Today's Everyday Fashion: March Madness
As a proud alum of basketball-obsessed University of Kansas, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do an outfit post in celebration of March Madness! I have tons of KU gear that I wear around the house and I decided to style up a couple shirts for attending a game or viewing party. I love both, but the left is my favorite. The red pumps are super-comfy and more my style since I don't usually wear sneakers (I've had these Pumas for at least 5 years and only worn them a couple times). Both are cute though and I'm excited to watch the games this year! What team(s) do you support and how do you wear your team gear?
Blazer: Victoria's Secret c/o MJR Sales, $35
T-shirt: Gift from my mom
Jeans: Gap, $44
Red pumps: c/o Express, $30
T-shirt: Gift from my mom
Pants: Gap, $20
Belt: H&M, $20
Sneakers: Puma, old
1-3. Old Navy team shirts, $15 (More than 50 schools! I'm totally buying the KU one.)
4. Victoria's Secret team shirt, $26.50
5. Victoria's Secret team baseball shirt, $42.50

Okay, those tshirts are SO cute! I might have to order a UNC and FSU one! (Clearly UNC for the Spring and FSU for the Fall!) :)
ReplyDeleteThe left is my favorite very cute by still represents the team! http://www.fashionatabargain.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteUh oh -- huge Syracuse fan here! Loving the outfit on the left too -- so cute! xo
ReplyDeleteLet's go Syracuse! It's so much harder to style with Orange! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are adorable and this might be my favorite post ever, just for the pose and outfit on the left! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Fellow KU alum here too. Rock Chalk!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Carolina alum. Go Heels! Us Carolina girls tend to be a bit dressy with our team colors. You'll see a smattering of t-shirts at a viewing party but also Carolina blue blouses and pashminas and scarves, and maybe even a dress or two.
ReplyDeleteSU alum! Lets go Orange and i try to wear my orange gear like you did on the left.
ReplyDeleteI like this post because I never know what to wear to sporting events. I always want to look feminine and like myself but not overdress. Cute!
ReplyDeleteRock Chalk Jayhawk Go KU!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you didn't include any MIZZOU options in those team shirts... Good luck this weekend. If there is an MU/kU match-up on Saturday, it's sure to be a great game! I'll be looking at your March Madness inspiration in Black and Gold! M-I-Z! ;o)
ReplyDeleteI'm rocking the red jeans today, too! Editing the pics now and post will be up at midnight. You look so cute in yours! I snagged mine at Old Navy last weekend on clearance for $9.
ReplyDeleteOh, go USF!

Love the casual Friday look.
ReplyDeleteI did a similar outfit on Superbowl Sunday!
Looking good J!
I'm a HUGE sports fan, so trying to figure out how to make my team t-shirts fashionable was a real challenge for me. I usually end up going the blazer and jeans route. I can't decide how I feel about team t-shirts from other companies besides officially licensed products. I like that they promote mass appeal (especially for teams that need help filling seats in stadiums), but at the same time I prefer an authentic MLB or NHL shirt I get at the stadium/team website, not one that I can pick up at VS.
ReplyDelete(At any rate, I saw KU play in New York earlier this year, they were fun to watch and had a ton of team spirit, it was great!)
This is probably my FAVORITE post to date :) only because being 'not-so-fashionista' I can relate to this post the most! LOVE IT!! Sporty, chic, adorable, and comfy...what more could you ask for in an outfit!?
ReplyDeleteRoCK CHALK JAYHAWK!
LOVE this post!! I'm a KU alumn and I LOVE your looks. Today I am sporting a vintage-looking KU tee with a gray cardigan, skinnies, and TOMS. I read your blog each day but have never said hi or thanked you for such a great blog. ROCK CHALK :-D
ReplyDeleteI'm from Kansas, so I love that you are too. However, it hurts my heart that you're a KU fan. Our family is K-State all the way!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I will always cheer for the Kansas team over other states!
On my way to the Big East tourney in NYC right now and I packed my Syracuse T, blazer and skinnys!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of making March Madness stylish without resorting to cheerleader attire. Keep it up J!
ReplyDeleteLove the look with the blazer and red pumps! So cute yet classy!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, and I love march madness! I went to TX A&M, so I'm always partial to them, but since we wont be at the tourney this year, I fully support KU! They have such a beautiful campus, I love it there. I need to work on my causal sports attire!
ReplyDeleteCindie, that is so funny I've never thought about it that way. I've always been really thankful for stores like VS and F21 putting out college gear - since i live so far away from Kansas, it's hard for me to find it anywhere else! That said, I'm 99% sure the gear is also officially licensed, and that the school is getting at least some of the profit. Maybe the profit is smaller though?
ReplyDeleteI know LOL. I tried to include a few different schools but just couldn't bring myself to include Mizzou. :-)
ReplyDeleteRock Chalk!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelly! So glad you said hi and that you are enjoying the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's okay. If I was stylish enough to have a style blog and wrote an article about game day apparel, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to include KU, either. Gotta love rivalries - No hard feelings here. Love the blog!
ReplyDeleteOops, I didn't mean to imply that they carry products that aren't licensed (I did say that, but I know otherwise!). I'm lucky enough to live close enough to most of my sports teams (and those that don't, they aren't popular enough to merit being made into products at VS or F21), so I prefer going to the official team stores.
ReplyDeleteGotcha, gotcha. I love all the cute local stores around Lawrence that sell KU gear and totally know what you mean about wanting to support that type of business! If only I ever got back to Lawrence I would totally be buying everything lol!
ReplyDeleteHaha exactly! No hard feelings but Mizzou won't be on the blog anytime soon LOL. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the red blazer with your shirt! Adorable! Victoria secret doesn't have my school!
ReplyDeleteCute! I think adding a blazer or cardigan over a printed T is the best way to dress it up... That's how I support my team (TCU- GO FROGS!) while in the office!

I like the red blazer with matching red heels. Very sporty yet posh! xo

Love the left picture. If I were to wear the right outfit, I would probably swap sneakers for loafers (like your MK plate drivers), boating shoes (like the gold ones you wore to Europe), or moccasins. Regardless, I doubt too many people are going to be looking at your feet seeing as you're so freakin' adorable in both pictures!
ReplyDeleteLove that idea Kate! I would probably do the same - wear my loafers with this! And oh stop you are too sweet, lol.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I am endlessly attending sporting events & it's a struggle to look half decent while trying to stay warm & in team colours. I usually end up in a parka unfortunately (I live in Canada) so I end up with a team scarf & toque as my only fashion statements. LOL Will definitely use this post as inspiration for when the weather warms up though! :)
ReplyDeleteCute outfits! But, like someone else said, where is the MU T in your line-up? :-) I will be cheering on my boys this week in black and gold. M-I-Z-Z-O-U!
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note though, I should take some cues from your pics and maybe try to look a little cuter in my sports apparel. At least with a T, you can dress it up a bit. For my (Chiefs and Royals) jerseys, I'm just gonna have to stick with jeans or shorts and tennis shoes though. :-)
LSU!!!! Sometimes I will wear team shirts, but most of the time, I wear school colors so I can dress it up!
ReplyDeleteTAR HEELS! (And yes, I can hear all you Jayhawks hissing from here!) I have a sporting event "uniform" that I never deviate from: team T-shirt or kids' jersey (so it's fitted), layered over a long-sleeved T if it's cold, with jeans and Converse sneakers. Sometimes, I'll add one of those funny little temporary tattoos on my cheek.
ReplyDeleteI love girly clothes, but I just feel wrong in anything that isn't pure tomboy for games!
Ahh! I'm wearing a good 'ol Kansas Tee to work today! Its a heathered gray tee that i've paired with trouser jeans and flats and sweater from loft. The farther removed from my undergrad days I am, i try to let my game day look mature with me.... like cobalt blue skinny jeans with a neutral top or that red v-neck (which i do own) with an animal print cardigan and skinny jeans.
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for awhile now and never knew you were a fellow alum! Rock Chalk!!
LOVE the Jayhawk gear!! I grew up a KU basketball FANATIC, and you just put the biggest smile on my face with your outfit post.
ReplyDeleteROCK CHALK JAYHAWK...KU!!!
I had no idea you went to KU! I;m from Kansas and my dad and brothers are huuuuge fans :p they don't miss a game!
ReplyDeleteHey your hair is up! Perhaps because it's been a topic of discussion quite often on the blog, but now everytime you wear your hair up (here, and on your vacation) I think, See she can do it!
ReplyDeleteI never knew you were a KU alum too, Rock Chalk! I love wearing my blue striped blazer over a tee for game days, i'm thinking I need a red one now :)
ReplyDeleteOh my godness you are cracking me up! This is me throwing it up after a shower, so not cute and of course by the end of the day my scalp was killing me!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I've ever seen your hair pulled back before. It's really pretty like that!
ReplyDeleteYes! MIZ-ZOU!
ReplyDeleteloving the first outfit.

Rock chalk jay hawk! Fun blog of every day wear - especially for those of us stuck in professional office environments.
ReplyDeleteLove. Love. LOVE! RCJH!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Your women kicked my women out (UD), and my men (Lehigh) did great, and then died against Xavier. Much fun though -- first time, either of my teams went to the second round.
ReplyDeleteI'm a KU grad and proud Lawrence resident! You'll be sad to know they closed our Old Navy! Boo!!
ReplyDeleteI knew I liked you! Rock Chalk! I just found your blog a few weeks ago and adore it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog and this has to be my favorite post to date (as a PROUD KU Alum myself)! I was putting together a post on my blog about workplace appropriate fan gear and included your picture and a link to your post! My blog is NOTHING compared to yours but I wanted to let you know!

Love it Caroline!! Thanks for the shout-out and your shirt looks great!
ReplyDeleteOk, this is old but I am a Rock Chalk Jayhawk myself :)
