Wearing this much black is totally out of my comfort zone, however, when I saw this outfit I thought - what a clever way to wear a bright blazer! And if you are someone who wants to start wearing more color, I think this could be a great first step. It really is as simple as wearing all neutrals with a colorful jacket or blazer over it. What color blazer would you choose to wear with all-black?
Blazer: Banana Republic, $69
Sweater: Express, old (similar)
Black jeans: Gap, $35 (similar)
Purse: Michael Kors, Santa
This look would be perfect with the bright pink blazer that just arrived on my door step via JCrew!
ReplyDeleteI love this pop of color! And the neutral shoes just finish it off beautifully. Thanks for another awesome outfit J!
ReplyDeletethis is a great look -- I wore a similar outfit except with a hot pink blazer! xo

This coral shade looks great with black, I would also wear fuchsia, or any shade of pink as a matter of fact... :) I think purple would also look nice :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit, love it! ♥

I have several colored blazers and I love them. It's a toss up between my bright pink, cobalt blue or mustard yellow. They are more versatile than I ever imagined. I love yours paired with all black! Heather

I bought 2 new blazers on super sale at H & M recently - hot red-orange and emerald. They both look awesome with all black. Super fun way to wear color at work too w dress pants.
ReplyDeleteI love bright blazers! I have one in a similar color and I wear it with everything!!
ReplyDeleteI think this blazer really compliments your skin tone, hair color, and tanned skin. All black would be a great look for you to experiement with your wardrobe and learn to play with more colors and accessories. I say go for it!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a coincidence - I'm wearing my brightest blazer today. All black under a bright orange blazer. Suddenly I feel fashionable! Cheers!

I bought a causul bright coral blazer with 3/4 sleeves over the holidays and was wondering how to wear it to my job at the office. I am going to give the all black theme a try.

I definitely think an all black base is perfect for incorporating color. I'd go for some plain jane colors- like mustard, or those warmer tones, to really play up your skin tone. At first you may look in the mirror, thinking you are washed out, but with some really stand out jewelry, you, J, can pull it off!

Sometimes it's nice to take a break from multiple colors and just rely on one piece to really brighten up an outfit. I think I would wear red, blue, really whatever - black is great in that it tends to match up with pretty much anything!
ReplyDeleteLove this!

This is basically what I wear every single day - an all neutral base with a pop of color from a cardigan or scarf, and cute shoes. No wonder I love your outfit so much!! I tend to feel bad about my style because colors and color blocking are so trendy right now...but seeing this look on you reminds me why I like it so much!! Quality pieces really make a big difference too when you're wearing a lot of one color.
ReplyDeletei love this post! i saved a few outfit inspirations like this on my Pinterest page, but I haven't actually worn them yet. I have a super bright coral blazer from Forever 21 I need to wear with this look. :) Next night out!

Love the color of your blazer, lately I've been loving bright corals! I think that I would do a color similar to your concept of a bright blazer. I Would probably pick cobalt blue because it looks great with black and it's also a really popular color right now.
