Today's Everyday Fashion: The Blue Skirt
This skirt was my favorite purchase last summer. I love this shade of blue and had never seen anything quite like it before (thanks to the colorblocking trend this color is everywhere now but that wasn't the case last year!). I wore it for a couple nights out last summer, but I haven't found anything to wear it with this year. I decided to try it with a graphic tee (recently picked up at H&M and not sure if I'm keeping it yet) for a casual look with sandals. I also tried it with fun heels, but I'm still not 100% sure I love either one. Tell me, what would you wear with this blue skirt?

I really love the skirt, but I'm not 100% about the top either!
ReplyDeletegreat combination! amazing skirt! xoo
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. KEEP that shirt! I like the sandals bes. Hmm..maybe a magenta ruffly tank top would look nice with the skirt too.
ReplyDeleteI like the graphic tee with the skirt. How about a pretty yellow top paired with a hot pink belt for some color blocking? Black is always a good pick to play off a bright color too.

LOVE the second one- keep the shirt! (ps. i have that skirt too and have only ever worn it with a black shirt...thanks for the ideas!)
ReplyDeleteI would wear the skirt with hot pink and white. Love turquoise with pink and white.
ReplyDeleteI like this outfit, but understand why you are not sure about the shirt, it is almost the same color as your skin. I really like the necklace with this skirt though. I immediately thought of this shirt of yours to go with the skirt.. not sure what it would look like in person, but on screen they seem to match. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=248381445187599&set=a.213402672018810.68316.120030604689351&type=1&theater
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this outfit, especially the skirt. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color. I've been searching for solid colored skirts and I've been having trouble finding them.
ReplyDeleteThe graphic tee with a skirt look is one of my favorites...unfortunatly, this only works at work on Fridays so... :)
I love the top with it -- keep it -- to me, it looks perfect with the skirt!
I like the shirt, and I think it looks good with skirt, also can be worn with so many other things... As for the skirt - to be on the safe side I would wear it with white tops - blouses, ruffles... and light colors, light pink, yellow, mustard, peach... polka dots would look cute... zebra also... also multicolored tops... not sure 'till I see it together but these are some ideas...
ReplyDeleteI like the graphic tee but like someone else said, maybe in another color? I have a similar skirt and have worn it with an asymmetrical tank belted and black would be a great combination and very on-trend for Fall!
ReplyDeleteI prefer it with the casual sandals...

I looked at the pictures and then read your writing. I was SHOCKED that you were unsure about this outfit. I personally LOVE it. It's one of my fave outfits I've saw in blogland. I definitely think it is a keeper.
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt and that color! I think just a nice classic black, form fitting, top tucked in would look nice along with the heels :)
ReplyDeleteI love this shirt with the skirt. The blue on the shirt pops and still keeps the neutrals in tact without looking irrelevant. Cheers! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great casual look and it totally works with the t-shirt (you should keep it). I am going to try this look.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kimberly Pritt's comment about the color of your top. The tee is cute, but isn't allowing your beautiful skin tone and hair color to shine! Just popped over to H&M and saw this lovely white and black polka dotted chiffon blouse. Something a little more romantic and flowy to balance out your fitted skirt and it says summer to me. What do you think: http://www.hm.com/us/product/93402?article=93402-A
ReplyDeleteI love the color of this skirt! Bright and perfect for summer. I need to start pulling out my graphic tees and wear them in new ways! I normally just wear them with jeans when I'm doing housework, but your outfit shows they can be cute for a date too!

Love the outfit with the flats. Love those sandals actually. Are they the Diba Din Go Wedge sandals? They seem similiar but I can't tell...Misty
ReplyDeleteI love this! The first look is my favorite, and I love the shirt on you. I would keep it. :) Your skin is a lot darker than the tone of the shirt, so it's fine. It looks comfortable too! I would most likely wear a sleeveless blouse (in a cream and black print) with this skirt, and wear it untucked with a skinny belt around my waist for definition. There are so many ways to wear that kind of skirt though. You will get so much use out of it for sure!

Happy Birthday, J!! Hope you had a great day! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm not totally sold on the shirt either. I just don't feel like it flatters your skin tone as well as it should.
ReplyDeleteAs for what goes with the skirt - stripes definitely, also, you might try pale pink, lemon or even mustard yellow, black obviously, and grey or even olive would work.
I'd wear an orange shirt and leather shoes/bag. I don't mind whis tee though
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, thank you! :-)
ReplyDeleteMisty, yes as far as I know these are the Diba Din Go shoes. They didn't come with the box so I'm not 100% sure.
ReplyDeleteI love that H&M shirt, very cute!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I think it's amazing how two people's perspectives on the same outfit can be so different. I'm glad you like it! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt- I would wear it with a navy and white striped top. I think I've seen that you have one. And some statement jewelry- bracelet or earrings. And flats- you can rock them.
ReplyDeletei like it with the fun heels and added necklace(s). Maybe also with a white or gray shirt?? Love the color of the skirt!
ReplyDeleteI'd like the skirt with this top http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=whatsnew%5Fapp%5Ftops&product%5Fid=2000023205&Page=all&pgcount=100 and a shrunken white blazer with 3/4 length sleeves.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the one with the flat sandels... not sure why...

I like the shape of the shirt but I dond like the pattern. It seems a little juvenile. The skirt is awesome and you can combine it with a yellow top as seen in the 'unlikely duo' post. Add some accesories and this would be a color block winner. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure which I am more in love with - the skirt or the shirt. I would probably say the shirt though, because I could never pull off that skirt! (I'm from the midwest....apparently we don't like bright colors. lol). It's a very cute, fun outfit!

I'm from the Midwest - Kansas to be exact! :-)
ReplyDeleteLol. I don't remember where I heard it, but one of the blogs I read said something to the effect of "midwest girls don't like color...they always dress in grays and neutrals and "safe" colors". lol.
ReplyDeleteI love this skirt too. I have Express' version of this skirt from last year. Mine is 100% Turquoise, too. You should have definitely kept that Graphic Tee cause it's amazing and looks great with this skirts. It dresses it down but it is still a very cool look. I also love either pair of nude shoes with it and the 2 necklaces together, even better than 1. ;-)
