Today's Everyday Fashion: Flares are Back
I have sooo been looking forward to wearing these jeans that I scored at Gap for $15 a couple weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, I still love my skinny jeans, but I'm also excited that flares have come back in style full-force! Tell me - what is your favorite style pants to wear and why?
Why this works: My favorite thing about skinny pants is that you can wear any shoe height and they work. For pants this flared though, it's important to get the right heel height so the bells look just right. With a heel too short the bells will "puddle" and look sloppy, and with heels too high your pants will be too short.

I like skinny jeans for tucking into boots but otherwise I'm a bootcut girl all the way. I think the bootcut balances out my hips.
ReplyDeleteI am with Erin - I am a bootcut kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with skinny jeans is that the majority of people should not wear them....... there are only very few people who can pull them off.
You are one of them though. :-)
I definitely prefer flare jeans. I find them to be more flattering and I can wear them with mostly all of my shoes...which is very important. ;)
ReplyDeleteFinally! I spent the last 2 month searching for the perfect pair of wideleg/flare/bootcut jeans. I found incredible ones from Emerson Made & affordable ones at the Gap. Yay! But I won't give up my skinny jeans- too perfect with a pair of ballet flats or tucked into knee high boots.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I'm so glad flare is "back", I love flared pants, they're a lot more forgiving and figure-friendly :)
ReplyDeleteright now i just got a pair of skinny bootcut. they are just skinny jeans with a bootcut and they are more flattering on my shape. i also like flare and regular bootcut.
ReplyDeletei think that you should wear what you like, regardless of if it comes in or out of style. especially with something as basic as jeans. if they flatter you, stick with them no matter what is popular.
I love my skinny jeans, but it's true- the flare and bootcut are much for figure flattering! So happy to see other styles of jeans making a comeback!
ReplyDeleteI love flared leg jeans, too. But, I've heard that pants (other than skinny pants or crops) should end about a half inch from the floor. Your jeans in this picture look shorter than that. What is your general rule?
ReplyDeleteErin, makes total sense, I've never thought about it that way before - the bootcut balancing out a person's hips. I have absolutely no curves so the skinny creates hips for me. Great tip!
ReplyDeleteE.H., I wouldn't go any shorter than this. I agree that a half-inch from the floor is perfect, this is probably an inch from the floor so anything between that works for met! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo true! The best advice is to always dress for your body!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit on you! I totally want to recreate this!

I'm a little late but... I like the flares, it's one of the trends of my youth that brings back good memories. I had the coolest pair of plaid flares that I wore constantly in grade school. But I really don't like the trend to high waisted pants:) I am thin but I feel too restricted in that style and I don't think it's flattering to have your pants up to your rib cage. Love this look, love it with shirt tucked in and belt.
ReplyDeleteI love skinny jeans with high Boots but for rest I prefer flare jeans.I LOVE your leather Jacket. Is it still available in Banana Republic?
ReplyDeleteGreat find on the jeans. I love flare jeans.

OMG. I love it. I am so glad you rocked this look. Seriously, I am bringing out my 'bells' again this weekend. Let's just hope it stops raining/snowing/slushing here in Boston! Grrrrr.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE EmersonMade. Love love love. Did you buy those amazing BlueBells jeans??
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of excited about flares being back! There was a decent selection at the Gap, but they didn't have my size. I'm going to try another Gap at the Short Hills Mall, because I have a 40% coupon off any original market item. Jackpot! Plus I like how I can wear some sky high platforms with flares. :)
ReplyDeletenice post. thanks.
