Today's Everyday Fashion: The Gun Show
I was faced with an interesting question yesterday: what does one wear to a gun show? I went with comfy jeans, comfy shoes and my latest find at TJ Maxx - a floral shirt that I though fit the bill. I tried taking my picture while we were at the show (how cool is this old Phillips 66 sign?!) but the sun wasn't cooperating so I snapped the left photo when I got home (don't hate, I'm still sick and had been crying = not cute). I shot a gun for the first time in my life and the whole experience freaked me out so much I cried - am I the only one this has happened to? I mean, I'm from the sticks of Kansas so you would think this would be no big deal, but I had never been that close to a gun and they are scary. I managed to shoot it twice and I'm determined to try again, but it was quite the adventure! :-)

ReplyDeleteand i'm loving the floral shirt. it's perfect with this ensemble!
cute and little
J, guns can be frightening. But at least you looked great shooting them!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this outfit! Definitely a high five on this one!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your reaction to shooting the gun! My best friend tried for the first time over the summer, and when we was done, she handed the pistol to me like it was a dirty diaper, holding onto it by a little thread. Haha.
Do a what's hot for spring post! I love everything you wear!
ReplyDeleteGun show chic! :) Love the old Phillips 66 sign as well, reminds me of the show on History Channel "American Pickers", I think they would love it too ;)

I've only ever seen a gun up close once--and it was in my friend's purse!
ReplyDeleteI was at her apartment and happened to look down and into her purse, and I said "Libby, there's a GUN in your purse!!" She looked at me like it was no big deal and said "yeah, it was my Christmas present from my parents." "But why??" "You never know when you might need it!" "When? Like when we're at the mall shopping??"
It was very strange. She's from the sticks in Georgia, and it seemed so odd to me, being from Chicago, that it would seem normal to carry a gun around in your purse (let alone get it as a gift from your parents!)
I probably would have cried too. :)
You look fantastic :D I love the whole outfit ;)
ReplyDeleteKisses.
your outfit is just perfect for the occasion! i've gone to a shooting range once, and i was oh-so-petrified after shooting the guns, hehe.

I cried too! And I live in Kansas. I shot two different types of hand guns at pumpkins and bowling pins. Haha. It's scary!

you look great. I can't even tell that you are sick. I would also be afraid to shot a gun.

It's been a LONG time since I've shot a gun so I'm not sure how I would react. But I hope that whatever my reaction I would look as cute as you do in this outfit. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love that Phlilips 66 sign!!
ReplyDeleteI've shot a gun multiple times - I grew up with 5 hunting brothers - but I've never actually been to a gun show!
I can guarantee you were probably the most fashionable one at the gun show! :) I love TJ's and the floral print shirt!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think I saw you at church the other week and I was going to say, "Are you J's everyday fashion?!" but unfortunately got caught up chatting...next time I'll say hi! Thanks so much for sharing your life with us!
It's on my list, hoping to post this week or next! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat was pretty much my reaction too. I barely managed to keep my eyes open when shooting it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And please say hi next time!! :-)
ReplyDeleteGuns are indeed scary, but remember this, it might help: It's much better to be on the shooting end than on the "shot at" end, 'k? You look great.
ReplyDeleteLove the blouse + the suede booties. My skinny pants can't cover my ankle booties :( Sad day.
