The scene: it's Sunday afternoon, I'm exhausted from hosting Gainesville Fashion Week the night before, didn't get enough sleep, but the weather is gorgeous and I want to get outside and enjoy the beautiful day. I hit up brunch and coffee and then head to the park to read. (I'm holding "The Sacred Romance" - an old favorite; we are doing the workbook in Bible study right now.) I don't have a blog post planned for tomorrow, so I decide to snap some photos to share. As for my attire? I was exhausted (bags under my eyes and all), but I was feeling girlie and wanted something to pretty that would fit the Florida scenery. A dress and flat sandals was easy, comfortable, and matched my mood. What good books have you read lately? What would you wear to the park to read?

I recently read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It was a seriously a fantastic book.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the day at the park. It looks so much fun. This reminds me of Alice in Wonderland
ReplyDeleteSo cute!

I love your site and have been following for months! I'm 6 months pregnant and adore all the dresses/outfits you create but can't wear the majority of them since they're cinched or have a hem at the waist. Obviously you're not pregnant :) but have you ever thought about branching out into doing a Maternity post? Featuring cute maternity dresses which for me have been harder to find?!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Gone Girl, which I couldn't put down. And I recently finished By Blood, and it was fantastic!
ReplyDeletecute dress! xo

Cute dress!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until the weather here in Chicago is nice enough to read outside! :)
What an adorable dress! I would probably want to wear a sundress for a day in the park, but I'd have such restricted movement in fear of not flashing someone, that I'd opt for a maxi dress/skirt or bermuda shorts. I can't really recommend any books since right now all I'm reading is a load of Aristotle and Nietzsche... not quite park-reading material!
ReplyDeleteDavid Baldacchi is a fun author and I'd probably wear a light, breezy dress. We are finally experiencing some beautiful weather here in the north!

I've been coveting that jcp floral dress forever and I probably just need to buy it if only to exorcise it from my system.
ReplyDeleteHow funny that you pose in the park today, J. I was just mentioning blogging and storytelling with photos on my blog today. I like these outdoor shots because I'm a sucker for nature but the jury is still out on whether or not I prefer posed still shots in front of a blank canvas to highlight the outfit.

Such a cute dress!! And I'm finally reading A Million Little Pieces and, though the writing style is a little hard to get used to, now that I'm into it it's really a great read :)

Cute outfit for a sunday! I am currently reading the Matched trilogy by Allie Condie and I am OBSESSED
ReplyDeleteHi J! Love your blog. Was hoping you could put out a post with affordable going out tops. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! But I personally wouldn't wear a dress to the park to read because I'd want to sprawl out, lay down, sit cross-legged--all kinds of whatever! And yeah, I'm pretty sure flashing people at a park is unacceptable so it'd be jeans, a cute top, and a cardigan for me!
ReplyDeleteI split my time between cross-legged and laying down - no flashing necessary when you have the right dress! :-)
ReplyDeletePretty dress! You are dressed way cuter than I am when I go to the park! A book that I read recently was Divergent by Veronica Roth. I absolutely adored it, but it may be too young for your taste!
ReplyDeleteS, check out the tops in this post. I would consider these "going out" but let me know if you have something else in mind? http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2013/04/todays-everyday-fashion-printed-peplum.html
ReplyDeleteSo sweet thank you Joyti! Thanks for saying hi, I hope all is well with you!!

I think dresses are great for this season and for the occasion of going to the park or outdoors because it's cute and easy to wear. I recently read Unbroken and think it's a great book!

These photos with your "Blank White Backdrop," (aka a picnic blanket!!), being o.u.t.d.o.o.r.s. in the park and h.o.r.i.z.o.n.t.a.l. on the groundcover----i.e., instead of indoors and vertical----are just SO............ #1) *Cool*~~~because of the green groundcover and trees!!............ #2) *Serene*~~~in the quiet, leafy, natural Lakeside (?) Setting............ and #3) *Beautiful*~~~with you in your pretty Springtime dress!!
ReplyDeleteIf I were blessed to live in Orlando's amazing (year-round!!) natural scenery, I'd definitely understand it, J., i.e., if you ever wanted to "take the weekends off," (from your blog)............ to simply *enjoy*............ that BEAUTIFUL Florida scenery............ all around you!!
This is a lovely dress... I'm also in love with the vibrant floral print from JCP, I wonder if the material and fit is nice...???

Cute dress and lovely pics! My favorite read is "The Prophet" by Khalil Gibran. I've read it a thousand times!

Love that dress and the ones from Forever 21. I have tried reading that book several times, but it's the only John Eldridge book I can't finish.
ReplyDeleteHi J!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the blog and the outfit ideas. I am definitely more stylish now because of you! :) As far as books go, I highly recommend LOVE IN TRANSLATION by Sara Palacios. She is a new author with tons of potential and bonus, her eBook is on sale on Amazon right now for less than $4 bucks! It's definitely worth every penny!
Love this setting, and you've totally just inspired me to read this! The last book I read was "The Jesus Life" by Stephen Smith. Rocked my world. Loved it!

Just finnished up "James: mercy triumphs" by Beth Moore bible study. I'd probably wear basketball shorts, Nike's, & a highschool t-shirt, bc if I go to the park it's probably w 3 toddlers in tow. Lol.
