Today's Everyday Fashion: Back In Style
Sometimes it pays off to be a pack rat. I give you the full run-down of how I decide what to keep and what to toss in this post, but today is an example of how keeping an item that it is good condition, you still love, but just doesn't quite feel in "style" at the moment, can actually come back in style and wind up being beneficial down the road. I've had this cobalt jacket for approximately 4 years, and now that cobalt is a huge trend for fall I couldn't be happier that I held onto it all this time! What pieces have you held onto that came back in style?

I love your belt. It is a perfect way to incorporate the Navajo style without being over-the-top. Great idea for the trend!
ReplyDeleteSimply GOOOOORGEOUS!!!

Good call on saving this jacket, because it is just gorgeous! The color is definitely spot on trend and it looks great paired with the white.
ReplyDeleteI get rid of things so often and then kick myself later because it comes back into style!

you look awesome, you're on a great streak streak lately!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your jacket! I swear, the biggest fashion lesson that I have learned the hard way, is to not get rid of clothing that you feel will never come back into fashion. I think every 4 or 5 years, you will be able to wear the piece again. I had a pair of red Express Editor dress pants that I thought I would never wear again, and this year Red is huge!!!!! I am kicking myself for giving them to Goodwill because I would kill to have them in my closet again! Anyways, the blue with the white look great and is a great transition to fall. I love white and wear it past labor day, despite what the old traditional rule is!

I've held on to a jean jacket and I finally feel like I can use it again. I am sad because I got rid of animal print flats and they would be perfect right now! sigh. Love this look.
ReplyDeleteI love cobalt and yellow together, looks great! I still have my jean jacket from high school and it comes in and out of style but I refuse to get rid of it :)

I think blazers/cute jackets are back in general! they have always been work appropriate but i've enjoyed getting some of my blazers altered to fit a cute dress or top for a night out!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Christie! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute jacket!! I actually saw the blue blazer at Bloomingdale's this weekend and kind of fell in love but I'm hoping it will reduce in price! They also have a kelly green one that is gorgeous! I don't tend to hold on to too many pieces, but I try and hold on to shoes and I feel like in a few seasons, a lot of styles come back!
ReplyDeleteLove cobalt with blue)
ReplyDeleteI've actually thrifted a cobalt dress some time ago, and now it's the same story - cobalt is huge for fall, and I've already have a dress!))))

I love that you knew to hang onto this. I purge my closet frequently and then later regret getting rid of some of it.
ReplyDeleteI've definitely made mistakes - gotten rid of stuff I shouldn't have and kept things I shouldn't have - but this one was a win for me! :-)
ReplyDeleteReally love this look. Definitely an outfit I'd love to wear!
ReplyDeleteLoving the jacket! I try not to get rid of shoes...they always seem to come back. I recently pulled a bunch of wedges out of storage that I've had for years :)
ReplyDeleteI love the belt you have in this outfit. I wouldn't think to pair it up with that dress and blazer, but I think it looks great! Thanks for opening my eyes to a new idea!

I have held on to a Gap jean jacket that I love! I love your blue jacket!!
ReplyDeleteI also just saw a belt similar to yours this week at Target (FYI)! Great outfit and smart choice to keep it!
The suit I bought for summer internship interviews in college is more than a decade old. It has the slightly oversize, long jacket look of the late 90s that was totally out of style until it was brought back as the "boyfriend blazer" last year. These days I roll up the sleeves and wear it with black jeans, a colorful tank, and long necklaces for a night on the town.
ReplyDeleteBut I learned this lesson from my mother. I "borrow" her early 80s woven envelope clutches all the time!
I have this slightly oversized, black and white snit sweater with leather strips accenting parts of the front. I've had it for years, and it was actually my brothers in the 90s when he was a tween. What do you know, baggy knit sweaters and leather are creeping up everywhere! And black and white is always classic so I'm glad I kept it!
ReplyDeletethe best wild style. great to see such styles. love that outfit. keep up the right and nice work dude.
