This outfit is loosely based on Olivia Palermo's and contains one of my favorite fall trends, the army jacket. I'm loving army jackets for their versatility, and how comfortable and yet stylish they are. I did two national TV segments on celebrity-inspired fall trends recently, and this outfit was featured in both. (Daytime - the video is unfortunately really blurry - and Life, Love, Shopping which airs on We TV.) Will you be rocking an army jacket this year?
Also - it was tough to put the experience into words, but a full recap of the mission trip I took to Sierra Leone is now posted, go here if you'd like to read it.

This is a great jacket and a great fall look. I have been rocking mine for the last few years. Looking forward to pairing mine with oxblood/burgundy and neon. Heather
ReplyDeleteSuper, super cute!
ReplyDeleteThese jackets seem to be on "trend" every season, right? i distinctly remember it being a trend over the last 5 years.
ReplyDeleteBut it's timeless. The industry's or the internet's declaration of a trend is mind boggling at times.
I like how you paired this jacket with a striped shirt peeking through, cute!

Nothing like a cargo jacket to add some "cool" to your look - I like how you used a skinnier belt because I think it looks more flattering!

Is there something wrong with me? I already own a long winter military style coat, a short winter military style jacket, and a canvas military style jacket. All are army green. Yet, I want to buy every single jacket featured here. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this trend. I have two of these style jackets and i wear them all the time! they look classic yet edgy. And now that you've introduced me to Conversation Pieces, I literally want everything on the site, including that jacket! Aye!

Your final look is the perfect mix between dressy and casual and how comfortable and yet stylish they are.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I believe mine is a size Small.
ReplyDeleteLighter-weight Army jackets like yours----which is (amazingly) 100% linen!!----and which have a CINCHED waist, i.e., with either drag string waist TIES (also like yours); or an interior cinching CORD along the jacket's waist, (e.g., see #3 from Amazon, Above)............ all just look *so* feminine............ compared TO the old, very boxy and heavy Army jackets............ which almost felt as if they were made out of the same, traditional olive-green canvas that *Camping Tents* used to be made out of, (haha)!!
ReplyDelete'Great Army jacket............ *b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l.* outfit, J.!!
I bought an army jacket years ago from GAP and get compliments on it every time I wear it. They never go out of style.
ReplyDeleteJust bought the J.Crew military jacket and am in LOVE. It's beautiful and rocks my world!
ReplyDeletebought the Old Navy Army Jacket with a 25% off coupon. When I went to visit my college freshman all the girls in the dorm LOVED it!!! Made me feel fantastic! I told my daughter..".I can leave it for you....but I really don't want to". She told me "Mom your losing your maternal instincts and I have only been gone for 6 weeks" LOL.
ReplyDeletePS: it is still in MY closet!!
Okay, so I'm always excited when you post something that I actually have! I bought an army jacket several years ago at Old Navy and I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove Olivia's.... But I love yours even more!
ReplyDeleteI liked this post very much as it has helped me a lot in my research and is quite interesting as well.Great Inseparable blog. Thank you for sharing this information with us.
