I had a team potluck for Africa last weekend and this is what I wore. The rain brought cooler weather, so I took advantage of being able to wear a blazer and jeans. I love the idea of putting cobalt stripes and emerald together via this inspiration photo, but decided to tone it down a bit with neutral shoes and jacket. I originally bought a green pencil skirt from Express, but decided I would get a lot more use out of green jeans. These jeans are my fifth pair of colored jeans (I also have cobalt, plum, pink and lavender), and I still want to add yellow and turquoise to my closet. How many pairs of colored jeans do you own, and how long do you think this trend will last?

I love that green! It's so pretty and vibrant.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I cannot wear colored jeans :( im a plus size girl so you can totally see the jigglies in my legs when I try on any any colored jean. I ALMOST bought a bright yellow pair this weekend at the brand new (yay! finally they opened up!!) H&M here in Houston, but I just couldnt convince myself that I could pull it off. But they are soooo freakin' cute on everyone else!
ReplyDeleteI so love green skinny jeans! I still want a pair and think they are a flattering shade for almost everyone! This outfit is so nice! xx

I think those green jeans look great on you! And as for the trend lasting - i'm guessing the colored jeans phase will probably last through the fall and winter and then maybe phase out after that!

Love the look with the blue and white!
ReplyDeleteI don't own green jeans, but I do have a pair of emerald green ankle length dress pants since dress pants are more versatile in my closet than jeans.
Love that blazer and these are two of my favorite colors together!! :)
ReplyDeletekinda hoping it goes on for a while longer although I only have 1 pair of coloured, mint!
ReplyDelete♥ ThankFifi
I love colored jeans! I've only got 3 pairs so far (red, raspberry/burgudy, and mint) and wanna add 3 more (cobalt, Kelly green, and yellow!) I think the trend will be around for a little longer--long enough for me to seriously think about getting all of those colors, anyway. Teehee. :)
ReplyDeleteI love green and blue together. This is styled so cute!

Love this outfit and these colors together!! xo

Mandi, I don't buy skinny jeans if I can see my kneecaps too clearly through them. In other words, not all skinny jeans materials are created equal. I personally stick to pairs that are really thick - I don't like anything too stretchy or legging like. I'm wondering if this trick would work for you as well. I love that you want to pull them off, and am hoping with the right pair we can get you into a yellow pair! Give it a try (look for the really thick materials) and let me know if that helps!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the green jeans!
ReplyDeleteAnd I really like how you mix colors. The outfit in your inspiration photo is super matchy-matchy with blue stripes, blue sweater and blue shoes. Mixing it up is much more fresh and interesting :)
I have a lot of colored denim: Cobalt blue, red, green, teal, bright aqua, pink,a bright yellow and I have neon yellow and lilac on the way. I hope they dont go out of style!!
ReplyDeleteLove Calvin Klein jeans, so glad you linked to those. I only have a few pairs of colored pants, none of them are really jeanlike since I like to be able to wear them to work too. They're more muted colors than brights, but I hope the trend sticks around a bit since they go so nicely with neutral tops. I like the blue/white with the green!
ReplyDeleteI love the green paired with the blue stripes! I have a green pair from Target that I don't wear as often as I'd like to. I'm going to try them with my blue striped shirt!
ReplyDeleteI haven't jumped on the trend yet. I'm a non-pants girl anyway. I wear skirts and dresses (and shorts on weekends) until it's cold outside and then usually toss tights on till I can't stand it anymore.
ReplyDeletePLEASE Do a post about where to find some cute Maxi Skirts for the average shopper! Old Navy is the only place I have been able to find some gray and black ones. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the colored jeans trend! I have green chinos that I also love wearing with blue stripes. I am also looking into yellow jeans! Let us know if you find a good pair!

I am also obsessed with colored denim. I have white, black, red and cobalt. I just ordered yellow and purple (both on super sale from LOFT). I hope this trend doesn't pass for a while! We're the consumer we make the demands, right? They have to make them if we want them, right? Perhaps I am deluding myself but I'm going with the positive thinking for now. However, I also remember a time when I couldn't imagine NOT pegging my jeans.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE colored denim. Before summer I bought red and bright pink, but was still a bit deprived, so this past weekend during the Ann Taylor Loft 50% off sale I racked up on some green, pale pink, pale blue, and yellow jeans! Very excited about wearing them! I still would like a pair of royal blue and turqoise though, but I have a pair of turqoise shorts that will just have to do for summer.
ReplyDeleteLauren, I've seen some in cobalt, dark pink, and green at my local Target. I think they were in the vicinity of $20-$25. Might want to check there if you haven't already! :)

You wrote what was in my head! I love the colored denim but I'm always hesitant to buy costly versions or multiple versions of a trend when I'm not sure how long it will stay around. Some trends can be altered to work when the trend dies (like hi-lo hems) but others can't, like colored denim! I only own 2 pairs of colored jeans - cobalt and red - but if I get another pair, green is definitely it!
ReplyDeleteI own too many pairs of colored denim.. maybe 6 or 7! But they were all from Forever 21 so it didn't hurt my wallet too much. I hope the trend lasts for at least another year so I get some use out of these pants.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice, this is such a fresh look! I really like the white blazer and brown shoes. The inspiration photo is a little too matchy-matchy for my taste. So the way you pulled it off seems really cool to me!
ReplyDeleteI do hope the colored jeans trend will last a while. I only have one pair so far (turquoise) and I really love them. But I mostly wear nudes or greys with it because I'm not comfortable pairing it with bright colors although I think it looks really good.
Totally off topic, but can I ask you about your MK watch? I bought one on Friday, it is the ladies version, but looks just like yours. I asked the sales guy if the watch would tarnish at all and he said maybe what touched my skin may. He said it was made of aluminum (I believe) and if it is scratched or whatever, he said you would see silver underneath the gold. Have you seen any tarnishing on your watch? Does it scratch easily? I thought that was pretty odd, but I am used to Bulova watches and they hold up great.
ReplyDeleteIt looks just like the one in the link below, but regular gold like yours.

I would love to hear if you have noticed any issues w/ yours. This one is super light weight, also. I was shocked because it is so big, but yet felt so light.
Thanks!
It is actually this one:

Green and blue are my favorite color combos and I love the brightest of these colors on you :-)

Love the green jeans and the mixing of the bright blue and green.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of colored jeans because I feel like sometimes I end up with too much blue on blue jeans but I'm so afraid that they are just a trend! I feel like white skinnies are pretty classic but what color would you suggest if I pick up just one pair? At 6' 1" to get the right inseam I've embarrassingly become a jean snob...
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am so obsessed with all of you looks. You've inspired me to colorblock the shh out of my closet :)
Green is my absolute favorite color and I love this look! So fun yet put together! I actually just bought my first pair of colored jeans - they're mustard yellow and I got them for $15. I'm hoping the trend at least lasts through the fall so I can get lots of wear out of them!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the green and blue together here! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it lasts for a while, for your sake! :) I adore this look. Love the white blazer.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this look. It's so cheery!
ReplyDeleteLove the kelly green and cobalt together. One of my favorite color combinations :)
ReplyDeleteLindsay @LindsayJEveryday.blogspot.com
I ordered mint and cobalt jeans from Loft's 50% off all sales items sale. I am not sure how they will fit, so they may get returned. I have white jeans that are a few seasons old. I agree that white will be a lasting trend. I think that colors may stick around. I remember BRIGHT jeans being in about 4 years ago. Bright red, bright purple, etc. My bet is that the idea of colored jeans will stick around but that the popular hues/color families will shift.
ReplyDeleteLove the inspiration and your combination.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE green jeans. They are so much fun. I love the blue and white with them...never done that before! Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteHere's how I wear my green jeans! www.classywithakick.com
'Love this outfit............ i.e., the color combination just looks *so fresh* and *cheery* on you!!
ReplyDeleteI also like the reverse directional-striping, too, at (the very end of) the short cap sleeves on your crew-T. It's just a "small deal," but one which simply takes a tee-shirt............ TO "another level,* of stylishness you know!!
I bought some green skinnys for st pattys day. I was sure this trend wouldn't last so instead of $80 express jeans, I found $13 jeans at Gordmans. I'm not a clothes shopper there at all, but I love these. From what I remember they are a little thicker material so they don't hug every single part of your booty :). I also have a cobalt blue pair of shorts ( I reversed your ocean blue look w a light blue top). I'm dying for a cheap cute pair of red jeans! Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteHey, what size did you get in these jeans? I heard they run small?
ReplyDeleteColored jeans.... ? just 2 pairs: pink and red.
ReplyDeleteI think the trend will last at least another year.
I love that green jeans combo you put together . Gorgeous.
Well I just bought my first pair or colored jeans today!! They are hot pink skinny jeans by Michael kors, and I found them at tj maxx for $25!! They are so comfortable. I tried then on and went out in the little hallway to check them out in the three way mirror. I really liked them but was afraid to take the plunge. Then I thought of you and all the fun outfits you put together with your colored jeans! When the fitting room attendant said I looked "awesome"...I was sold :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll stick with black or white tops for now....but excited to see what I can come up with, thanks to you! Again you have inspired me to go outside my comfort zone!
Awesome, those jeans sound so cute and like such a great deal!
ReplyDeleteI have red, orange, teal, and cobalt and I hope the trend lasts forever!!! I'm in love with colored denim <3
ReplyDeleteMy brother tells me colored jeans will last longer because stores like it. Instead of people buying 1 pair of new jeans they need jeans in 5 colors. I tend to agree with him. But I'm still thinking only a year. Not really longer. Yet I still want colored jeans. I have white and yellow and both are too big so I am sad. I do have colored shorts though and for summer, that will have to do.
ReplyDeletehttp://scrapandrun.blogspot.com/2012/03/shopping-skinny-colorful-jeans.html See this post for how they don't fit
http://scrapandrun.blogspot.com/2012/05/512.html (Do you have any tips on how to fix this type of problem in jeans? I also just moved so don't know any seamstresses but was wondering if they are worth it to try to alter. Ugh)
So I tend to want colored jeans each time I see you in yours so I tend to want all those colors. Darn you.
I also just saw the same green jeans at Old Navy yesterday for $34
ReplyDeleteJan, my watch is the MK8077 and it's very heavy. The inside wrist scratched up (a little bit of silver showing through) within the first few weeks, from where I sat my hand down on tables - to eat or type. I've talked to a lot of other people with the same watch and they experience the same thing. This is only my second watch, so I'm not sure if that is normal. The scratches are small though, and didn't really get any bigger after the first week, so I'm still wearing it 1.5 years later!
ReplyDeleteThis just gave me an idea - maybe we can bleach or die our jeans blue if the trend becomes extinct! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this Lea. Yes, my prediction is that this trend will be around in one form or another for at least 2 more years. People are just now beginning to widely adopt it, so I'm not sure this trend has even "peaked" yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm just now getting into the colored jeans and I love it! I'm really hoping it lasts a while longer! I just did a refashion of a J.Crew top on my blog. That particular post is similar to what you do here. I love it. I think your blog is awesome and I'm glad I found it!
