit in a skirt like a lady, then they shouldn't be wearing them. As for it being too short - I'm a little shocked b/c have you seen my blog?! This skirt is so not that short compared to what I usually wear! My legs are my strongest feature so while I'm in my 20's I plan to show them off. A lot. :-)

If we are talking about being appropriate at work - that is a totally different story. I would wear this skirt, but pulled down 5-6 inches around my hips so the hem reaches my knee (elastic waistbands are genius - you can wear them up or down). For a night out though? Totally appropriate.

  19. So your husband is like the fashion police? :-P

  20. I love the shoes, love the earrings. The belt looks, good, wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.
And that skirt is not too short. I think the problem is when the skirt is too straight, which this one isn't. The straighter it is, the more it rides up when you sit. I'm 44, I still have killer legs, and I wear short skirts to the office all the time. Life has to be fun every day and I won't act my age until I have to.

  21. I love the colors in this outfit. You always look amazing in everything you wear.
I'm learning so much from you...and yes, I would wear two belts. Looks good to me!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, I agree! and that's why we like your blog! )) That's why you have 10k fans )) I thought that you might find that girl's color combinations useful - you seem like a girl that likes colors ))

  23. This skirt is too short?!! )))))) This skirt is the perfect length! J just has long legs ;))
I agree that if you have nice legs, show them! I like short skirts myself, and my underwear is never showing. You can always wear long skirts at any age... So as my Grandma used to say - wear short while you can ))

  24. She does have some fun color combinations so thank you! I am ob-sessed with color so I appreciate any type of inspiration! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. My mom used to tell me the same thing Lena! Show off those legs while you have them! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love it! If you still have great legs, then I say it doesn't matter what age you are. I mean, think about Jen Anniston is anyone going to tell her that her short hemline is inappropriate? Um, no. Because she looks hot! :-)

  27. I would wear two belts at once - in fact, I just did last week! And I'd do it again. http://chasingdavies.blogspot.com/2011/04/double-trouble.html

  28. OMG did you see we both named it "Double Trouble"?!! haha!! That is too funny. I might have to try two skinnies like you did. :-)

  29. I have worn two belts before just not like this. I've worn one to keep my pants up and one to reign in my top. See the look here: http://ccscheapchic.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
I do like the belts like this though. They look like a single belt.

  30. Double belt?? Who knew it would be a genius move? While I do like this look, I think I would make it a bit more natural. White textured top, cognac sandals, gold or wood jewelry, and then use the double belt-thing-a-roo as my pop of color! And ahow off those legs, lady! You look great!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, that was just you being practical! :-) Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Fun fact-I an Romanian ;) and you did not remind me of our flag ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yay! haha! :-)

  34. Love, love, love this outfit! I'm not normally one to go for tons of brights, but this outfit is adorable. It makes me want to step outside my comfort zone & try some color!

& I totally love the layered belts!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hah!! I didn't even realize we both named it that - that is funny!

  36. I love the outfit and would totally wear it!
