Today's Everyday Fashion: Seasonal Brights
Two different seasons, same color story. The one on the left is a great look for fall or winter. My look is way more informal and way more summer, and would be great for someone with a casual dress code like a teacher. I am totally intrigued by the idea of wearing bright colors in cold weather this year. One of my biggest fashion goals this fall is to do a better job incorporating brights into my cold weather wardrobe. Do you wear bright colors in the winter, or do you reserve them for warmer months only?

The color of this cardigan is gorgeous against the shirt! I used to always wear black, grey and brown in the winter, but after seeing all your colorful outfits and doing the colorblocking trend this summer, I am not turning back! I will definitely be incorporating brighter colors into my fall and winter wardrobe. It makes a cold dreary day much better with color :)

I actually love wearing bright colors in the winter because it's so unexpected.

In the winter, I wear a lot of brightly colored sweaters/dress shirts, but I'm not as bold with my skirts and dresses. I think sweater dresses just lend themselves to neutral colors.
ReplyDeleteI pulled this same shirt out of my closet this morning (tags still on) and put it back once again because I couldn't think of anything to wear it with. I think I will try to recreate something like you've put together for church on Sunday. Thanks for the fairy godmother of fashion moment... it's like you read my mind!
ReplyDeleteAaahhh! You put together the cutest outfits!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYay! I also wore this shirt earlier this summer with white jeans, a bold turquoise pendant and a beige trench coat.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit! I'm so excited about this bright color trend. It is so refreshing!

Yes! I totally wear color all year long. Usually more saturated shades like teal, fushia, crimson, and emerald, but I will still be wearing my cobalt and turquoise and coral when the temps cool down. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE!!! I see your outfits everyday. Just so busy with school that I don't get time to comment. But just wanted to let you know that I LOVEEEEE all your styles! Thanks for this inspiration. i hope to do this one this fall. I am thinking with some boots since up here in wisconsin its already getting chilly!
ReplyDeleteThanks again J,

Thanks for taking the time to comment today Nina! I'm so glad you like the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt would be so great if you could do a special post for teachers/substitute teachers. I think alot of people would like that. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis looks adorable! I definitely wear bright colors year round, and I am so happy to see so many fall new arrivals are incorporating color!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! Tan, coral and turquoise are my three favorite colors. Wayyy cuter than the inspiration one too. :)
ReplyDeleteI especially like bright colors in the winter because they help to brighten those dark days, but i guess you don't have that in FL :P

I bought some cognac wedges from Chinese Laundry today using my groupon...and I went through your shop! Hope you get the credit!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot i had those posted - thank you for the reminder! :-) I just added the link to the caption!
ReplyDeleteI love this color combination! It is just gorgeous! The neon bright top pairs perfectly with the teal! I don't tend to wear bright colors that often but when I do everyone always comments how they really light up my face so I've been trying to incorporate some more into my wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteHow long ago did you buy that top? I love it!!! :) New follower, but I am addicted to your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteReally feeling the color combo!

I wear my brights in the fall and winter too. My bright orange T looks great with my chocolate brown sweater in fall, and bright pink is pretty with a dark green so you look seasonal without being too Christmas-y.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! xoo
ReplyDeleteUsually I feel funny about wearing brighter colors in the winter, unless I'm covering it up with darker hues. But then again the fabric really speaks volumes on how to wear an item. Like in the first picture, those fabrics look pretty heavy so even though they're brighter colors they look good for colder weather.
ReplyDeleteThis is a color combo I never would have considered, but when I see it I love it! I like to wear as much color as a I can during the winter months. My mood is totally based on weather so when it's gray for days on end, I get sad. So I have to be my own bright spot in my day.
ReplyDeletelove this color combo
ReplyDeletei wear bright colors ALL the time for the most part
i am a color girl

Love, love the color of the jacket and your sweater I need to find something similar for fall. I'm really starting to fall for jewel colored clothes and accessories.

We have the same color scheme going on today. I'm wearing a bright magenta tank, camel sweater and turquoise necklace. I love the brights together, really makes things pop! I'm a new Arizona resident, so I'm going to be making some adjustments to my fall/winter outfits. Excited to keep the brights going too!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love, love, LOVE your outfit! Turquoise and coral are my two favorite colors to wear and I never thought about pairing them together before! Thanks for the inspiration J! Oh, and as a teacher I would totally wear this look to school! :)
ReplyDeleteI love bright colors in autumn and winter - I have bright plue winter parka and a huge collection of warm tights in different colors))

I love that goal! I always fall into habit of wearing blacks and greys during winter, and I'd love to make that a goal of mine too! I love the concept of brightening up my clothing during the cold, winter months! :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing as I looked at some of the store catalogs with dark, dreary cold weather clothing. Even if I can't find clothes in bright colors 9and I am certainly going to try!), I plan to create a cheery appearance all fall and winter with bright, fun colored jewelry, bags and scarves!
ReplyDeleteHi J, I recently discovered your blog and was instantly hooked! I'm with you... I need to integrate more brights into my fall and winter outfits. I was just thinking forward to fall, and all I pictured in my head was browns, maroon, and forest green. I'm definitely going to throw some neon in there this year!
ReplyDeletelooks a complete advanced and fashionable chick. love you jsevery
ReplyDeleteI love love love this look! And I also love wearing bright colors in the winter. In general, I love color - so for me it doesn't matter what month it is. I wear what I want and what I love. ;)
