I love the varying shades of cobalt and turquoise in this outfit, and I dug the idea of pairing mellow blue tones with a light khaki jacket. I've had my jacket for about 5 years and it's one of my favorite things to throw on on my way out the door. (Tip: if you look closely at the zippers you will notice it actually has a mandarin collar, but I ironed it open to look more like a blazer.) I would wear this look for errands, or for a casual lunch meeting, in blue skies or on a rainy day. Where would you wear today's look?

Beautiful outfit, the colours are great! ♥
ReplyDeleteThat jacket is amazing! I like how you ironed it to look more like a blazer! Great idea, as I have a jacket with that collar and I don't like it. The blues look perfect together too! xx

Love different shades of the same color in one outfit!
ReplyDeleteI really love this outfit! (Those are prob. my favorite shoes of yours.)
ReplyDeleteLately I've pretty much concluded that I have my style down, but I've having trouble with my casual summer outfits believe it or not! For casual, I like to wear sleeveless when it's hot (I hate short sleeved-shirts in 90 degree weather - I sweat through them - ew!)
I guess my question is how can I make sure my tank/shorts combo don't look too teenager-ish? I'm in my mid-20's and sometimes when I put a casual summer outfit on I feel so juvenile. I know shoes/accessories help, but what else? Thanks for any suggestions J and anyone else too!

ReplyDeleteI love the two shades of blue together. I'm already mentally scanning my closet to figure out how I can recreate this look. Great post!

ReplyDeleteCreamy

ReplyDeleteLove cobalt and turquoise together))

LOVE the jacket!! Such a pretty beige shade too. The whole look looks so comfy :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteClever, clever, ironing that collar down. My mandarin collars have felt so blah, and i've purposely pushed them to the back of my closet. Can wait to iron them out and bring them in rotation!
ReplyDeleteI agree Kelsey! I have 4 pairs of shorts in this style - two from last summer, and two from this summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lindsay! Totally know what you mean about trying to not look too much like a teenager in a tank and shorts. Accessories (belts, jewelry, shoes) are definitely key - take this look for example: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=459557930736615&set=a.324855397540203.100240.120030604689351&type=3&theater
ReplyDeleteI would try to imagine how Jennifer Aniston does it - she is always rocking shorts and a tank and yet still manages to look age-appropriate and sophisticated!
I love the different shades of blue together!

Thanks - I'm glad you got what I meant! haha I will definitely pay more attention to accessories and check out Jennifer Aniston's style. Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over that jacket!!!! And 35 bucks at Banana Republic?! I never go in there because the prices intimidate me, but you seem to score really good things on sale, so I'm going to be brave and go in next time! LOL
ReplyDeleteLindsey, let me know how it goes with ironing! I had to iron and iron the first time to get it right, but years later and it still stays like that no problem! Even after dry cleaning - the "lapels" stay in place.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandy! Banana has awesome sales - here's my post on how to find the best stuff, hope this helps! http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/04/todays-everyday-fashion-secrets-of.html
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That is so helpful!! Thanks J!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! The colors are great. Love how you dressed it up with the jacket and wedges!

Love your cobalt shorts, I hope they still have it at GAP.
ReplyDeleteYou find the cutest clothes on MJR Sales! Pretty sure it’s just me, but that website overwhelms me …. Maybe I’m just not patient enough to really dig? Do you have any tips on how you shop that website?
ReplyDeleteI have a couple VS shirts, and I noticed you have the same ones, and got them for much cheaper – I’m jealous (;
Love this blue color combo by the way!
Great look! I love the color combo. That jacket is a perfect addition to any outfit.

I love this look super casual and cute, I would probably pair the shorts and tee with a thin white linen blazer on hot days.
ReplyDeletekelsiesbeautifullife.blogspot.com
You may not agree, but I would have tucked the top into the shorts, in the front at least.
ReplyDeleteThe colour match from the insp, pic is amazing!
As ever, I will be pulling something similar from my wardrobe in the morning!!!
P.S a request for a red, white and cobalt blue outfit...Jubilee stylee!
funny I have been picturing an outfit just like this in my mind for the
ReplyDeletelast month, but it would be a shirt and skirt combo similar to theses
shades, maybe the skirt a little lighter blue....do you know where to
find a blue pencil skirt?! thanks Love
so want the #4 ASOS top
ReplyDeletei have been looking for a really cute mint colored top everywhere and have not found anything that I quite feel like is worth purchasing, this fit would be good for my shape (i think)
ReplyDeleteThey are still online - link in the caption! :-)
ReplyDeleteAngela, it's not just you! :-) I hear this a lot, and MJR is definitely a treasure hunt. Here's a link to my post with some tips for finding the best stuff. Don't use the search box, but use the selections on the top left to narrow down by category, and then select "Size Type" and pick either Regular or Plus. Also - somedays, the website is pretty empty and other times it's the Holy Grail, so it's not always a win. Good luck! http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html
ReplyDeleteThese shorts are pretty high-waisted, so I like having a shirt over them most of the time. How about primary colors? (blue, red, yellow) Check out my post on "5 Winning Color Combos" for that. :-) http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/02/flashback-friday-five-winning-color.html
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! Aqua and cobalt are just so pretty together. Now I need to find me some cobalt shorts. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat
ReplyDeletestyle, I love those shoes and that coat!
I love every bit of this outfit.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are right, I'm just so used to you wearing a belt and showing us what a wonderful waist you have! Thanks for the link to the colour combos, I'm just looking for ideas as it's the Jubilee weekend here in the UK! Hence red, white and blue, like the union jack flag!
ReplyDeleteI have a turquoise top and cobalt jeans. Never would have paired them together! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love, looove this look! It's actually one of the best looks you've showed in the last weeks. The color combination is so clever, it feels so fresh and polished. And the jacket and shoes are the perfect addition to this outfit. I'm in love with the shoes anyway ;) Well done, I would def. wear this look!!
ReplyDeleteThese colors look great together! Love how you ironed the collar on your jacket. I need to do that with some of my jackets. Very clever :)
ReplyDeleteGlad I stumbled across your blog! New follower :)The Pretty Pinhead
