Inspired by the catalog photo, I paired these two colors together from my closet. I wore the top outfit before and after the Macy's event on Friday, and the bottom outfit is a winter version for those of you in cold climates. It's also a good illustration of one of my favorite tricks - creating the same outfit for different seasons as a shortcut. Which version do you prefer? Would you wear this color combo?

Love it!! A summer and a fall look. I love what you did with the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove both looks! I'm not sure I could pull it off but I would definitely pick the first outfit to wear! I really enjoy the 2 versions post :)

Oh, I really like the fall look. It makes me wish I wore lavender!
ReplyDeleteThe first outfit is so lovely! Those are such great colors together!

thanks for the options. As it is starting to get cold in Chicago, I'll leaning towards the second look.
ReplyDeleteYay! I can't wait to try both looks :) It is so chilly here lately, the second one will definitely be tried soon... I've been doing a lot of "J-Inspired" looks lately, plus trying to re-create others style into my own. Thanks for your AMAZING help in this :)

so cute! I love the first look-- I love those loose fitting shirts. Somehow they always make a woman look so feminine!
ReplyDeleteLove those colors together
ReplyDeleteyou look great, love the color combo!

I love these colors together. That second look with the camel is double cute!

what a great color combo -- and I have to say the first look with the skirt is my favorite! xo

Wish I had this outfit for the Clemson football game Saturday ;)
ReplyDeleteThey also have shirts that look just like that (and in tons of colors) at Old Nacy - $30!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall color combination!! Orange is my new obsession!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first look, but I think that's just as much because we're heading into summer in Australia and I've got warm weather outfits on my mind :)
ReplyDeleteI much prefer the first look; the muted purple goes much better with the bright pop of orange rather than the cool red in my eyes!

I like the vibrance of the first outfit, but the fall take on it as well...ugh hard to pick! The Steve Madden booties on the bottom outfit take all though. Love those! :) How did you find an Express blazer for $25? You are a great deal finder lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brittany! I scored that deal during the end of June/early July sales. That time of year and right after Christmas/New Years are the two times of year you can easily find insane deals, because retailers are switching seasons! :-)
ReplyDeletebelieve me when I say that I love all of your outfits but I could never wear these colors together if I wanted to stay alive on my college campus! These are our rival school's colors! But I will always love the way you put outfits together!
ReplyDeleteLove this color combination! My favorite is the first one, much because I love how the deep purple and the orange compliment each other so well! It's so vibrant! That being said, most probably I would go for the second one when temperature gets colder!

Definitely version with the cognac booties. Love how the tan pulls the whole look together for the season. I have never tried this colour combo before, but this definitely gives me the incentive.

I would wear both of these! Love red & purple! I had bought a dress in the same color combo and thought...how pretty are they together!

I love both these looks...the purple and orange combo is perfect for cheering on my Clemson Tigers!
ReplyDeleteAs in Mother Nature, your outfit colors are SO similar, J., to----(this stock photo of)----*lovely* Blue Wood Aster flowers!!:

I love both outfit versions----(i.e., truly *gorgeous* styling for both!!)----but with my living in Pennsylvania, the Winter Version............ really "speaks" to me now, (haha)!! Seriously, though, the pieces in your Winter Version are essentially simple pieces, YET they would so-so-so-so-SO *b.r.i.g.h.t.e.n.* up a dreary Pennsylvania Winter day............ i.e., FAR MORE than, say, wearing a white shirt; dark indigo jeans; and a black or deep navy blazer!!
Your Winter Version might also be one of the (many) ways for women to ask............ "How Do You Spell 'Relief' for S.A.D.??" (i.e., Seasonal Affective Disorder)............ and then for them to find (perhaps part of) an answer, J. ............ by simply............ *w.e.a.r.i.n.g.* your bright/cheery Winter Version, too!!
I like them both, but love the winter version (living in Vancouver B.C, Canada it gets chilly), but I think I would pair it with a nice jean jacket instead of the camel blazer. Great colour combo!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the color combination and both the skirt outfit and the jeans outfit!
ReplyDeleteIts too hard to choose! I really like both outfits. The purple/orange skirt is great for warmer fall days, but the jeans/jacket are good for cooler ones.

I absolutely adore this look. I love all three versions, the maxi dress in the inspiration photo is really great and has a spring vibe to it. So I love how you translated this version into something fall apropriate. I would totally wear the last look (with the boots) for work. This is my asthetic, besides the bold colors, I normally don't wear something like that. But it goes so well together that I would love to give it a try. It's fabulous. Great outfits! I wanna see more :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try the purple and red combo for a while, but every time I try to, it hurts my eyes/I chicken out. One of these days!
