I love these pants to death, but let's face it: they are borderline Golden Girls territory (heart that show). Flats are a definite "no" (personal preference, but proceed with caution, I think flats with these pants make you appear shorter), and since the bottom is a slim fit, my inclination is a looser top. With those parameters in mind and a love for a yellow and green color combo, I arrived at this conclusion. A sunny work look, with a modern twist (via the silk camp shirt and pointy heels) fit for the tail end of summer. How would you style these pants?

I wouldn't style them any differently. You did a great job and the yellow looks great with the pants!

I might go for something lacy and white, but i love the mustard color with it also! Thank you for all the style inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAh I love this!! And I would NOT call them Golden Girls-ish at all.
ReplyDeleteI want your shoes!
I think those pants are super fun!
ReplyDeleteI could never pull off these pants! Because of my height they would just look like high water pants!

Leopard and Lillies
Super cute!! Totally my style.

I love the pants. I'd probably go with a different shoe, though. There needs to be a neutral on the shoe with the bright color block in the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog and absolutely love it. Thank you so much for posting daily. It's such a treat to look at every day. :)
if you had styyled them with flats then maybe Golden Girl, but otherwise I love them! That color is fabulous!!

Mustard yellow, so so so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteGolden girls..ha! I'm loving the pants! Great color combo!

LOVE the colors, j!!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have chosen to match the shoes with the shirt exactly. It's just a tad too matchy matchy....
ReplyDeleteI would love to own a pair of cognac or nude pointy toe pumps to wear with this! You gotta work with what is in your closet though. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have the same pants :-) I wear them with a silky black shirt and the black and turqouis flower that I also purchased at the loft- either attaching the flower to my belt or my shirt, with black wedges! I, too, love the golden girls, and feel that Blanche would have rocked these pants!
ReplyDeleteLove these pants on you! Agreed no flats with these sexy pants, they deserve heels! Love the color combo! I wore my mustard yellow top yesterday!

So fun to see your Florida style-- I must say, you would definitely shine brightly here in Colorado if you wore this outfit! I can't pull off the pointy shoes, myself, but you look great. :) PS I just landed a new job and will take lots and lots of pencil skirt inspiration from your blog!

I like how you styled the green ankle pants for work. I would wear it with toms, a white t-shirt, and a brown belt.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun color combo! www.dreamboatfashion.com
ReplyDeleteHow about red shoes?
ReplyDeleteIMO It is hard for anyone to pull off a wide/medium leg capri pant because they tend to look bulky or shorten the leg (even on long legs). I'd get them tailored asap so they are more of a 'skinny' capri. It would add a nice polish to the look and open up more style options.
ReplyDeleteLove that idea Kelly, with a polka dot shirt!
ReplyDeleteBlanche = amazing. Love your style idea Amy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome casual idea for these Van!
ReplyDeleteLove the color combo. I think that cropped pants are tricky - I prefer a little shorter than yours pictured above. I think I would style them with a solid color, like you, if the shirt were a print, the whole thing may be too much. PS. Also like the contrasting shoe idea from Kelly.
ReplyDeletelove to hear the tips & tricks about heel/no heels & shirt type depending on the pant. that's the kinda stuff i have a hard time figuring out on my own!

Those pants are great! I have similar style ones in emerald green, fuschia and purple. I agree with you that heels are the way to go with ankle or crop pants. I recently wore a similar look with my fuschia pants, pairing it with a silky loose fitting black blouse and leopard pointy heels. I have also styled these pants by pairing it with a button up shirt, pictured here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/08/summer-attire-fuschia-pairing.html, and with a blazer and loose chiffon tank, pictured here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/08/summer-suiting-purple-and-cheetah.html
ReplyDeletehaha I love the golden girls reference!! and that's a great color on you! xo

i adore this outfit! such a fun, but different color combo. i love coming to your blog and finding cool combos like this one!
ReplyDeletea silk shirt for $20????
ReplyDeleteI think I would choose a different shoe -- maybe a more neutral pump that doesn't match the shirt so closely.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently on the hunt for a nude or cognac pointy toe pump to add to my collection - I would've loved to have paired it with one of those instead!
ReplyDeleteOne of my biggest shopping tips - the day after Christmas/New Year's shopping! Insane deals, I never miss it. I picked up this top last Christmas.
ReplyDeleteJust snagged a pair similar to this! Love it!!

I love the color combo!
ReplyDeleteThere are an infinite number of ways you could style these. The mustard was a great idea!

I would rock an ox blood color blouse and pump... brings it right into fall!
