Many of you asked for ideas on how to style this skirt when I first bought it this summer. My suggestion was that any brightly colored top would work, but I have yet to take my own advice! Inspired by the catalog photo, I reached for one of my favorite hues - electric blue. I added black and gold accessories to tie everything together and the end result is a work outfit that can be customized depending on your company's dress code, or even worn for a night out. What colors would you pair with this skirt?

I love that skirt! That could definitely be work appropriate for me, with conservative shoes.
ReplyDeleteI always love your outfits and combinations but I swear they would never look good on me!
ReplyDeletehave to throw my 2 cents in :) have you seen the roll-cuff blouse from old navy? The picture on the site does not do it justice. I purchased it last night in the cream color and paired it with a pair of wide leg dark denim jeans, camel colored kitten heels sling back shoes and a long gold necklace. Yes I loved it so much that I had to wear it today. It fits beautifully and I would post it as an alternative to your blouse today - btw I also got it in navy :)

Looks great to me!! Blue looks great on you!

Love this! I am totally going to try to mimic it for work. I think it is a good balance of fun and conservative for my college instructor job.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! The color of your shirt is beautiful. I saw someone else wearing that Stella & Dot necklace a couple of days ago and loved it - you've sealed the deal for me today, I have to get it!

I love your color choice to pair with the skirt. I have this shirt (the white is semi sheerer that I wanted it to be) with tag still attached in my closet since I've been thinking of what to pair it with. LOVE IT! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the skirt and i love how you paired it with a gorgeous blue blouse.

Love this blue color and actually just picked up a skirt from NY&Co last week in a similar hue. I am now thinking to pair it with a black/white color block shirt. Thanks for the inspiration photo!
ReplyDeleteI would honestly pair any jewel tone... I like the neutral feel of the black and white!
ReplyDeleteCute colorblock skirt. Love the shade of blue of that top you paired with it.

I love this outfit! I have the same skirt but with the fuschia instead of white. I have yet to find a top I love with it. Suggestions?

So cute! Since no one else has pointed this out...I feel the need to tell you that I believe you left out the "L" in colorblock. :)
ReplyDeleteThat top looks amazing, so fresh and bright. I'd also like to see it with emerald green or a vibrant purple :)

You could pair absolutely anything with this skirt!! Nudes, jewel tones... the sky's the limit, really :) And like another reviewer said, just a friendly correction, but you left out the second "l" in "colorblock" (right now the title reads "colorbock").

i do like that skirt a lot. it's much more fun than a plain skirt! i think i'd pair it with a coral top.

Anybody having troubling pinning this?
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is so versatile that it would work with almost any added colour. I like how you paired it with electric blue - it works...and the gold accents tie the whole outfit nicely.
ReplyDeleteSince burgundy is huge for fall, I would pair it with a burgundy blouse. A forest green pairing for fall would also work. For a more subtle look, a nude coloured blouse would look amazing and sophisticated.
I love white/black colour block pieces. I have blouse with the same colour story and I paired it recently with royal blue, here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/09/early-fall-attire-creme-and-royal-blue.html
Gorgeous look! I am adoring your beautiful necklace!

Since I'm not that in love with this skirt anyway, though I think this look is prettier than the last one you showed us, The flowy blue top as well as the black strappy heels and incredible necklace are a great addition and complete the look.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Very nice. You always do such a great job! That blue is gorgeous on you. I like emerald green, so I might pair the skirt with an emerald silk blouse.
ReplyDeleteThe Aztec print top with the real jeans is my favorite! It's fun for fall to dress up with heels for a date or dress down with boots for the movies or shopping.
ReplyDeleteI love the lavender top amd skirt!!! I also love the mustard top and teal pants!! I REALLY LOVE those brown boots... super cute!!
ReplyDeleteI love Aztec Outfit #2
