I bought this shirt in October and have only worn it once, so I decided to show it some love! I played around with it in my closet and came up with these two looks. I wore the top one to (another) speaking engagement at UCF on Friday. This is probably my favorite pencil skirt and I love the camel/red/cobalt color combo. I haven't worn the bottom one yet but I love it, too. The yellow "polka dots" in the shirt are playing off the polka dots in the skirt and the fact that all three pieces are navy creates some continuity. Which outfit is your favorite?

I love them both, but the polka dot skirt is just perfect in the second photos!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the first one until I scrolled down and saw the second one and how even better it looked! Love it with the polka dots, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the second one, very nice!
ReplyDeletethink I love the bottom one the most! love your new skirt.x
ReplyDeletep.s. what have you been speaking about? I spoke last Fri night at a shoe event and I was very nervous beforehand but got through it well in the end!x

lovin the polka dot skirt with the shirt!! love the skirt in general so fun!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! On Thursday I spoke about Facebook marketing strategies, on Friday I spoke about being an entrepreneur and tonight I'm speaking about tourism marketing! :-)
ReplyDeletethe polka dots is unexpected yet a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the second one!!!! Both look cute!
ReplyDeleteLove both looks! I especially love that bright blue skirt! Banana Republic had a similar polka dot skirt!
ReplyDeletei love the 2nd outfit
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is adorable! I love the mix of patterns. And while I love both outfits - I have to say that the second one is my favorite. Great style!
ReplyDeleteI love that polka dot BR skirt so much that I would let it be my focus piece. I do like the way the blazer seems to balance things out. I want to get a blazer, but I do not want to spend a ton. I don't like the ones at Forever 21 - I feel like you can just tell that they're not that great. What do you suggest? What do you think is a reasonable amount to spend on a blazer? Does color factor into the decision? I've been considering black, but the new green one from the Limited is pretty cool.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thelimited.com/detail/modern-jacket/2515582 What is a better investment? Black or color?
I really appreciate you taking time to respond. Thanks!!
Oh my goodness your shirt is so cute!! I definitely like it more than the other three you suggested too. So lovely (and different). I feel like I see you wear a lot of solids or quiet patterns, and so do I. But I love this on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! For a blazer, I would not get one at Forever 21 - I would find one on sale at Express, Limited, Banana, Gap or LOFT and plan to spend about $30-60. (Blazers are F21 are $30-40) so it's really not that much more! And if this is your very first blazer I would recommend black. I've had my black Express blazer for almost 10 years now - it was definitely worth the investment, and if you want a fun color like bright green you can always get an inexpensive cardigan instead!
ReplyDeletei love your blouse! the color combination in the first look is gorgeous!! and i think i need a polka dot skirt for spring :)

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the scarf look! I saw those in Express a while ago and I shoulda grabbed one! They don't have them anymore, right?
ReplyDeleteYou might be able to find one on a clearance rack, but it would be tough to find at this point!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ally!
ReplyDeletei like both, but i love the bright blue skirt. it makes your outfit really pop! very cute!
ReplyDeleteLoving the blue skirt, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of both of these skirts! I'm glad your neglected shirt is now getting some use!

I love BOTH of these outfits because of............ how you pair a very TRADITIONAL scarf-print blouse............ with sleek, bright, CONTEMPORARY pencil skirts............ and ROCKIN' accessories............ (i.e., particularly your chandelier earrings, oversize wristwatch, two large-stone cocktail rings, and open-toe platform pumps)!!
ReplyDeleteReally, REALLY *beautiful*, J.!!
