I am loving the aztec skirt trend, and would happily wear all of the options below, but especially 1, 2 and 5. My aztec skirt is short and tight, so I like to pair it with a looser shirt with sleeves to balance out the bottom half. (You can see it worn with a chambray shirt and flats here.) Are you a fan of this trend? Which option below is your favorite?

I love the colorful and shimmery aztec skirts. The look you've made today is the best I've seen. Love it.
ReplyDeleteohhhh #1 and #3 are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteTrendy outfit! I really love the skirt... you are so ridiculously fit, girl! I really like all your picks, but I'd have to say that the Express and first Dilliard's piece would be my favorite. I think #1 could be such a sophisticated look, especially if paired with a neutral tee and nude wedges. #4 could be such a fun look!

Number 1 is definitely my favorite. Love the colors and the bit of sheen it has to it!

I love the skirt with the heels. Where would it be appropriate/not appropriate to wear?
ReplyDeletelike it! i have been trying to incorporate the tribal look into my wardrobe even tho its not typically my style. I work at a women's accessory store and I have a good idea- some stacked bracelets such as corded ones or a beaded cuff would look cute with this too!
ReplyDeleteI am a new reader and am so glad I found your site!
I have never thought to pair my (going out?) aztec skirt with a flowy top to wear everyday! As a college girl on a budget, I am always trying to re-style my wardrobe! If you have time, please check out my blog about college lifestyle and fashion.

I like this look a lot. The colors are so intense and the flowy girly top is a great choice to wear with this so on trend aztec skirt. Also, your hair looks really pretty in the picture! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'd probably change is the belt. It might look better without it. Why'd you chose to wear a belt in the first place?
Excellent question Mia! The belt is a result of me copying the inspiration photo. I agree that this outfit would also work without it though. And my hair was professionally blown out because I did a VISIT FLORIDA video the day before, so I agree, it looks pretty. If only I could do it the way they do. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren and welcome to the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteI would only wear this outfit out at night - to dinner or drinks. It's way too short (with heels) for daytime events, and definitely (!!) not for work.
ReplyDeletei think the whole outfit is really cute, but i am especially loving the shirt!

I remember that outfit with the chambray - it's one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit looks great on you. The top color is very flattering on you. I personally is not a fan of the aztec print skirt.

LOL - how to tell I'm out of the loop: I didn't even know it was a trend ;) altho it makes sense: cousin of tribal (one trend I just don't get)! I like this skirt on you, what you've done with it, and the colors :)
ReplyDeleteI love aztec. I have a full length maxi dress that I love wearing for summer. P.s - I love those shoes!
ReplyDeletelandoftheglam.blogspot.com
I just picked up an aztec skirt at Stein Mart for $20 and I bought a blue Jessica Simpson clutch for $25.
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes!
ReplyDeleteThe *colors* in this outfit are just soooo pretty and "summery" together!! I also like how the print of your aztec skirt is a "wider" zig-zag............ i.e., I'm personally not quite as fond of a "tight" zig-zag, (e.g., as in skirts #2, #4, and #6, Above). Maybe (??) a "wider" zig-zag print, as you're wearing, seems *c.a.l.m.e.r.* to me, or something............ than a "tight" zig-zag print!!
ReplyDeleteSkirt #5............ i.e., the GB (Gianni Bini) Printed Bodycon Mini Skirt from Dillard's............ is my favorite print, (although the skirt would probably be too short for me!!)............ because of the (stylized) yellow/blue/orange; and red/white/black horizontal "flowers" of the design!! (Just to highlight the TOP horizontal band of skirt #5's "flowers," your long, yellow-and-white pendant necklace:

and your cobalt blue blouse:
http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/03/todays-everyday-fashion-20000-fans.html
might possibly look nice, too, with skirt #5!!)
( Addendum: your long, yellow-and-white pendant necklace, as in your blogpost of 6/30/12: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/06/todays-everyday-fashion-bowling.html )
ReplyDeleteYour inspiration photo is one of my inspiration photos that I have kept!! I love the outfit!
ReplyDeletea like aztec print!
ReplyDeleteNatalia, http://my-crazy-idea.blogspot.com
hey j! i love the aztec print too, i actually already bought that sequined express skirt a few months ago but havent worn it because i'm not sure what to pair with it, any ideas??
ReplyDeleteMIchelle, I think it would look great with a silky top in a soft color like a light brown, pink, mint or ivory. You could also try wearing it with a chambray shirt like I show in my other outfit (that I link to in this post). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI have option #5. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWe have another color in the Aztec skirt from Express. :)
