Today's Everyday Fashion: It's in the Mag
Do you ever look at a picture in a magazine and say to yourself "I could never look like that"? Well stop that right now! Some outfits might be unobtainable, and some of them no one should be wearing, but some are just what you need for a fresh take on your closet. Take today's inspiration from Lucky magazine (left). I had all the pieces I needed, this picture just gave me a little boost to make it happen. Anyone can do it - now get to collecting those magazine photos! :-)

Thanks for giving me another way to look at my black skinny jeans. Never thought of pairing them with a brown. Love that I'm not the only one who collects the magazine photos. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I have a binder full of them. I told him it's better than stacks of magazines cluttering up the house!
ReplyDeleteAnd, again... thank you for getting me to look at my closet from a different perspective!!
Thank you for this post. I love how your belt and shoes match, they really stand out. I am learning with you how to use what I have instead of keep buying useles items on impulse I really do appreciate it.

so so so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing that, thank you! It IS all about using what you already have. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarra! You are so sweet everyday, I really appreciate it. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! :-) I have tons of clippings on my computer and around the house too!! It's so inspirational to go back and look through everything, I'm glad I'm such a pack rat.
ReplyDeleteI like your version better :-). Your outfits are always so flattering!
ReplyDeleteNicely done. I actually like your shoe selection BETTER.
ReplyDeleteI need help!! I'm ditching my entire wardrobe and starting over. Well, not the entire thing, I might be able to work with some of it. What are some staple pieces that can be used to build a wardrobe around??
ReplyDeleteHow do you get your white shirt to layer so nicely? It must be made of a thinner material than most of my dress shirts.
ReplyDeleteKat, don't ditch your whole wardrobe! I'm a big fan of holding onto unique pieces for when they come back in style. (I'm going to do a post on this over the weekend if you want to check it out!) Another resource that might help: I have more than 300 outfits posted so far, you can see all of them easily on Facebook. I always find that looking at inspiration photos (from blogs, websites, magazines) helps me get ideas! ;-)

Before I found your blog I would browse through magazines look at the pics and think 'I could never put together an outfit like that!'.. your blog really opened my eyes though, it's not about having the exact same pieces, it is about imagination and creativity! You teach us how to RE-CREATE the outfit and you are doing an awesome job J, thanks!!!
ReplyDeletethanks girl, I will definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteYAY!! That is totally my mission with this blog. I'm so glad, thank you!!
ReplyDeleteErin, this particular shirt is from H&M and it's extremely sheer. It's just about as lightweight as a white collared shirt can get. :-) You might be able to achieve this look with a thicker white shirt, but I think the biggest difference would be comfort. I tend to feel restricted in a lot of heavy layers, but with a shirt light you almost can't feel it!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is fantastic and you always look amazing! I can tell you're really creative and you know your fashion. I'm especially impressed with how you pull it all together with such inexpensive pieces. Bravo to you! I'm a brand new blogger and it's great to get inspired by such creativity. Check out my blog and tell me what you think...http://fashion-isha.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon! I will definitely check it out!
