I've always been a fan of creative work attire, so this J.Crew inspiration photo is right up my alley. My pale pink sweater and necklace are a close match to hers, my skirt is slightly more yellow (I like hers better) and my shoes are a similar print but in a toned down color palette. Dressing creatively at work always brightens up my day and I think as long as you are in dress code it signals to your boss you are happy to be there (one thing to note - my v-neck is too low for an office, so I suggest wearing a cami underneath). Do you dress creatively at work or do you play it safe?

Sweater: Express, old (similar)
Shoes: Banana Republic, $60
Necklace: My Stella & Dot website, $114
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift1. Chinese Laundry 2. Anne Klein 3. ZiGiny 4. ASOS 5. DSW 6. Calvin Klein |
Also - a little teaser about an upcoming project I'm working on! Tomorrow a picture of me sleeping naked (that's a metaphor) will be revealed, all in an effort to win $10,000 for my charity of choice - To Write Love on Her Arms - as part of National Sleep Naked Night. Stay tuned for more details!
I love yellow so this look is amazing! The brighter, the better if you ask me. Love it.

Cute! I love the inspiration pic too :)

I definitely try to be more creative but sometimes it's so easy to fall into the standard work attire slump.
ReplyDeleteI mean this with no sarcasm, but why is this creative? It's solid colors and leopard shoes, all of which I love, but it is rather normal. Or do you mean the pairing of colors in particular?
ReplyDeleteI love pink and yellow together! This is a creative, yet professional look that still shows some personality with the leopard pumps. Since my office is very casual, I can play around and experiment with different trends and looks. Heather
ReplyDeletelove this combo, that skirt is gorgeous!

I love this color combo - it's super creative. The shoes are fantastic too!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great outfit! I love to dress creatively for work. My job isn't in the style industry (wish it was!) so I use my attire as my creative outlet. Love your look today! Thanks for the inspiration!

jcrew is once of my vices :( I seriously could probably spend $1000 that I don't have there!
ReplyDeleteLove it! The colors look great on you :) A great reminder, too, that pink and yellow don't have to be regulated to Spring time.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! I do think her skinny belt in a almost the same hue as the skirt really pulls it together though. I have that sweater in electric blue! I haven't worn it in a while but never tossed it bc it was one of the first things I paid full price for at Express, but now I am so happy I have held on to it because I am loving the color with fall cognac basics and mustard accessories.
ReplyDeleteCute! I love this color combo, and it's something I wouldn't think to pair together. I dress as creatively as possible, but my work environment is conservative.
ReplyDeleteLove this recreation! I definitely need some leopard heels!

I work from home, so I usually work in sweat pants. But if I was in an office, I would totally wear that outfit! It's so cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit. I play it safe at work because I wear scrubs all day. And I play it pretty safe when I go out. I like dressing up and I'm trying to move out of my comfort zone. I have purchased more pieces with color in them, rather then the usual black.

Love this outfit. It is perfect for my work. I agree J.Crew has some pretty awesome work wear & work wear inspiration!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! I love it! I think her more subdued skirt color is preferable as well, but your outfit just the way it is would brighten up any office. Love it!

I love this outfit! This is something I would totally wear to work. I think adding color into my wardrobe is important to being happy and successful at work!
ReplyDeletecute and perfect look compared to the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite outfit you have ever posted. You look professional and fashionable without being trendy. It also works well for ages 18-80!
ReplyDeleteThis yellow pencil skirt is a CLASSIC. Love!

The yellow reminds me of the warm weather again

A) Oh, this is such a *pretty* PALE PINK and GOLDEN YELLOW outfit!! Nature-wise, it reminds me~~(no kidding, J.!!)~~of a very early-morning SUNRISE in the middle of Spring, i.e., where everything outside is beautiful; warm; quiet----(except for the soft chirping of little birds waking up in their trees/bushes!!)----and ever-so-peaceful............ with the dawn's sky being a very *PALE PINK* first............ followed by the *GOLDEN YELLOW* of a glorious sun!!
ReplyDeleteThen----(i.e., after a SUNRISE on a naturally-*g.l.o.r.i.o.u.s.* Springtime morning like that!!)----the simple PROSPECT of a lovely; kind; caring; and optimistic day ahead s.h.o.u.l.d. ............ ideally and hopefully............ be there FOR all young adults............ (not only here in the U.S., but also all over the world, too)!!
B) But (as you know) often it's NOT, though, which is why your Charity effort (Above) for To Write Love on Her Arms ............ is just so, *S.O. V.I.T.A.L.*!! Having longtime career experience as a College Health Nurse, I'm very impressed with two particular statements in their "VISION":
#1) "The vision is that community and hope and help would replace secrets and silence." #2) "The vision is better endings. The vision is the restoration of broken families and broken relationships. The vision is people
finding life, finding freedom, finding love. The vision is graduation,
a Super Bowl, a wedding, a child, A SUNRISE. The vision is people
becoming incredible parents, people breaking cycles, making change."
C) "A SUNRISE" (capital letters mine!!)............ is not only what you're beautifully WEARING today, J. ............ but also what you're (metaphorically) GIVING TO............ many young adult readers of this blog............ and to lots of individuals genuinely s.u.f.f.e.r.i.n.g. in "secrets and silence" out there, too!! ('Just a Little Thought O' Mine here, you know).
I always try to do something with a little creativity at work. Otherwise I just wouldn't be me!
ReplyDeletehttp://work-it-blog.blogspot.com/
I can't wait to dress creatively in the workplace once I get a proper job!! I love the combination of the pale pink and the yellow; I would have never paired them together but they look fantastic :)

I'm always amazed at how you successfully budget each month and yet still have so many pieces that match up to your inspiration photos so well. I love this match up in particular and I agree that it's more fun to dress up for the office than to just wear the same thing day in and day out. I find my day is so much better when I dress up simply because I feel better!
ReplyDeletewww.whenwewander.blogspot.com
I love to dress creatively at work! I do have some restrictions because it's a business casual environment, but that doesn't mean I can't still infuse my personal style.
ReplyDeleteI really love this look and the two colors together. Great J. Crew inspiration outfit on a budget!

looks cute =)) but gosh how expensive the jewelry is =))
ReplyDeleteGood deals here =) http://moyapearls.com/
You look amazing. Love the whole outfit and would wear it in a heartbeat. I would definitely say I am a creative dresser at work - I love to dress in a classic way and add interest through colour, pattern and texture. Here are a couple of examples: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/10/fall-attire-camel-and-navy.html and http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/09/fall-suiting-emerald-and-blue.html
