Whoa there, crazy pants. Those were pretty much my exact thoughts when I saw this inspiration photo of Jessica Alba. Despite my trepidations, I decided to take the trend for a spin. My pants are more psychedelic while hers are floral, but in either case this is one trend I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the house in. I love her shoes though, and if you are brave enough to wear a printed pant then I think a modern, slim fit like hers (or the ones below) are the way to go. Would you ever wear this trend?

Of all the pants shown, yours are are the only ones I would consider stepping out the front door in. You actually look very cute in your flower-power pants! I think the right person could pull off the right pant, but I'm not that gal so I wouldn't even try :P
ReplyDeleteYour's are cute but all of the other ones remind me of a grandma from Florida.
ReplyDeleteWow, this looks absolutely amazing on you! I'm usually against printed pants but this is such a fresh and happy combination. I'd say definitely go for it, this trend suits you so well.
ReplyDeletei think if there were less of me to go around (and thus less of the print) i would love to rock this look. it looks fantastic on you btw, you should totally take it for a spin around town.
ReplyDeletei haven't bought any just yet, but i am definitely diggin it. asos is certainly the place to find them! love the blues paired with orange. way to work the colorwheel!
ReplyDeleteI could not pull this off!!! But of course, Jessica Alba can!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit has a very retro feel -- probably with the color palette and the printed pants. Something you might see on mad men or something, very cute!

Love it! Very youthful and fresh! I found you pinned today and just had to check out your site! I do a What I Wore on my blog too but love your ideas!
ReplyDeleteLove those pants! Super cool pattern and color, look great on you! I don't think I can pull off pants like this unfortunately because I love your choices!
ReplyDeleteyou look great! i don't think i could pull it off - maybe... who knows? loving the inspiration, though!
ReplyDeleteArrrrrgh if you don't want to wear those pants out of the house, I will!! Love, love, love those pants. You look fantastic in them. WEAR THEM!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Bre and welcome to the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the look on both you and Jessica Alba but I wouldn't be brave enough to wear such bold pants in public. Awesome color combo!

I love the print of your pants so much! I think when wild print pants make you question whether you should leave the house or not, that they should be paired with neutral clothing, such as black or white top, nude shoes etc... I love the pants though and if you feel uncomfortable in them, I guarantee the neutral way will make you feel more confident in them!

I wish I were brave enough to try these!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those pants you look fabulous as always!!

J, I think you can pull it off. Me, not so much. Go for it - be bold!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of floral/printed pants, so I'm sure I would do it. I agree that slim would be the right cut for them.

Isnt Jessica gorgeous! You did a good job with this look! i love this trend but I would feel too insecure!

The title of this post made me giggle. I actually used to have a pair of pants really similar to yours, and I'm so sad I gave them away! In hindsight, I'm so short that I'm sure they wore me and not the other way around, but if I were taller, I'd totally rock something similar. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI just can't get into this trend! I think it's because it was popular when I was in elementary/middle school, and I have flashbacks of bodysuits with vests and high-waisted versions of these pants from the late 80s or early 90s. :)
ReplyDeleteI vaguely recall those MC-Hammer pants everyone would wear? lol! At least these have a slim fit to them, but they do still remind me of them! :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree - if you are going to try the trend, try something neutral first! :-)
ReplyDeleteKnowing me, I'm going to end up wearing printed pants soon. I just love clothes that make a statement and I love color. But I agree with what you wrote on the shape. The ones you're wearing have a great print, but the shape is very 90's to me. (I was around when printed pants were in in the 90's and wore some back then.)
ReplyDeleteThe colors are amazing, and I love your pants so much more - they are a great addition to the whole look) I need to find something orange and pair it with pretty turquoise))

I'm not a personal fan of the printed pant. It's such a difficult look to get right and definitely not for all body types. That being said, my critique between these two looks is that the abundance of green seems to be too much in the look you recreated. In jessica's look, the top, jacket, and shoes are accent colors from within the pants so the overall look doesn't seem so dominated by one color. I'm not a designer or anything, I am only comparing on the aesthetics of the looks. For your pant, I would do a shoe that isn't the same color as the background of your pants. I would use one of the accent colors, probably the easiest would be a black pump and I would match the cardigan. For the top, you should pull out a different accent color. I think the pretty turquoise top would work perfect. You look great in everything I have seen you put together, however, this particular look wouldn't make my top ten favorites.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada and I totally agree! I wasn't actually trying to come up with an outfit here - just having fun with the trend and poking fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteRose, I think my pants are from the 90's or even older! (they are a vintage hand me down from a friend)
ReplyDeleteI'm just not feeling the floral pant trend, and I don't think it's one that's going to grow on me.
ReplyDeleteNope. Would not wear
ReplyDeleteI can't get into the printed pants trend. It always reminds me of pajamas. Not a fan...
ReplyDeleteway too matchy-matchy with all the turquoise.. a neutral top and/or neutral shoes would be better. although I'm not too much into these floral pant trend anyways...
ReplyDeleteout of curiosity, what else would you pair with those color shoes? I am trying to think outside of my comfort zone and buy colored shoes and found some like these and can't bring myself to buy them in fear I can't find anything to wear with them! any suggestions are much appreciated! :) But as for this outfit, I know I can't pull it off, but you look great in everything you put together!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like "the overall line" of your outfit, but I agree with some of the other commenters about trying-out how some neutrals also would look with your printed pants, too, e.g., maybe your *gorgeous* Colin Stuart black sandals with the gold ankle strap, (i.e., their spare, "bold," non-fussy look look might really go well with the "bold" print of your pants).
ReplyDeleteAnother simple, one-shoulder silky blouse in black instead............ plus a lightweight black cardigan with just a very faint *hint* of gold metallic threads in it, (i.e., to "pick up" the gold in your sandals' ankle straps!)............ with small gold earrings............ is one thought.
Another thought is that a deep navy (almost black!), silky sleeveless blouse~~with a very slight cowl neck~~would also look striking with your printed pants............ then either just a simple, "bold" turquoise necklace OR "bold" turquoise earrings to finish off the look. (It seems that a deep navy blue blouse wouldn't be as "harsh," with your printed pants, as a black blouse would).
These pants with a pair of ballet flats in a neutral color would be perfect, with a top pulled from one of the green shades in the pants. I'd also wear it with a cardigan in either a neutral or a warm color to break the line of blue/green/navy.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm def not a fan of loudly patterned pants!
ReplyDeleteI would totally wear it!!! I just got some crazy patterned leggings and was a bit nervous to wear them out, but was so glad that I did once I started getting some compliments. As long as we tell ourselves that we are rocking it, I think other people are more likely to believe it! (Or at least that's what I tell myself, hehe). Great look!! You are always so cute in the bright colors. XOXO!
ReplyDeleteLove it Naomi! And I totally agree - believing that you look good is half the battle. When you believe it, others do too!
ReplyDeleteRachel, check out some of my past posts to see at least 4 other ways I've worn them so far- I've also got plenty of new looks with them coming up! They go with everything!!
ReplyDeleteI have worn crazy pants a couple times and I LOVE them!
