This is what I wore last night for dinner and margaritas in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. This outfit contains so many of my favorite pieces from my closet, and overall I felt very festive (and comfy) for the occasion. If you celebrated Cinco de Mayo, what did you wear?
ps. Just a little heads up that Neosporin can ruin your clothes. Last summer I had a mole removed in my armpit and doctor's orders were Neosporin with no bandaid. Unfortunately this permanently darkened the underarm area of this shirt, making it look (in some lighting) like I'm sweating on that side. Lovely. :-)

It's not just this outfit, but you make me want to revisit shorts as an option for evenings out. I always thought shorts were too casual, but you manage to dress them up enough.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried using dish soap to get out the neosporin? I think the grease is the reason it stains, and using diluted dish soap has helped me get things like vaseline out of clothes before.
ReplyDeleteThere is this stuff called GOOP....you buy it in the automotive section at walmart. It is a miracle product for removing pretty much anything! A whole load of clothes was washed and dried with a chapstick.....total nightmare. GOOP got out all those little greasy chapstick stains!!
ReplyDeleteLove your top! I wore blue and yellow too :-)

ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah - love the cowboy boots idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Samantha! I tried a bunch of different things last year, don't remember for sure if I tried that though!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Some shorts like sequins or black dress shorts can be really dressy. This was a little casual for a night out, but I just couldn't pass up how comfy it was. :-)
ReplyDeletei love this outfit! and those shoes are so fabulous!
ReplyDeletePerfect outfit for the occasion! And I just have to say - I had a mole removed from my armpit years ago too! Very very awkward spot, especially for the stitches. I don't know anyone else who's had a mole there! You must be so happy it's gone!
ReplyDeleteClick the link below for a great stain remover. I have never used it for Neosporin stains, but have used it for other greasy type stains, and it worked great!

What great fun with colour. You look carefree & comfy! I linked to that handbag - it's just so fun! I watched your episode 1 and was impressed with it's pace. I learnt stuff too - thanks!
ReplyDeleteHaha you are too freaking cute :) LOVE this outfit!
ReplyDeleteLoooooove the shoes! The keeping it real photo is so cute. On Cinco de Mayo I wore skinny jeans, a cami, button-up shirt (Untucked, sleeves rolled up), and menswear vest, finished off with a man's tie with Windsor knot. Only the top button of the shirt was buttoned. It was an 'outside of the box' look for me, but I enjoyed wearing it.
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute and festive outfit!
ReplyDeleteCreamy
Have you thought about doing a post on diet/exercise? i know it's a fashion blog but your legs looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat look! I love that color combo.

That sounds so amazing Darlene! I don't know if I would have the guts to pull off a men's tie so I really admire you for trying that look!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Louise!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thanks for the tip Amy!
ReplyDeleteLindsay, yes I totally agree! Very awkward, esp. with the stitches. It was my biggest mole, had it my whole life. I went to the dermatologist for a new mole that had popped up on my knee - so glad I did b/c the one in my armpit was melanoma, even though it hadn't changed at all! Totally worth ruining my shirt! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour LIME-green bangle bracelet goes *so well* with your LEMON-drop yellow shorts (and the rest of your outfit)............ almost like LEMON-LIME Punch!!
ReplyDeleteYour very CONTEMPORARY shorts/bracelet combo also really............ *complements*............ the beautiful, TRADITIONAL Mexican embroidery on your sleeveless top; and your colorful, TRADITIONAL Guatemalan woven fabric belt............ i.e., for a really great b.l.e.n.d.i.n.g. of on-trend Contemporary Pieces *with* genuinely-timeless Traditional Pieces. Way to go, J.!!
I love that shirt! And I myself never would have thought to put the blue and yellow together but it looks great. You definitely have the eye for some great combos that not everyone would come up with. I enjoy your blog for your unique take on style!

I like the funny picture, and my Cinco de Mayo outfit was less interesting since my hubby and I ran a 1/2 marathon that morning. We were pretty much asleep by 8pm that night. ha!

I wore a blue shirt with white embroidery also, but wore a long white skirt with it, then cognac colored sandles. Funny how similar that is to your outfit - but I have been reading your blog for awhile, lol.
ReplyDeleteas for stains, the best thing I've ever found to get stains out is called Lestoil - you can buy it at grocery and drug stores by the floor cleaners. I've gotten red wine, blueberries and grease stains out with this!
Your outfit sounds so cute! And thanks for the tip - it's been a year, but I think I'll still give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI love how you are wearing wedges with shorts to give it a more dressed up look. And thanks for the tip about neosporin!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your Blog!!! your
outfits are amazing! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love your "keeping it real" photo. There are bloggers that pose daily like that.
ReplyDeleteI just recently bought orange shorts and "cherry shorts (that look more coral to me) and I'm trying to find creative and cute ways to wear them. So far I've done May 27 and May 28 at http://colleen.akwire.net/_clothes/?year=2012&month=5. I forget if you have orange? Do you have a way I can search your blog with tags or anything? I thought you did but I can't seem to find it now.
Who poses like that?! I want to see! And yes, you can search via the search box in the right column. Or, go to Facebook and look through my thumbnails, you can easily see everything I've ever posted in just a few minutes: (http://www.facebook.com/jseverydayfashion)
ReplyDeleteI won't answer who poses like that... they may get offended but every single post there are ~6 pics and one is a post like that.
ReplyDeleteOH I follow you on facebook but forgot to look there. Now that you mention the search on the right I remember that. I was looking at the bottom.
