Today's Everyday Fashion: Wild Child

I love Miley's bohemian style (photo left, from CoutureCandy.com) - so I decided to re-create it! I skipped the belly baring shirt and threw on a frayed corduroy jacket I've had since college. I think the outfit came out really cute, but not sure I have the guts to wear short shorts and boots like this. What's your take - would you wear this outfit?

Occasion: Music festival
Corduroy Jacket: Kansas boutique
Shirt: Forever 21, $8
Shorts: Abercrombie, $50
Belt: Gap, $40
Necklace: Stella & Dot, c/o stylist Lori McMinn
Boots: Urbanog.com, $24

  2. its cute but the proportions are a little off. a slouchier boot and slightly baggier shorts might work. but you kill anything you wear either way!

  3. Really cute! You seriously look amazing in anything you wear. You could wear a trash bag and still look amazing! However, I don't think the boots look right with the shorts; it doesn't really give off the bohemian look. You have AMAZING legs, might I add. So jealous :P.

  5. I agree that fringe boots and shorts with more room around the legs would be better. I also think a longer jacket is key. The Boho look demands looser fits. Nice call on not showing your stomach! That's a trend that's hard to translate to real life. And I like your belt a lot--nice addition.

  8. I think the outfit looks better on you than on Miley, however it is a little "young" looking. But Boho isn't my style, so what do I know!

  9. I love the outfit! You really rock it. I don't know that I have the courage to wear the heeled boots with shorts, but I don't know that I would think anything of someone else wearing it. It looks great.

  10. You can pull anything off with your cute figure, but I truly think this style is only for the really young crowd.

  11. I love the look, and you look great...it just seems to be a little young looking to me? Maybe I'm wrong...

  12. OK, you're taking fashion from a 17 year old girl? Really?! This is age appropriate for a teenager, not an adult. Unless it is for a street-walker, which I am guessing isn't the look you are wanting.

  13. Thanks everyone!

Sam, please read the caption before commenting. This is something I would NEVER leave the house in. The purpose of this blog is to show the entire fashion journey - not just when I actually step out of the house looking great, but when I try something and fail at it too. You guys have plenty of fashion mags to show you perfect pictures - I'm a regular girl showing you the whole story!

  14. J, Thanks for the response. If you really are showing "the entire fashion journey" though, why don't you ever show off clothes that are typical "older" fare. Sure, it would be just as inappropriate for you, but that's part of the journey too, right? I'd bet we don't ever see that.

  15. Samantha: 1. I'm not Benjamin Button and I don't age backwards, so seems silly to expect me to have clothes that are too old for me, no? 2. If you look back at my posts, I've actually copied 3 Talbots looks, all with models twice my age plus many other celebs who are way older than me. 3. This is my blog so at the end of the day I can choose to cover whatever age groups I want. I am happy to take suggestions on content that you would like me to cover but sarcastic statements such as "I'd bet we don't ever see that" won't be tolerated. Thanks! :-)

  16. Sarcasm isn't tolerated? Geeze, I've never written a blog but I think you better get a little more thick skinned when you decided to put yourself out there.

  17. The more I think about your comment the more it makes me mad. I said nothing vulgar and used no explicit language. I didn't call you names. And you would censor it? I think that says more about you than it does me and I bet many readers would agree though I doubt this post will be "allowed" through.

  20. I like this! I actually like it better than miley's outfit.  I definitely think that your choice is something a normal person would wear!
