I snapped this picture at J.Crew with my phone last summer and decided to re-create it with my own clothes this week. The purple and blue tones go great together, but I think it's the unexpected mix of the gray cardigan and brown leopard accents that make it oh-so-J.Crew (and chic). Pencil skirts work way better for my body type, so that was one thing I wanted to change about the look, but otherwise I dig the way they styled it. How would you modify this look for your own office?

I would wear this color combination to work! It's conservative and stylish. I would probably wear an a-line skirt. My lower half is on the curvy side, so pencil skirts tend to look risque on me. (unless I got up a size!)
ReplyDeleteLove the pink and blue with leopard!

ReplyDeleteMy initial instinct would not be to pair all of those colors together, hence why I started following your blog ;-) BUT I must say I love the combination, it works so well, especially the leopard. I too would go pencil skirt vs. the fuller skirt from J Crew for the office. The pencil skirt just seems more fitting an office and more versatile. I had been looking for a pair of leopard shoes for months now, debating if they are worth the investment for being somewhat limited, but after seeing them here, I think I know I will be purchasing.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the hot pink and cobalt blue contrast -- especially with the leopard print belt!!

I love your cardigan with the ruffles very cute.

I love the look both ways. Now if only I had the pieces to complete it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on pencil skirts. They are my wardrobe staple as they work fabulous on curvy figures - really any figure! They give curves and minimize existing curves.

I think I have all the pieces for this outfit - going to have to give it a try!

The cardigan is my favorite- so cute! I would wear basically the same outfit but probably a white shirt instead of pink- I don't LOVE standing out TOO much at work ;-)

You had me at the leopard accessories!! haha love it!!
ReplyDeleteI love this one! This is my favorite of your most recent posts. I like the pencil skirt better than the J Crew version.

ReplyDeletevery cute! I love the grey with leopard look..definitely a great recreation!
ReplyDeleteI love all the places you draw your inspiration from! Amazing blue skirt :)
ReplyDeleteThe purple, blue and leopard look amazing together but I'm not sure about the gray cardigan. It would probably grow on me, though!
ReplyDeleteGreat re-style!! I like your look better than the J Crew one. Adorable as always!

ReplyDeleteoh my, I wear this color combination a lot, but in reverce - my sweater is cobalt and the skirt is magenta))) What a great idea is to add skinny leopard belt - I need to remember this too))

I love this color combination! I'll have to try it out, thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on this so much more!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would rock your take on it for the office, only with a necklace instead of all of those bracelets. Bracelets annoy me when I'm working at my computer.
ReplyDeleteYOUR look is way less frumpy! The mannequin in the window looks shapeless to me. I love the color combo...I am going to copy this!
ReplyDeleteThroughout the year, we have so many dreary/gray/rainy/"blah" days where I live, (in Central Pennsylvania); so your outfit would really be *gorgeous*............ DURING those long gray days of gentle rain!! (And, by the way, I *genuinely wish* that the regions in the U.S. currently suffering from serious, longterm drought conditions could also receive this amount of rain, too!!)
ReplyDeleteSometimes, it seems as if a really brightly-colored (indoor) outfit, all-by-itself, on a dreary, rainy day is almost "too much of a jolt" TO the senses, you know............ so a "J.'s Everyday Fashionable Way" to BRIDGE that gap............ (i.e., between the dreary/gray/rainy/"blah" skies; AND our Basic, Primal Need For Bright *C.o.l.o.r.s.* During Rainy Days!!)............ is to COMBINE the two............ by bringin' the Gray Skies *right-inside* with a gray cardigan............ to *meet-up-with* those (who are wearin') Bright Colors, particularly on............ Rainy Days and Mondays!!
I like that your shirt is a little brighter than the mannequins!

Love it. Unexpected but it totally works. I could wear this to work on a more casual day. Great inspiration. I would've walked by that window thinking it looked frumpy and never would've tried it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great color combination! I love the leopard touches
