I snapped these photos on my way to the doctor's office yesterday. Not so much because this outfit is amazing, but because it was a realistic moment - barely any makeup, hair fresh from the shower (no product), and this is what I actually wore (subbed in sandals because it was too steamy for boots, but I really wanted to wear them). I crave hoodies when I'm sick, but this was just as easy and comfy to throw on. I am loving the ankle boots trend for fall, but I also dig them with shorts like in today's outfit. Would you ever wear ankle boots in the summer?

I wouldn't do ankle boots on a 90+ day in mid July but I wouldn't count them out totally either. For me, they are perfect for those coolish summer days, mid to upper 70s maybe. I'm in Ohio so those days aren't entirely uncommon.

Just picked some ankle boots up! Looks great, hope you're feeling better!

Curious - how tall are you? I feel like ankle boots make my shorty legs look even shorter.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your hair this way!!
ReplyDeleteYou have killer legs for this look! Its really great"!

I WANT to wear ankle boots in the summer but it's so hot here! It's got to start cooling down soon right?
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit on you - very casual and cool! xo

They look cute on you but then you have great legs. I would wear these boots in summer (have some Topshop ones from a couple of seasons ago) which I liked wearing with some cropped leggings and a tunic dress. Kinda 'Glasto' style. People with cankles should avoid these boots!
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'7" and I agree - dark shoes that cut off your leg line can be tricky. The slight heel helps with that though!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Julie! Perfect for cool summer days.
ReplyDeleteThe JCPenney shoes are for little girls...not women. Bummer
ReplyDeleteJ- you look so fantastically refreshed after your trip. There's a new light in your eyes. I hardly ever comment, but just wanted to tell you that this morning. Service is such a wonderful thing. Thanks so much for your wonderful blog, too- it always gives me new ideas!
ReplyDeleteOmg so sorry about that!! I am not feeling well (clearly). I will fix it when I get back from the doctor's this morning. Sorry ladies!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit idea. Leggings and a dress would look great!
ReplyDelete:-)
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit! Ankle Boots are on my wish list!

you're totally gorgeous even with a fresh face and feeling under the weather and i hope you feel better soon. great outfit for summer, lazing around, or festivals.

This is one of my favorite outfits on you! I wore ankle boots once or twice last fall and had to be really intentional with them. I couldn't just throw them on with any outfit. I maybe would wear them in the summer - but at night though, during the day I'm strictly in sandals! :)
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, I'm only 5'2". That heel tips helps, though - thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I would wear them in the summer - but definitely in the fall! This outfit is perfect for when the weather starts to cool just slightly!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this look, especially the bag! I wear ankle boots in the summer all the time. They look so cool and edgy with a pair of shorts, I really like that trend. Your knit sweater is so pretty and so versatile. I immediately thought of so many outfit options... Great look and you shoud wear your hair like that more often, the waves are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the third pair! so buying them. They look gray-ish right? I think they would look awesome with black or denim skinny jeans!
ReplyDeleteI want the gray ones!! I would want to wear them in the summer, but here in Arizona its waaaay too hot!!

I have been looking for the perfect pair of ankle booties for a while now...I love yours!

I love the look of ankle boots with shorts! It's just difficult because summers get so hot, but the look is very chic.

I love that pair too Danielle, and they definitely have a gray-ish tint.
ReplyDeleteI love ankle boots, but it's been way too hot here for boots of any kind this summer. But if the weather were right, heck yeah I'd wear them with shorts!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how else to wear ankle boots besides with short shorts. I don't have the legs for short shorts -- does that mean I don't have the legs for ankle boots?
ReplyDeleteAnd I really like your hair wavy. :)
I too am hoping you will show more outfits with your ankle boots. I love the ankle boots but being 50 I would definately want to be a little more conservative. you look great but I would look like I was trying too hard to dress like a younger woman. I'll have to show my daughter this outfit. it would so rock on her :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can pull off wearing an ankle boot with shorts as I am older and I live in Florida. I like the look on you.
ReplyDeleteI love ankle boots too, although never bought to wear them in the summer. very cute with the shorts!
ReplyDeleteShadow
Can't wait to see what you do with those boots come fall. I have two pair - tan and grey - and I can't seem to figure out how to wear them. But I do love 'em.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the boots and would love to rock them during the summer ... but I don't do well with heat and it's been in the 90's, so I haven't purchased any yet.
ReplyDeleteJ, if I looked half as fabulous as you do, I would wear these boots all the time! My legs are just too stumpy for ankle boots. Also, I'm loving your hair like this!!

I LOVE your hair wavy! so cute and natural :)
ReplyDeleteI love this look! I wore bootie yesterday with a short dress. People looked at me weird but I felt fabulous! Thanks for inspiring! This is going to be my next look! Feel better
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful! I love your hair wavy!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I could pull off ankle boots I would totally wear them! I just don't think I can for some reason haha. You look beautiful! I wish my hair looked that great naturally.
ReplyDeleteI bought a pair of ankle boots from DSW earlier this summer and I LOVE them! I wear them with jean shorts all the time.
ReplyDeleteI love ankle booties with denim shorts! In fact I just wore that combo this weekend!!!!!! cute light-weight sweater :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this outfit! I would totally wear something like this.
ReplyDeleteI love ankle boots! I wore them a lot last fall and I think they are great with shorts and dresses and even most skirts!
ReplyDeleteonly below the ankle booties for me, and only in cooler weather. i cant do shorts and boots, just doesn't feel right. i hate sweaty feet!!
ReplyDeleteI despise stuffing my feet into shoes of any kind in the summer. So no ankle boots with shorts for me. I also generally don't like the look of a boot with a short, but I think your take (sweater on top) works because the boots aren't the only cool weather item you are wearing.
ReplyDeleteI love the booties + shorts combo!

Your hair is the first thing I noticed before even reading it was straight from the shower, with no product. It looks really pretty like this! Boots and shorts are super cute together, except when it's 90 degrees and humid! Heather
ReplyDeleteyou are a natural beauty! thanks for sharing the non-made up pics! usually I wouldn't be a fan of ankle boots with shorts, but you can rock it.

Not a fan of ankle boots, in general, and for sure not with shorts, just not my thing!
ReplyDeleteNope on the boots. At least not for summer. I love them with jeans, but I don't have the legs to be able to wear them with shorts. ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling okay! ;)
It's so nice to see a "real" moment. Thanks for sharing. :) Check out my new blog... hellonheelshon.com
ReplyDeleteI love boots with shorts and an totally digging the endless boots!

Love these! I just bought the Old Navy ankle boots in the grey color. So cute and look much more expensive than then are.
ReplyDeletecome say hi if you'd like :) http://www.twoboroughs.blogspot.com
Personally, I really dislike ankle booties. I don't have a reason, but I just think they kind of look ridiculous. That being said, I'm sure there are tons of things I LOVE but others would never wear ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope everything is okay with your health! You look great still! I wish I looked that good going to the doctor. Usually I'm so anxious that what I'm wearing is the last thing on my mind! So, props! As for ankle boots, I don't really like the cowboy/western type. But I don't mind the fancier booties that you could wear to dress up outfits. And I don't think I could pull them off with shorts like you can!
ReplyDeleteGorg! I would totally rock this, but I'm 5'1 and with a medium frame. Do you think this look will work on me or will I look short & stubby? LoL
ReplyDeleteThanks! Monicamonismix.blogspot.com
I was so excited to see this post because I just bought some cowboy ankle booties from target and I don't really know what to pair with them for everyday wear!
ReplyDeleteThe boots interest me. How else could you wear these?
ReplyDeleteSara, I'm thinking a floral sundress with a cardigan or jean jacket, or some skinny jeans and a blazer, to name a couple!
ReplyDeleteI love this look. It's a little different, but very nice style!!

You look great!!! This outfit would be awesome for a festival. Living in the UK I have been wearing my boots on and off lately if it's been raining. Not so much lately as it's finally warm and summerish.
ReplyDeleteI love your hair like this!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite looks ever!
