Dress is blue, ivory and camel |
We had a Central Florida Lady Bloggers meet-up on Tuesday night and this is what I wore! This outfit is my version of high-low dressing. The necklace was a splurge, but the 100% silk dress was a steal at $33. I'm loving colorblock pieces right now, and while this dress felt decidedly "mod" off the hanger (it has a box shape), it feels more tribal with the addition of cognac leather belt and shoes, and the intricate necklace. Are you a fan of colorblock dresses?

At first I thought it was a black skirt, white top and a vest so it kind of threw me off. I do really like the cognac accessories though!
ReplyDeleteI love the color block trend :-) cute shoes!

I really love the color blocking of black and cognac. I'm always a little hesitant to pair black and brown, but outfits like this give me the inspiration and confidence to pull it off. Looks fabulous on you!

ReplyDeleteI love the dress. I'm not a fan of the belt though :( maybe a skinnier belt would have worked better IMO and some scrappy shoes. But you do make everything look fabulous anyway :-) enjoy your weekend. Your the first blog I check out before I start blog hopping.

ReplyDeleteSuch a great look, love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nina! I think that the belt takes away from the style of the dress. Boxy can look good and not frumpy and this is one of those times. Great pieces though!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress! It looks like it is a skirt, and a shirt over it with a vest layered over top! That is such a cool dress! Love the colors on you too!

Too funny! It's actually blue, ivory and camel. :-)
ReplyDeleteOooh, lovely, great use of colorblock and such a flattering style!
ReplyDeleteLoving this necklace and dress color combo, so fun! :) Have a great weekend!

I really like the dress, it is so pretty. The cognac accessories are great, too. I especially love the shoes. But I have to say I'm not a big fan of the belt, it's just too big. I don't think this look needs a belt anyway, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI love colourblock dresses! You wear this one so well! I think the colours are really good for transitioning from mod to tribal, etc. It makes it much more versatile.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The big and thick, clunky casual belt looks out of place with the delicate silk. Thin or better yet, no belt at all. I love everything else.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is awesome! Perfect colors and placement of the colors!
ReplyDeleteThe cognac "vest" color of your colorblock dress............ *exactly
ReplyDeletematches*............ the genuine leather "bib" color of your Stella
& Dot Indira Necklace. It's as if the dress and the necklace were
MADE for each other----so, *so* pretty, J.!!
the dress and necklace are amazing - hope you had a fun night.x

ReplyDeleteHi there -
ReplyDeleteSince recently coming across a post for your blog...i have been obsessed!! I like to think I know what i'm doing when it comes to getting dressed, but you give me new inspiration. My one question is, if something your wearing isn't posted as "old" does it mean you recently purchased it? Also, how can I find out how recently it was purchased to know if there's any possibility of my finding it in the store. And I have made several tries to locate some of the nice pieces you credit to MJR Sales but have been unsuccessful. I've read that you said it all depends on when someone comes across their new inventory, but when do you usually check the site for new items? Thanks!
Thank you so much and welcome to the blog! :-) "Old" means that something is more than 5 years old, and I simply can't remember the price. I generally only debut about 1-2 new items per week, so the majority of things I post are not new. I write a monthly budget post where I tell you everything I bought, and they are all archived under Table of Contents, so that is one way to find out when I bought it. You are also welcome to ask me anytime and I'm happy to help!
ReplyDeleteAs for MJR Sales, they have a RSS feed for new items if you are tech savvy and know how to subscribe (I don't, lol). Other than that, new arrivals seem to be pretty sporatic. I tend to check the website a couple times a week if I'm looking to make a purchase, and it usually takes about 4-5 visits before I spot something to buy. Shoes are my favorite so I go straight there. They always have less than 100 pairs in my size, so I can immediately tell if anything is new. If they have new shoes, they must have new arrivals, so I then go and check out the other categories. I hope this helps! :-)
Hi J,
ReplyDeleteQuick question on the dress, I bought it the other day and tried it on at home after purchase (rookie mistake I know). It's slighly too tight around the hips, so I will go back to exchange it for a bigger size however I also noticed it is pretty see-through. Now, I'm hope it's because it's tight and hopefully the bigger size will not be see-through. Did you notice that with yours? Thanks - let me know
Kiki, no the dress is lined so I didn't think it was see-through at all. I definitely wouldn't wear dark underwear with it, but otherwise I thought it was good as-is. Hopefully the bigger size will be better!
