Today's Everyday Fashion: Make It Work... For Work

Today's look is all about dressing up your casual, basic pieces for work or another occasion where jeans aren't appropriate. At the core, this is a T-shirt and cargos, but with the shirt tucked in, and the addition of some heels, a belt and long necklace it really transforms the outfit! Make it work... for work. :-)

Styling tips: Are your pants too long for your shoes? (In other words, are your pants scrunched up around your ankles and/or won't fit over your shoes?) My favorite trick lately is to just roll them up! I've done it here with my skinny cargos, and the LOFT model also did it with her looser-fit pants. Give it a try!

  5. Those shoes are fab! I'm wearing cargo pants with stripe top today as well but with a jean jacket so it makes it a little more casual :) I definitely love the touch of sexy heels in this outfit. Can't wait to wear sandals!

  12. Hey J, I love your blog. Can you do an outfit for a professional job interview? Can you do various outfits, like a standard one that you might wear, and one that might show a little more personality? And what do you think, are blazers a must for a job interview?

  13. Love love this look! This is my fav as of yet, now I just gotta get some skinny cargos!! I've always wondered what to do when the bottom of my skinnies scrunch up! Thanks so much for the tip J, can't wait to try it!

  14. Thank you! I have had a job-interview post on my to-do list for ages, I will try to get that done for ya! :-) And I don't think a blazer is 100% necessary. I live in FL where it's too hot to wear one in the summer, so a classic collared shirt works just as well. I'll talk about that in my post. :-)

  15. Oh, I love these in brown too! Thanks for posting, I'm also going to share the link on Facebook. The buckles are so hot in my opinion. ;-) Ps. the inspiration photo is from Ann Taylor, I had it wrong earlier!

  16. I love the buckles too. The cruelest thing happened to me with the taupe shoes that you are wearing in a size 6 (my size). I had seen you wearing them on your blog. I gasped and started searching for them frantically online. I FOUND THEM on ebay! In my size! More than half off! After 2 days the lady took the shoes off of ebay!!!! I didn't know why and I was going to pay whatever it took to win them. I even wrote her on ebay and offered to pay her 100$ for them. She has never replied. I guess even she can't part with them! So I keep waiting for someone to give up the taupe ones on ebay.
