Last week I visited NYC and stayed with one of my best friends from college, Meg. We spent a day sightseeing and this is what I wore! We hit up Top of the Rock, had lunch in Bryant Park, tried on jeans at Century 21, visited Freedom Tower and ended in Times Square with a run through Forever 21. The weather was gorgeous (hot even), and this dress and flats could not have been a more comfortable choice. The dress is a cotton material and I love the print and loose fit. Meg and I also took tons of photos, which I took way too seriously as you will see below. ;-) What would you wear for sightseeing in NYC?

Love the dress! I haven't been to NYC in a few years, I've definitely got the itch to go back soon though. I'd wear a dress, and probably some closed toe flats.

Love that dress - I wanted it, but my local H&M was out of my size, so I picked up the peplum top in the same print instead! :)

I totally saw this dress at H and M but didn't bother trying it on. I may take a peak this week and see if they still have it. If I were sightseeing in NY I would probably choose a nice light weight dress or crop pants with flats. Great pictures. Looks like you had a blast.

ReplyDeleteYay, thanks for saying hello Sarah! :-)

ReplyDeleteToo funny!!
ReplyDeleteI will spill the beans soon, but I did find that tweed blazer I was hunting for in my size!
ReplyDeleteSounds adorable! They didn't have any other pieces in this print when I was there, bummer!

ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable dress! Love your pics. Looks like you had a wonderful time in NYC!
ReplyDeleteLove that dress! I'm totally digging the dalmatian print, but have been hesitant to get any because I don't know how long the trend will last. But I could see this dress in its classic cut going for a while. Looks great on you, and I love it paired with the cognac bag! What a chic tourist you were, J! :)
ReplyDeleteREALLY love the dress .. and your Zoolander impression!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I have on a dress similar to this one today except mine is black with white spots. I paired it with a leather motorcycle jacket--It's cooling down here.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely gorgeous!! Very comfortable yet put together and chic :)

I love your bag! I don't own a cross-body bag and I really need one! I'll have to check out TJ-Maxx soon. Looks like you guys had fun :)
ReplyDeleteLove your sightseeing outfit! It is perfect for walking around such a busy city. I love the pattern on your dress. I have the pants to that dress, which I recently styled this way: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/09/casual-fall-attire-burgundy-and-spots.htmlIf I were sight seeing in NYC, I would dress up very simply as you did, adding on a pair of leggings and a denim jacket or cardi, or wear a simple two piece attire as I did here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/08/summer-styling-dots-and-chinos.html and here:http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/07/sea-attire.htmlFor shoes, I would most likely go with closed toe flats for day-long excursions to avoid sore and grimy feet at the end of the day. One thing that is a "must have" exactly as you did, is rely on a bag with a cross-body mechanism to be hands-free.
ReplyDeleteGreat dress for site seeing! I wore shift dress all throughout the weekend summers. Printed shorts and a vintage tee was my second option.
ReplyDeleteI love that dress! I almost got it at H&M but got the pencil skirt instead. It's super comfy, huh?
ReplyDeletexo, Jill from www.classywithakick.com
Cute! I always fear that neck line cause I think it can be so unflattering and a little unisex for my liking, but I love that you dressed it up with a fancy necklace, makes all the difference. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI saw this online, it's such a cute print, however I never know what size to order as I fall between sizes! What size did you get? Great necklace too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I got an XS, but if you live in the U.S. H&M unfortunately doesn't offer online ordering yet (just browsing).
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your blog and taking inspiration from your photos. I have never been to NYC, but when I go will probably choose closed-toed flats as I would not someone stepping on my piggies!
ReplyDeleteI loved your dress so much that I literally ran out to H&M the next day and snapped it up! And I'm wearing it now! So cute and comfy and a great work option since it looks put together and chic, but keeps me cool since we're still having summer weather here in L.A. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I love this dress so much, I'm glad you do too!
ReplyDeleteJen, it is such a lovely dress! Would you say it rund TTS or bigger/smaller?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lena! (assume you are talking to me although my name is not Jen LOL!) I got an XS, which is what I would usually get at stores like Gap or Limited. H&M is European sizing though, so I usually would get a size S at that store.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! J, sorry for 'Jen'!! )))))
