Yesterday I attended CFL Blog Con and this is what I wore! I had an event in NYC the night before, barely any sleep, and went to the conference fresh off the plane. I bought this dress at Forever 21 in Times Square, and so it was easy to grab out of my suitcase and throw on. I love how comfortable it is, and the pumpkin color is to die for. I usually wouldn't recommend buying a sheath/work-type dress from Forever 21, but this dress is an exception because the fabric is super-soft and it looks much more expensive than it is. Unfortunately this dress is not work-appopriate on me due to how short it is (story of my life), but on someone who is a different height, this dress would be the perfect office find. I'm also considering having it altered at the waist, but I like it loose so we'll see.
Overall we had such a great conference this year, and I was thrilled to be a part of the planning committee, and to present some Facebook tips at one of the sessions. Over 200 attendees, more than 20 speakers, amazing sponsorships like Ford, lunch provided by Bahama Breeze, a Yelp afterparty, and a cool location at the Orlando Science Center. Huge props to Bess Auer who was the head honcho, and I loved meeting so many cool people in Orlando. My only regret was not getting to meet/talk to every single one of you! It was a great event!

You look adorable and I love that that dress is from F21!
ReplyDeletethat dress really is a great color, and it's one of the rare examples of F21 looking much better than it really is. Nice pick!
ReplyDeleteDress is adorable and the color is to die for. Looks very good on you. I wish I could fit more things from F21.
ReplyDeleteAny recommendations on getting a sheath altered? I have a size 2 hounds tooth from Banana that needs to be taken out to a size 4, possible?

Cute dress! I love the striped top and printed skirt on the other lady too!
ReplyDeleteLove that color! Shoes are awesome too!

I love sheath dresses and this color is great for fall! I usually don't buy dresses from forever 21 but I agree once in a while a simple dress from there can look great! xx Sarah

Thanks Amy! I got the size S.
ReplyDeleteadorable dress. i love the cap sleeves. i have real lanky arms (which i'm working on building some muscle!!) and cap sleeves give my arms a little shape, which makes me so happy.

I seriously love all of the outfits you post! You were huge inspiration to me starting my own blog. I am sure I will never reach your level but it is fun regardless!

Cute dress! Love the orange for fall. My friend, Lou, did the keynote at the CFL Blog Con. If I lived in Florida I so would have been there, we need things like that here in the Midwest.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that the dress was from Forever 21 (guess I should have asked). It looked awesome on you!
ReplyDeleteI heard Lou was a fantastic speaker!!
ReplyDeleteThanks girl!
ReplyDeletelovely look! just a thought: cinching it in the waist might make it appear shorter. the bit of looseness balances the fact that it is a bit shorter than your liking. lovely though!
ReplyDeleteGreat point Ana! I'm going to ask my tailor and see what she thinks!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely stunning!! Finding great looking pieces at Forever21 is one of the best feelings of success ever :)

Great color but bad fabric choice. You can visibly see the wrinkles which makes it look cheap.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet you J! You did a great job! I cannot believe that dress is from Forever 21, good find! Thank you for sharing the fashion bloggers picture too, I wish we had taken it before some of the girls left though.
ReplyDeleteThe orange color is fabulous and the shoes and necklace go perfectly with it. The fabric looks like it wrinkles easily though. Is it supposed to do that? You really do look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love this entire outfit, dress, heels and necklace! Very chic! Though the dress if from F21 I think you make it look amazing!

Your dress is way too cute! And your designer accessories - ooh la la!
ReplyDeletepretty dress! love the color. Looks like you had a great time!

Hi J, The dress is really cute and I love the color. But in what world would that be office appropriate?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ana! This dress is definitely not office appropriate on me!! Eek! As I always recommend, skirts should be knee length or longer at the office. Someone who is shorter than me could wear it if the length fits differently on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! This dress has a very loose fit, so you are seeing it in constant motion in the pictures. The wrinkles are creases of how the dress is laying at that moment! Definitely not meant to be your usual fitted sheath dress that lays flat. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Meaghan! Great meeting you and I agree - wish we had thought of the group picture much sooner! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful! Love the chunky necklace against the simplicity of the dress and the contrasting turquoise pendant. Your shoes are so fabulous. Perfect ensemble.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all J you looked AMAZE and were fully engaging during your presentation. Especially considering you almost literally just got off the plane for NY. Great Job! I love Great meeting you and chatting at the niche after group. -xx Pamela
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Pamela! It was great meeting you!!
ReplyDeleteYou have legs to DIE for!!! BTW - love the fashion ladies - any chance you could link their blogs too?
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy! I would love to but I'm afraid I don't know all of their blogs. I was coming off 4 hours of sleep and completely out of it by that point in the day! A couple of them commented below! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been very surprised to see that a lot of your looks lately have centered on dresses! I recall an earlier post of yours where you mentioned that you didn't allow your clients to purchase dresses due to their minimal ways to re-style them. Why the sudden change?
ReplyDeleteI have been lucking out in the dress department lately I guess! :-) And sorry I must've been unclear in that post (I am a total ditz sometimes.). I don't allow clients to buy dresses that are made to look like separates (as in, a blouse tucked into a skirt), not dresses in general!! I definitely prefer separates and think you can get more mileage out of them, but dresses are great sometimes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for always taking the time to reply! It makes following your blog that much more enjoyable knowing you're a (for lack of better words) real life person! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteLove your dress! That Target sheath is surprisingly amazing- it was my favourite of the bunch when I first saw the Under 50 picture, then read where it was from (and the price)- nice find :)
ReplyDeleteWear did Brian get that Green Shirt?! JK
ReplyDeleteLOL Brian!
ReplyDeleteI would have never guessed that dress was from Forever21!! It looked way more expensive in person. Well done! Doesn't it feel great when you find a great steal like that? Thanks for sharing the fashion blogging group pic.
