Inspiration: Pinterest |
I love the pretty print in today's inspiration photo and it motivated me to try my own printed top with a similar chartreuse pencil skirt I had in my closet. You can see another way I wore this top here. I also found more pretty prints to shop; I ordered #1 (it's on clearance for $10!!), and I'm seriously tempted by #2 and #4. Do you tend to gravitate more towards prints or solids?

Great print and color combo.

I love combination, but I would wear it without the sweater. I think that is too much green lol
ReplyDeleteDefinitely solids. But I'm trying to branch out more into prints - right now I am loving geometric patterns. There's something super artistic about them.

Love that color combo :)
ReplyDeleteI try to have a nice balance of the two! I would honestly never think to do the colors you did, in fear it would look odd lol but it does not

I love this look all the different shades of green compliment each other so well! I especially love the color of that cardigan. I have one that is similar and I wear it all the time.

What a beautiful outfit, J you look gorgeous! I'm working on adding more printed tops and colorful skirts to my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteThat lime green pencil skirt looks great with your skin tone. I am definitely a fan of this outfit!

Cute outfit - that bright of a green is always a little scary for me, but this outfit definitely works - also, your hair looks super healthy - I'm jealous. Have you done a post on your hair care routine before? I'm in the process of growing mine out for my wedding and I feel like I have to get it cut every three weeks so it looks healthy and not...icky.
ReplyDeleteAlso - mildly unrelated to the rest of my comment, but related to this post --
I have a question regarding your inspiration photo that you attributed to Pinterest. I noticed that linked directly to your pin. The inspiration is obviously not the property of Pinterest - it is a pin of a Shabby Apple ad (I'm going to assume - it looks like a SA product shot, and your pin links to SA). Pinterest is definitely a newer social media platform, and all the legalities of it haven't been worked out, but to me, if I'm linking to something that I've pinned, I would like directly to the original source (ie, if I tweeted or blogged about an outfit you wore that I like, I would like to your post directly, versus my pin of your outfit - or, to use your cooking metaphor (long time reader ;) ) - if I like a recipe of Rachel Ray's that I found on Pinterest, I'd link to Rachel's website versus my pin). What are your thoughts on this?
I love this outfit! and I bought one of the necklaces in turquoise! What a great deal!
ReplyDeletelove the blouse mixed with the bright skirt!

Thanks Ashely! I'm pretty low key with my hair. I stopped dying it 1.5 years ago and let it air dry 95% of the time. On this day I just put a little mousse in it.
ReplyDeleteRe: Pinterest, this question came up a couple weeks ago, and I've been thinking about it a lot, and I really feel like linking to Pinterest is providing more info than if I just linked to the Shabby Apple website. If I link to Pinterest, you are getting access to the stand-alone image, AND you have the option of clicking through to the source website (I wouldn't link to a pin without what appears to be a correct source link). Whereas if I link to Shabby Apple directly, you will land on the homepage, and that image is long, long gone and so you will never be able to find it. Ultimately, if someone saw my blog picture on Pinterest and attributed that way on their website it wouldn't bother me at all (I don't expect them to know them where the picture came from). I would ask that they fix the link if it was broken on Pinterest, but linking to Pinterest on their site would make the most sense to me! Lately I feel like I should avoid Pinterest altogether.... so many copyright issues. It's a shame.
The link that is supposed to go to how you previously wore the top goes instead to the Pinterest inspiration photo.
ReplyDeleteGood catch! Fixed it in the post. Link is supposed to be: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/07/todays-everyday-fashion-sandals-at-work.html
ReplyDeleteI like solids more, I think that it's a lot easier to pair things with. It's hard to stay away from prints though because they're so eye catching in the store and I just have to have them, my eyes usually pass the solids because they don't stand out as much.

I check out your blog every day, and like most of the outfits you put together, but as soon as I clicked on today's outfit, I said "Wow" out loud. I LOVE this look! Color, shape, the way the belt is tied, everything. I only wish that shirt was still available from Limited!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the response, J - and broken links on Pinterest are one of my biggest pet peeves, so I totally get that (why does no one ever check their pins?!?!).
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily - I absolutely love this outfit on you! Simply superb. You look beautiful and I love these colors! And prints all the way! :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to go for solids, but i'm getting better with prints. LOve this outfit.

Bought 3 bubble necklaces. Could not resist the totally awesome deal! Thanks so much, J. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the second shirt you showed! Also, amazing bubble necklace deal! I already have two or I would definitely be ordering another. I decided I needed to switch up the styles of necklaces I have, or else I would be ordering a bright red or orange one to add to my collection! Instead, I'm on the lookout for some other fantastic statement piece.

I'm more of a solid girl, except for basic prints like stripes or polka dots... however I'm gonna try other prints like the ones you just show us... they're lovely!

ReplyDeleteGreat outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! You look so lovely in this color. I look forward to your posts. Now my husband can't wait to see what you've put together, too! He just asked me, "What is J wearing today?" I have been able to mix and match what I have and create something fresh and new with just adding a top or a necklace or a pencil skirt. Thank you so much for the idea of picking out outfits for the week on the weekend. I get up early and never thought of that! It has saved me 15 minutes in the morning. Thank you for extending the discount. I am getting a few bubble necklaces right now. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the coupon for the necklaces. I've coveted one for so long and because of the offer, I was able to by 3! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI maybe generally lean towards more solids than prints; however, IF I find a print that I really *r.e.a.l.l.y. like*----(and the print also has some colors in it, which will coordinate with some of the solid pieces I own, too)----well, on *that* particular day, (haha!!)............ I gravitate more towards prints!!
ReplyDeleteBetween the link you provided, Above, (i.e., for another way in which you've worn your printed top!!)............ and your striking, Springlike outfit here............ you've worn a solid MINT cardigan; then a solid PEA green cardigan, respectively............ and a solid MUSTARD yellow pencil skirt; then a solid CHARTREUSE green pencil skirt, respectively............ all with only ONE printed top!! You're so, *so s.k.i.l.l.e.d.*, J., in choosing............ Just The Right "Combination of Solid Pieces"............ to complement a print's colors!!
Love, love the bubble necklace in mint! Bought mine yesterday :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the colours. You put a beautiful outfit together once again!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting one of these necklaces since i've been following you!! Love them!! I bought two also!! (it was a tough choice thought!!) Thanks J!!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! So pretty! I find myself gravitating more to solids because I think I will get more use from them, but with pattern mixing being so popular, I've started to let them into my life. Right now I really want to find a maternity navy striped maxi skirt! Also love the bubble necklaces ever since I saw them on you. I now have three in black, yellow and bubble gum pink and two mini ones in pale teal and coral.
ReplyDeletewell that could not have come at a better time .... you have a lot of clothes, my thoughts were right .... love it!!! i want your closet!!!
ReplyDeleteJess
I just love this necklace: http://www.collideboutique.com/collections/accessories/products/lavender-necklace-set

Can't wait for my new bubble necklace to come!! I am going to go nuts finding outfits to match...(I have smaller bubble necklaces... and just love them) Can't wait to have the larger necklace!
