Today's Everyday Fashion: Leopard Love
Leopard is one of those trends that I was surprised to find myself loving last fall. I had never really been much of a fan, but now that I've embraced it I don't want to let go! It reminds me of the time I swore I would never wear skinny jeans. I've learned to never say never with fashion because you just might wind up loving something you once hated! Tell me - what trends have you sworn off in the past but later embraced?

Your blog has definitely turned my "I will never love animal print" attitude into "I know own a leopard belt and flats". I am going to recreate this outfit with a pair of black shorts instead of the skirt and my flats for a more causal summer look!
ReplyDeleteLol, love your post today. First, the outfit is so simple but chic! Seriously, your closet must be so full b/c you're able to match inspiration photos so well!
ReplyDeleteSecond, I also fell in love with leopard, even though a few years ago I thought it was sooo tacky. Since last fall, I now own leopard sandals, leopard scarf, and leopard cardigan. I also thought I would never wear skinny jeans, but basically that's all the denim I have now!
One of the trends I liked this summer was maxi skirts/dresses. Though I wasn't sure about the brightly colored jeans (the red, blue, even yellow denim skinnies). Didn't think that would translate well into my everyday life, and thought it was a bit too trendy and loud.
Mostly shoes; sperrys, toms, gladiator shoes, and gold jewelry.
ReplyDeletelove the belt, but I think with the shoes it's too matchy matchy. J. Crew has the cutest leopard prints this fall!! Check them out for sure.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny because I swore I would never wear skinny jeans too! LOL! I agree J, that you should never say never when it comes to fashion and what you will and will not wear because women usually change their minds anyways. ;) I recently bought a skinny leopard belt from Target and think every woman should have one! What women don't realize is leopard goes way back and will never go out of style, so it is a timeless and classic item to hold onto forever. I love leopard coats and handbags. The only thing with leopard, is women have to make sure that what they buy looks expensive because cheaply made leopard can be all wrong.

I absolutely swore off skinny jeans last year....but since reading your blog and inspiring me to try them I finally did a couple months ago and am now in love...they're the only jeans I wear now! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBtw, love that outfit! You look way hotter than the model too :)
Totally hear you on the timeless and classic thing when it comes to leopard. I re-watched The Graduate recently and noticed how much leopard Mrs. Robinson is wearing and she was so glam! It has really been around forever!
ReplyDeleteI swore off leggings and jeggings for a long time. I finally relented and realized if you style them correctly its totally doable!
ReplyDeleteLove the leopard! Great inssiration photo/recreation today!

I now like leopard print (due to discovering you and your blog)! I've since purchased a leopard print belt and blouse. I've worn the belt, but not the blouse as of yet. I'm waiting until I get the right accessories to wear with the blouse this fall. I'll have to work my way up to a pair of leopard print shoes though. LOL!
ReplyDeleteActually, I wasn't as big into prints before reading your blog. I now have leopard print, zebra (black&white stripe), camouflage and lots of other printed tops. I was more of a solid, basic color girl for tops & bottoms. Boring, right? I'm so glad I found your blog...my fashion/style world has opened up tremendously and now I get so many compliments on my outfits. Thanks, J!
this is a great look i love leopard will definatetly try this ensemble

I like leopard and animal prints in small doses, but it can definitely be worn in the wrong way. Random question...my husband recently gave me a gold MK watch similar to yours and seems to be getting beat up and scratched pretty quickly. Did you find that yours damaged easily? Im kind of disappointed in it, but wondering if I just got a bad apple!

Michelle, it sounds like the same thing happened to my watch. It's just the bottom of the bracelet for me, where my wrist rubs on tables. Every watch I have ever owned does this, but I was definitely shocked at how quickly it happened. I heard from someone that you can take it to a Michael Kors store and they will help you switch out the links, but not sure if that's true or not.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet, thank you! I was the same way - had nothing but solid colors for a very long time. I'm still finding my way with prints but they are definitely a welcome addition to my closet!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I might try that then. I've had it for about 2 months and it's already scratched and the gold seems to be wearing away. So frustrating! Thanks for responding!

I really love how you've starting putting "sample items" at the end of your blog posts! It's great to see some currently available items that go along with the outfits you feature!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. The belt really sets it off. I'm not sure I could rock those shoes as good as you - I think I might have just opted for a black pump or something more subtle. Still very cute though. :)

I ordered the heels from Tilly's...such a great deal, and I found a discount code for 20% off any order which put them down less than $14. Code is SUMMER 11. Good through August 31st.
ReplyDeleteHope they are as cute in person...and comfy!! ;)
I don't own a ton of animal print but I do have a leopard print cardi, belt and pair of flats. I think a little bit of animal is fun!!
ReplyDeleteI don't really wear leopard or any animal print, but I really like this look!
ReplyDeleteI swore off leggings back in the day but now I don't know what I'd do without them!! I love leopard print so much. I used to go overboard, but I think I've found a good balance with it now.....
ReplyDeleteLove the belt and I just bought leopard print flats! The timing! Haha.

maxi dresses, wedge sandals, leopard, bermuda shorts, shorts with tights, capes, print, military/utility style, leggings....lol you name it! It always takes me a season or two to come around to new trends (I want to make sure they last!)
ReplyDeleteI never like the leopard print, mainly because I've only seen it done in a very tacky or cheap way. But then I fell in love with the shoes!! I saw a pair of flats that I had to have and lo and behold, they went with everything. Now I'm trying to evolve to a leopard skirt.
ReplyDeleteComplex Cardigans
I love this look!! Anything with leopard is an A+ in my book!! I swore I would never do harem pants - I did, I swore I would never do booties - I did, and I swore I would never do skinny jeans - I live in them. I never say never anymore!! Lol! :)

I absolutely love this outfit. I was just at Target the other day and they had the exact same belt for about $15! I think I might go back and get it to recreate this look.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about animal print, particularly leopard. I haven't been a huge fan, but lately I find myself craving a pair of leopard heels.

With leopard, like everything else, it's all about how you wear it. I love it and I like how you mixed it with grey. I notice a lot of times I love a trend but feel self conscious to wear it (like ankle boots or leather pants) but by the next season, I'm full on! http://magpiestyle.net
