Can we just talk about how fashionable people are in NYC?! I was doing my best not to stare, it was so inspiring! I also did the typical "nothing in my closet will ever work" panic before I left. I got the notice I was selected for the Old Navy event on Friday afternoon, and Wednesday morning I was on a flight to NYC, so I didn't have tons of time. I came up with this outfit by combining some of my favorite pieces, and wound up wearing this outfit not once, but twice on Friday. I wore the flat sandals version for lunch with my friend Katie and to the Old Navy event. I changed into my runway clothes (blue top + white jeans from yesterday), and then at dinner with my sorority sisters I spilled food all over myself (so lame). I couldn't clean my blue shirt since it's silk, so I switched back to this outfit. I love the military vibe, and it was easy to transition. What would you wear for visiting NYC?

People in NYC can be fashionable, *however*, they wear wayyyy too much black! It drives me crazy. Hopefully your presence inspired some of them to brighten up a bit! (-:
ReplyDeleteHi J, I love this look!! What is your toe nail colour, I've been admiring it most of the summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks:)
awesome shirt! it looks great with the military jacket

I would feel very unfashionable in New York City... my confidence would definitely take a nose dive since so many of the people living there are so seemingly effortlessly chic!

Love the outfit! I think it was perfect!!
ReplyDeleteCassie, I think the beauty of NYC is that they are so welcoming to all kinds of styles! You should feel free to let your fashion flag fly there - anything goes!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jade! Brand is Sinful Color Professionals and color is 24/7. I got it at Target.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Sarah! Even on the hot, sunny days I was there I saw hardly any color. I know my style would change some if I lived there, but I wouldn't ever let color go completely! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this look & the heels really glam up the cut-off denim and army jacket. Cute look!

LOVE love love this outfit! I would wear the sandal version as I have yet to master walking comfortably in heels - though I love both looks. Perfect transition from day to evening while still feeling casual and effortless. Great job!
ReplyDeleteMy experience in NY? You can wear WHATEVER YOU WANT and be fly, as long as you're confident. I think that's true for anywhere. Just feel good in your skin and know you're hot shit and what you wear won't matter!!
ReplyDeleteLove this look. Does this jacket fit on the smaller or larger side?
ReplyDeleteI kind of feel like jumping up and down and yelling "I have that shirt!!" That means I can be fashionable now, right?
ReplyDeleteLove the military vibe!
Love the 'peek of glitter' behind your military style jacket. Awesome combo of edgy and glam!

I love the look on you. You pull it off so well. It reminds me of Aimee's style from Song of Style.
ReplyDeleteIf I visited NYC at this time of year, I would probably dress like this: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/09/fall-attire-leather-and-blue.html
Your "Attention To Detail"............ (i.e., which you probably, by now, just do SUBconsciously, J., haha!!)............ is just *a.m.a.z.i.n.g.*!!:
ReplyDeleteThe olive green of your military-style jacket really HIGHLIGHTS the beautiful green color of your Labradorite stone pendant necklace............
The gold sequins of your embellished tank and the antiqued brasstone buttons on your jacket just MUTUALLY make each other *shine*............ (With the correct over-all Outfit Styling, your tank could maybe be, among other things............ 1920's "flapper style"............ early 1950's "Chanel style"............ OR mid-1970's "Mod style"............ i.e., in other words, it's simply a timeless piece, no kidding!!)
Rather than white (destroyed) denim shorts - (which honestly might be a little bit too "bright" with the other pieces in your outfit, you know) - your wearing your (destroyed) light blue denim shorts GOES SO WELL with your tank's gold sequins............ (i.e., blue-and-gold!!)............ and also with the olive green of your jacket, too............ (i.e., blue-and-green!!). (By the way, 'just goin' through The List Of All Pastel Colors, I can also see how o.t.h.e.r. pastel-colored shorts might also............ *really rock* this outfit, too!!)
I've also been to NYC, too; and maybe the best part----(of your genuinely *head-turning* outfit on the streets of NYC!!)----is that instead of relying on $$$-expensive; high-end; high-profile; "name" pieces, J., you used #1) Not only your Bargain-Hunting Skills; but also #2) Your Impeccable............ *Sense*............ Of Style, (which is "somethin' that $$$money can't buy"!!)............ to come up with this really *pretty* outfit............ i.e., simply by C.O.M.B.I.N.I.N.G. some of your favorite pieces from your closet!!
What is your secret to keeping your clothes looking new? Do you have everything dry cleaned?
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! And OMG that peplum top from charlotte russe is SO CUTE. Need it!
ReplyDeleteNadia, it depends on the item, but I hand wash a lot of things (such as this sequin shirt) and I also swear by Dryel (at home dry cleaning).
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosanna! :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha Cat! I love this top too, and it was a steal!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing the size S, and the beauty of this jacket is that you can cinch the waist as loose or tight as you want, so the size is somewhat customizable!
