Today's Everyday Fashion: Celeb Style

Inspiration: Celebrity Fashion

I love creating celebrity looks for less! I hope by posting outfits like these, it boosts your confidence that even on a budget you can achieve the style you see in magazines. This outfit is super comfy and wearable for running errands, and I'm excited to attempt something other than black shoes with this jacket (I think the boots in a dark brown/grayish color are just ambiguous enough to make it work). Would you wear this celeb look?

Leather jacket: Victoria's Secret, $257 (cheaper)
Shirt: Limited, $31 sold out online
Pants: Sanctuary Surplus/Nordstrom Rack, $40 (similar, similar)
Boots: c/o Chinese Laundry
Purse: Michael Kors, Santa
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift
Rings: My Stella & Dot website 1, 2
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot website 1, 2, 3, 4

Ann Taylor / Forever 21 / Lands' End
Forever 21 / Bluefly

  1. This outfit is spot on!  I would wear it but maybe with a blazer instead of leather jacket just cause I'm not as edgy. xD

  2. Miranda Kerr always nails it, and your re-creation is awesome!  We posted today using all inspiration looks.  It was a lot of fun to interpret the inspiration photo into our own and what worked for us.

  4. Love the look but I dont see how its a "budget" look.  Its less than the celeb probably paid but other than a great deal on the pants and shirt, everything is pretty expensive for me.

    1. Well, I have seen her wear this jacket multiple times. I think a few staple pieces that may be expensive but are very versatile are actually money well spent. Same goes for jewlery. Iam a fan of inexpensive:most I spend on jeans is $50 and that's rare; love costume jewlery too but every now and then will splurge. I love my David Yurmanchain necklace and bracelet and though it was WAY more expensive than I could normally spend, it was like an investment I will have and eventually pass to my daughter. But I do see what you mean too.

  5. It's still a look for less scenario by far. And by "budget" I mean having one at all..(Mine is $250/month. For more info see - http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/05/how-to-set-clothing-budget.html)

    1. I have really enjoyed this blog! I love clothes but keep a budget and this has really inspired new ways of combining styles. It is by far my favorite fashion blog! One thing I did to curb my spending was start using Stylish Girl app (free!) It allows me to take a pic of all of my clothes and accessories and catalogue them, create wish lists and create virtual outfits using my clothing that I save, almost the same as pinning a board on Pinterest. Now I shop in my closet before hitting a store and use my wish list for shopping so I am not buying out of impulse!

  6. I like your outfit way better than the celeb look.  You always look fabulous and I feel inspired by what you do.  I love how you wear your same pieces in different ways and I appreciate all the options you provide.  Keep up the great work, I think of your outfits when I am deciding what to wear in the morning!

  7. I love this look and would definitely wear it. Stripes, leather jackets, ankle boots - all are both trendy and can be worn with multiple outfits. And if you sub the jacket for a sweater or a different type of jacket, you've got a totally different look. Great look!

  9. Adore this look! I agree with Ms. Mecham, every now and then investing in a high quality staple (as I feel a leather jacket is) can be justified by calculating the cost per wear. I use an iPhone app called Stylebook, which can calculate that for you with proper use. I think it is safe to say too, that my budget is less than $250 a month.
I am always impressed with you J!

  10. What a great interpretation!  Nearly spot on!  I do this all the time.  I have the Stylebook app and it lets me input inspirational looks from magazines, etc. and create one similar using the items from my closet.  I love this look!

  11. This is a very doable celeb look and makes me want to embrace stripes a little more. What kind of pants are you wearing? Are they twill, or cargo pants? I can't quire tell.

  12. I would totally wear this look. I love stripes!!!! And I really appreciate how you show celebrity looks for less. It makes us "normal" people feel better and feel like we too can dress like a celebrity.

  14. I wouldn't wear her look, but I'd wear yours! Very edgy and feminine and I cannot say no to stripes and black and white paired with a neutral. :)

  15. I wouldn't wear her look either, but I also would wear yours.  Yours is more feminine and more fitted/flattering.

  16. Very simple but perfect for a day of running errands or going to school... I'm such a fan of B&W stripes!!

  20. I agree with previous posters' comments about the leather jacket being a worthy buy, because it's a staple piece. I would sub a blazer, but yes, I would wear a similar look.

  25. Wow! Stunned by the ugly comments left here. You should never say something anonymously that you wouldn't say face to face. If you don't like J then don't read her blog.

  27. I think it's interesting that those that are writing the nasty anonymous comments don't know how to spell or use proper grammar! Tells you something about their intelligence I guess.

  33. I love that jacket so much. I have been pining over it for the longest time now and think I just need to bite the bullet and buy it. I was wondering -- what size did you purchase and do you think it is sized correctly or is a bigger or smaller fit? Thank you!

  34. Love love love outfit J! Thanks for the inspiration!!

  35. Kayla, I got the XS and think it is normal misses sizing! XS/0 at Banana is huge on me, some XS in juniors is too small, but this was perfect.
