Seriously, who doesn't want to be a stylish mom after seeing this inspiration photo? I loved this spread in a J.Crew catalog about a year ago, and decided to give it my own spin this week. Shorts and wedges make the look more comfy casual (and no longer work appropriate), but ultimately I love the classic preppiness of both versions. Below, I'm showing you my latest Stella & Dot acquisitions. I've been wearing S&D jewelry for close to two years now and I've found it to be the only costume jewelry that doesn't tarnish, so in my opinion they are totally worth the investment. I focused on bracelets and rings this order since I wear those daily (and those pieces tend to turn green the fastest). How would you wear today's look and which S&D piece is your favorite?

ReplyDeleteS&D jewelry isn't the only costume jewelry that doesn't tarnish...sorry, but that's a load of...well, you-know-what. I have costume jewelry from The Limited, NY&CO, and even Target that's several years old and none of it is tarnished! Granted, the S&D stuff is nice, but it's too rich for my blood.
ReplyDeleteI love the Stella & Dot cocktail ring. I'm always sporting BIG rings & this one is adorable!!

Thank you Rhonda! Check out my fitness story in this old post. I don't do anything in particular for my legs, just the usual cardio! :-) http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2010/09/my-fitness-story.html
ReplyDeleteNancy, I have a bit of a costume jewelry addiction - I'm sure I own more than 500 pieces at this point. In my experience, no other brand (including the ones you mentioned) are tarnish-free. SOME of my Banana pieces are not tarnished a couple years later, but no other brand has been completely tarnish-free over the years. S&D uses different, higher-quality materials - which is why it's more expensive, and also why it holds up to wear and tear much better. I certainly did't mean for this post to sound like I don't "approve" of other costume jewelry - I will def continue to buy H&M, Banana, Limited, etc. jewelry. But I also wanted to share this little factoid about Stella & Dot - because not everyone knows this and as always, I like to use this website to share my fashion tips and secrets with you guys! Hope this helps! :-)
ReplyDeleteEvery color might look good on you.. no fair! Great legs too!

I love your re-creation! I would probably wear a skirt since I absolutely hate my legs (my knees specifically), but mustard is one of my favorite colors and it looks so great paired with that neutral sweater and blue peeking out. That Camilla ring is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE this outfit!!! Versatile, a little preppy but your accessories add a bit of punch. And you wear it well :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I like your version even better than the original!! :)
ReplyDeleteVery preppy chic and I love the pop of color! I really like how you accessorized the outfit too :-)

ReplyDeleteI love your shorts!
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing!! i LOVELOVELOVE that outfit! my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great-looking outfit, and those mustard shorts are just perfect. I enjoy looking your outfit posts but especially like the ones when you're posing with handbags because they look more complete. An outfit can sink or swim with which handbag is on the shoulder, and that's what I find a challenge sometimes. Which handbag goes better with what I'm wearing? (maybe I own too many and it's overwhelming)
ReplyDeleteI love it and I really like those shorts on you. I'd have to wear it with a pencil skirt as I'm in the South and if it is warm enough to wear shorts then it is probably too warm to wear LS shirt+ sweater layers on top. With a longer skirt, it'd be perfect for early spring.
ReplyDeletelove the shorts!
ReplyDeleteI love your version of preppy!
ReplyDeleteI like your version better!

I love JCrew, but it's too expensive most of the time. Thanks for sharing ways to get that look at a better price!! Also, I am SO glad you posted the link for the renegade bracelet. I've been looking for a good spike bracelet for a month, and I think I've finally found the one!!! XOXO!!
