Every time I pull out these jeans I catch myself singing "John Deere Green" (10 points if you know that song). I've worn them several times, but have yet to do a green + yellow combo, so today is the day. As with so many J.Crew looks in the past, I love the color scheme they used, so I played around in my closet until I found a somewhat similar match (and encourage you to do the same!). Would you wear these colors together?

"He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene" I have the exact same pants and they are my absolute favorite thing in my closet! And suprisingly versatile!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely wear this color combo. What I like about this look is the mint green sweater. It's a nice contrast with the "John Deere Green" and mustard top. Super cute! Heather
ReplyDeleteTotally going to try this colour combination. I have a mustard cardi, a mint top, and a green skirt that should work.
ReplyDeleteI love this color combo on you, but being a Wisconsin native I couldn't wear it because people would say I'm wearing "Packer colors"...all. day. long. Thanks for the flashback to my younger country music lovin' days :)
ReplyDeletei would have never thought to throw mint green in with that combo. good thing i follow this blog- you have such great style, and i love how you give options- i almost considered buying those items!!
ReplyDeleteReally like the color combo here. I feel inspired to try something similar for my first day back teaching.
ReplyDeleteOh great - now I will have that song stuck in my head all day (sad that I still remember all the words!) :)

you look great - awesome outfit (:
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that song in forever but started singing it once I read the title of your post! My husband would never let me out of the house in those colors because they are the colors of our rival football team! haha I have always loved them together!
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I'm brave enough to try this, but you look great!

i would definitely wear these colors together! i also really like jcrew's color schemes. i save their books that come in the mail & study them for wardrobe inspiration. i find them a little high, so i just try to copy outfits using the same colors/styles!

Hi J, simply love your style !! Just wanted to ask do you follow Pretty Little Liars. If yes, whos style do you like the best. I like Spencer Hastings style a lot. Was wondering how would it be to see her style with your twist.(The little splash of color with preppy look I mean).
ReplyDeleteI am unlike you a little neutral color wearing person, I like colors but never been able to carry them much, on days I feel like adding a little color with the usual I wear.
You can definitely pull it off and it looks great! I however live in the middle of cotton country AKA John Deere Land so it would look super hokey!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! But I am WAAAY too scared to even try to pull that off!!

Love the mustard and green together...you pull it off so well J!

Thank you!! And no unfortunately I've never seen Pretty Little Liars.
ReplyDeleteYes! So true. These are very much Packers colors. Good if you are fan on game day, but bad if you aren't and live in Wisconsin. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I took a ton of photos yesterday so you'll be seeing more of my hair like this. I skipped a day of washing it and didn't do a thing to it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great game day outfit here in Bear country! Go Baylor Bears!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I do know that song and I love it! Second of all, this outfit looks great! Great color combination!

ReplyDeletegreat colors j! love those shoes.. Xo Megan
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking this color scheme!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, that song is the first thing I thought of when I read the title of this post! Now you have me wanting to listen to the country songs of my high school days :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the mint with the darker green, too. I see a new outfit in my future....
Ha, of course this southern gal knows that song! Fun color combination!
ReplyDeleteLove this look! The jeans and shirt are Jamaica colours - very appropriate at this time to celebrate Jamaica's 50th Anniversary of Independence and the success of the track team at the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteHe wrote Billie Bob loves Charlene! Was thinking the same thing when I saw the title! HAHA!
ReplyDeleteI do know the song, and now it's in my head :) I can always count on you to put together a bold new color combo. I never would have tried this but I love how it turned out!
ReplyDeletehaha good ole john deere! great look j! http://coffeebeansandbobbypins.blogspot.com//
ReplyDeleteFunny! My Dad's band opened for Joe Diffie last week ;) Gotta love John Deere Green

I could also see myself *casually* wearing (the #3 basic clothing pieces of) this outfit with your luggage-brown Michael Kors loafer flats, i.e., as in your 8/5/12 post, (with the same caramel purse there, as here!!)............ with your watch and colorful African bracelets............ and, in the split v-neck collar space of your yellow rayon top, your cute Stella & Dot gold initial-charm necklace, (i.e., as in your 8/9/12 post)!!
ReplyDeleteYour taking the Primary Color YELLOW and pairing it with one of yellow's two Secondary Colors, *monochromatically*............ (i.e., GREEN wash + mint GREEN)............ sure resulted in a really gorgeous, head-turning outfit, J.!!
I live in WI and this color combo is too Green Bay Packers for me. I'd feel a bit ridiculous, but any other shade of green would work for me
ReplyDeleteHaha, I thought the same thing! Sic'em Bears! :)
ReplyDeleteJ, you look great, as always!
I bought a pair of green jeans and I bought the top at Old Navy!
ReplyDeleteLove those colors...and that song! Billy Bob loves Charlene (c: Love the reference!
ReplyDeleteI have seen this type of shirt in several stores ( the yellow one) and I love the look but am having a hard time finding a shirt small enough to not be gigantic on my waist but not overly stretched at the bust-armpit junction. any suggestions? Thanks and love the blog!
ReplyDeleteMy yellow top is recent and I think it has a slim fit overall - I would check it out the next time you are in Old Navy!
ReplyDeleteI tried those Laurence Conrad jeans on and they were way too short for me! I'm 5'9" and all leg :/
ReplyDeleteI love this look... even if it is John Deer Green. You look great!
ReplyDeleteI just saw this and the next day I was in Kohl's saying how much the jeans I was trying on matched yours...because they were the same. LOL...subliminal message received! I paired it with a light yellow cable knit sweater since mustard looks awkward with my skin tone and got several compliments. Thank you for the match!
ReplyDeleteamazing colors!
ReplyDeleteNatalia, http://my-crazy-idea.blogspot.com
I totally just recreated this outfit. and it is ahhhmazing. love the colors. Cute, casual fun
ReplyDelete"John Deere Green". Old Joe Diffee song...that is now stuck in my head :)
ReplyDeleteLove it Rachel! :-)
ReplyDeleteToday this combination is my Casual Friday at work.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with this! I've been doing a lot of yellow and green lately too, I'm not sure why John Deer never crossed my mind!
