I went bowling last night and this is what I wore! I wanted to be comfy but still wear something fun, so I turned to my favorite formula of long-sleeve shirt and shorts, with a color combo inspired by this J.Crew photo. (I also rolled my sleeves into a proper three-quarter sleeve cuff before I left.) I may have been the worst bowler on my team but at least I brought my A game in the outfit department. ;-) What would you wear to go bowling?
Inspiration photo: J. Crew
Shirt: J.Crew, $45 (same shirt)
Shorts: Gap, $35
Belt: H&M, $18

Watch: Michael Kors, family giftRing: My Stella & Dot website $49

Where do you find all these Jcrew inspiration photos? I like a lot of the looks I see in the catalog, but when I go on their website, often there is just a picture of the item as is, not even of a person wearing it, which makes it hard for me to know how to style their clothes.
ReplyDeleteI love the J. Crew shirt! I can picture this with the bowling shoes and it would look great! In the summer I would probably wear something similar bowling. I'd wear shorts and a looser fitting top so I could move easily.
ReplyDeletei have those same wedges and absolutely love them!
ReplyDeleteto go bowling...i'd never thought about it! probably shorts and a t-shirt. only you could make bowling glam!
I've been eyeing this shirt for a while...how do you find it fits? True to size?
ReplyDeleteGreat look!
Thank you , and yes, true to size! I'm wearing the size 2 which is nice and roomy and gave me plenty of room to swing a bowling ball. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMelissa, J.Crew puts all of their catalogs online, and I save the images from there. (much easier than scanning them in!)
ReplyDeleteI am always drawn to the shorts/long sleeve combo as well! Sometimes it's not practical for the heat but I can't help wanting to wear it! :) This is a great outfit as always.
ReplyDeletegreat color combination as usual ;)

Thank you! You may recognize this shirt from my budget post a few days ago. The stores are having awesome sales right now, and $45 was the sale price right off the rack. If you select "Tall" on this shirt, there are some purple ones left for $59.99.
ReplyDeleteJ, you look absolutely terrific! You've been on such a streak lately, and just when I think "this girl can't have any more tricks up her sleeve", you pull off something like this. Absolutely amazing. Impeccable. {Thanks for such an inspirational blog, by the way!!}

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore this outfit, and LOVE the color combo! I think I have this very same blouse, in chocolate, circa 1994... the classics never go out of style. Sure do wish that purple were available. You look wonderful! ps--great legs :)

PPS-So glad my close HS friend turned me onto your site!
Love purple and yellow together. Purple is one of those colours that, for me, goes with pretty much everything. I'm so jealous of your beautiful legs. I don't wear shorts because I carry my weight in my legs. Love your posts and have been forwarding them to my sisters and friends.
ReplyDeleteI love that purple shirt! I have the same in magenta, but I want all the colors! They are so versatile and look great :)
ReplyDeleteI see this and it screams LSU .. aka this is my favorite outfit of yours ever. Period. :)
ReplyDeleteMarrakech Purple & Lemon Drop Yellow together??!! *Y.E.S.*!! Your wearing these two colors together reminds me of lovely purple and yellow flowers, (no kidding!!); so when I did a Google Search for "purple and yellow flowers images," this is what came up!!:

Now~~(if you're able to actually view the photographs in the link)~~doesn't your pretty bowling outfit then just FIT RIGHT IN there, J.??!! (Haha!!) Seriously, though, I just *l.o.v.e.* how you styled this outfit; and I hope you'll use these two colors again in other outfits, too!!
I would never have thought to put these colors together but I really, really like them here! Thanks for the inspiration on a new color combo!
