Today's Everyday Fashion: Neon, Neon

I love neon. Maybe it's because I'm a child of the '80's, but I love it so much I wanted to find a way to wear it to work. The colors in this outfit remind me of the diving sticks I used in the pool as a kid = I'm in love.

Styling tips: The top half of this outfit is punchy and colorful. When making a large statement in your outfit like this, keep the rest of it simple. The choice to wear nude, super-professional shoes and neutral accessories was on purpose, to help keep the color within reason. Tell me - would you wear neon to work?

  7. This is so well put together! I tried to wear a neon shirt to work on casual Friday, but kept looking at myself in the mirror thinking "this is all wrong." Your outfit is inspiration to try again!

  8. i worked in a very conservative brokerage firm so probably would not have ever worn neon but this still looks professional. i am wondering how to add neon to my wardrobe now without being too much. all i have at this point are a pair of hot pink pointed toe heels which i could bust out but not sure how to make them look current...hhhmmm.

  9. I'm on the hunt for pink heels this year! I definitely think you can break them out. You could also try adding an inexpensive tank top or belt, like the ones I used here!

  11. I love these colors together!! You look awesome. I would definitely wear neon to work and my office is a relatively conservative enviornment. Are you wearing the gap belt with a bow? If so, where did you put the bow? I'm wearing that belt today and have the bow off to the side. Thank you!!

  12. Sarah, I put the bow in the middle of my back. When you layer the cardigan over the belt though, I did the opposite - put the buckle in the back and the bow in the front!

  15. I'm starting to build a work/career wardrobe (I'll be graduating from UCF in May), and I have purchased several skirts like the one you're wearing here.
    I was wondering:
How high up should the skirt be - for example, right at your natural waist? Or higher?
Also, what is an appropriate length? Should it be right above the knee? My skirts hit me below the knee and I think it may be making my short frame (I'm 5'2") even shorter. Should I get it altered? Or is it fine at that length?

    Thanks!

  16. It really depends on your body and the skirt, but my waist is located where the pink belt is, so I generally wear them lower than that. Unless it is a high-waisted skirt of course, and then it sits up higher. I think your skirts might be too long for you though - they should hit right at the knee/right above the knee. You could get them altered - but I recommend checking out the petite section at LOFT and Banana for some skirts that might fit you better there!

  17. I have a neon yellow knit cardigan that I got from LL Bean of all places. I wear it to work with darker colors and it always adds a fun punch of color to my outfit.

  20. I'd wear neon anywhere! You make it look amazing! I have trouble styling my long cardis like that. This will be good inspiration for me.

  24. Sorry, I've never shopped at Boden before so I won't be much help. But thank you! And feel free to share you opinions if you wind up ordering from them. I'm curious too!
